What Insiders Are Saying
Daniel Boulud's "casual bistro" Bar Boulud is one of the best places to eat near Lincoln Square.
Delicious food and drink before a Saturday matinee, featuring brunch...my favorite meal to eat out!
Food was disappointing
Rabbit plain uninteresting
Burrata salad uninspired
Lyonnaise sausage tasteless
Coq au vin very good
Like most restaurants in Lincoln Center, you sit on top of people. If you don't mind that, it is a good meal. Better wine by the glass selection would be a bonus
Love Bar Boulud. Excellent food. Usually great service but encountered a rude waitperson with a poor attitude. Never happened before. Hope it doesn’t happen again.
I dine here often because I love the food, the ambiance, and usually the service is excellent. However this time the service by our waiter was atrocious - he ignored us, put in the wrong order, made mistakes on our bill. If this had been my first time at Bar Boulud I would never come again. But of course I will, because I know this visit was unusual. However, someone needs to keep an eye on the waitstaff to make sure that they are professional and treat people properly.
Amazing French food! Creative and totally authentic French cuisine with an amazing wine list. Our server was polite and very helpful. Everything excellent!
I love Bar Boulud but I wish you'd change the menu a bit more often. Just to keep me coming!
Everything from the call confirming our upcoming reservation to our thank you for dining with us was outstanding. Enjoyed by all.
One of the few choices for pre/post Lincoln Center events -- especially if you like authentic French food
Daniel Boulud is a fantastic chief. Bar Boulud is a wonderful to have a great feeling for his mastery at a much more reasonable cost than Daniel. It’s location across from Lincoln Center makes it a great choice for a pre theatre pleasure.
Always good — only complaint was that it was a bit too noisy for conversation.
I’ve been to Bar Boulud many times and always had an excellent experience. This time was terrible. I think may be because of Wed matinee but service was terrible. Food was very good but took forever to be served. Long waits to get our oders of bread, entees and coffee.
Still would recommend but NOT for Wednesday lunch,
This is my third visit to Bar Buloud, it never disappoints! Dover sole was pretty pricey but absolutely delicious. Salut to Daniel ❤️
Bar Boulud is always first rate, but I wish the menu changed a bit more often
than it seem to
Great burger, crispy fries with Brooklyn lager.
Convenient, rather expensive but friendly and enjoyable
Whatever else you order, if you're not vegetarian, be sure to include the charcuterie board. It's sensational. If you're vegetarian, you'll love the cheese board instead. Either could make a good appetizer for 2 (or, for cheese, a good dessert as well). All the mains are delicious -- just had a rabbit stew, which you can't get in very many places and was superb. Really excellent service, too.
Great French place! We’ve been going to this restaurant for couple of years now and it has been consistent good. Service is always wonderful as well
We made a reservation for Sunday afternoon brunch and were seated right away. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was absolutely delicious, I had the croque madame and my mom had the French toast. We shared bacon and hash browns on the side (all great!). Drinks are a little pricey but it's NYC.
We always love to eat at Bar Boulud when we attend performances at Lincoln Center. Be it a brunch or dinner we have never been disappointed. We always get the setting section (booth in the back) we request and from then on we can expect excellent wine, attentive staff, smart entrees and inventive deserts. By instinct, they know our curtain time and have us out in perfect time for an ensembles concert or the opera. We’ll be back next week...
Food is exceptional. The pastries are on par with a cafe in Paris.
Great we will definitely be back. Food was truly wonderful, we had two specials and a few sides all cooked to perfection
Excellent and attentive service. We were there for a friend's birthday before a show at the Lincoln Center. The bartender was very friendly and catered to our child's request for Shirley Temple while we waited for our table. Our waiter knew it was our friend's birthday and brought out a candle dessert before the cheque very discreetly even though we hadnt talked about it. The food was good - I always get the croque madame with its side of salad and it didnt disappoint. Someone else ordered the duck and said it was excellent. All in all, a great pre or post Lincoln Center experience.
We have only been here for lunch prior to attending a matinee opera, but the several times we have eaten here the food, wine, and service have been exceptional. Our servers on this visit were especially attentive.
Light supper after the opera was quite a treat as their large tray charcuterie sampler was just right. This was followed by an exquisite onion soup that took the edge off 24 degrees temperature outside. Dessert crowned the meal, as the ÎLe Flottante Vanilla crème anglaise, praline rouge was excellent.
Wonderful food, but the service was the real story - exceptional!
An expertly prepared bistro meal, very high quality.
We had a lovely lunch here -- steak frites particularly good. It was surprisingly quiet, but with its location across from Lincoln Center, I'm sure it's often busy. There were many staff people on the floor, but we never seemed to be able to find one when we needed one. Service was slow paced, allowing for a very leisurely meal. With so many amazing restaurants in NYC, this was quite good, but did not live up to the hype.
We had two fabulous meals at Bar Boulud with exceptional service from the entire staff with special attention from Adam one of the waiters.
A great place to go for dinner after the opera since it is open late. The food is generally very good, though this time I had to send back my onion soup which was served lukewarm. A nice wine selection and friendly attentive service still made it a lovely evening
The food was excellent. Service was excellenr. The staff was very knowledgeable about the menu including wine pairings.
That are always consistent. Food was delicious as always!
The quality of their food has gone down significantly and prices have gone up unreasonably. They are now charging for what used to be complementary bread puffs. The overpriced “medium” burger was a tiny dried up brick with no flavor, fries cold and tasteless. So is pretty much anything else I have had there recently. Average to mediocre desserts at $14 a pop is shocking. Their rotating wine selection is the only bright spot, though $9 for a cheap sugary “hipster” Brooklyn IPA is embarrassing.
Bar Boulud is a find. The food was excellent and the service was attentive, knowledgable but not intrusive. We truly enjoyed ourselves. We appreciated the varied menu and the price point was great.
I Had a lobster omelet for $29. There was some lobster, but I summer in Bar Harbor, Maine and when you order a lobster omelet, it’s bursting with lobster, in every bite. The Boulud version had lobster in about a third of the bites. It was also described as including lobster sauce, which was missing. Otherwise an excellent experience.
One of my favorite places
Great food. Efficient service but no smiles or friendliness from the staff.
Went for lunch to celebrate the birthdays of 2 friends. They loved it. Wonderful food, well presented. Highly recommended.
Delightful and delicious brunch experience on a rainy Saturday before the opera.
$22 FOR A MARTINI. PLEASE, GIVE ME A BREAK. FOOD WAS OVERPRICED AND MEDIOCRE AT BEST.
NOT WORTH THE BOTHER. TOO MANY OTHER, BETTER RESTAURANTS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD
