Excellent Spanish tapas place, really good. And I’m Spanish :)
Although the food was good there is not much of a selection.
Food was good. Reasonable price especially during Happy Hour. The service excellent. Will go back again. Wish the chair is not so high. Need to contain the smell and smoke from the kitchen.
The food is good and comes out quick. Great spot with friends to share tapas and the sangria is delicious.
Loved the place! Everything was delicious. The fried lemon slices in the calamari was outstanding! Owner introduced himself, and remembered our name when we departed. We will definitely go back.
Food is amazing and very reasonably priced. Great service and good wine. Will definitely go here again.
Food was incredible. Wine was incredible. Service was incredible. Decor is cool but wish it had a bit more mood lighting.
Last minute decision to eat here after walking around Little Italy (and not finding a decent place without a one hour wait) turned into the BEST decision of the night! Order several dishes...especially the ones marked "Favorite!" on the menu...you won't be disappointed. One suggestion to owners is to add Tinto de Verano to their menu, especially in the warmer months. It was recommended to us by a friendly local at a bar in Sevilla and it was all we drank while we traversed Spain!
Amazing food! I highly recommend the grilled cheese :)
We absolutely loved our meal at Bar Bodega. They were very accommodating with our food allergies. I am vegetarian and gluten free and my husband is vegan. We both had enough options to choose from. The staff is very helpful and they will guide you through what is vegan/gluten free and what is not.
Outstanding service. Food was so-so. Nothing spectacular.
The food is outstanding!! Everything we tried was amazing. The meatballs are worth taking extras home! The staff is the most accommodating ever
Food portions are small but expected for tapas. the flavor however is absolutely vibrant. very very well seasoned for everything we ordered.
tacos are street style sized but come in 2. grilled chicken tapas is well marinated. lamb chops were a bit small but flavorful as well.
wine flights are 3 full sized glass servings. not sample sized.
I will come back here again.
Went to meet with some friends for a casual dinner. I ordered the cheese plate ($21) with a meat option ($4). I was disappointed with the amount of cheese on the plate - a single slice of manchego (about 1/5 oz), a single slice of Iberico (another 1/5 oz), and an oz of brie. The meat consisted of a 1/2 oz of Spanish ham. 2 oz of almonds and about an oz of olives rounded out the plate. Having worked in the back of the house, I've made my share of cheese plates for customers and this small portion was laughable. I complained to the server, and she said that "it's quality cheese". I'm pretty sure it came from Costco or Sysco, just like every other restaurant.
Very poor value; for $25 I expected much more.
I also had the lamb tacos which were very good, but overpriced at $8 for two small street tacos.
Good food, but poor value for your dollar. I won't be going back.
My colleague and I were in a San Diego for a conference and chose Bar Bodega for dinner since it served tapas. The restaurant is very laid back, not at all fancy but the food was delicious! We had albondigas, calamari, Brussels sprouts and one other dish I can’t remember. But it was all very good. Limited, but certainly adequate wine selection. Overall a delicious meal!
We loved the ambiance, service, and especially the food!!! We went during happy hour(something we discovered when we got there) and ordered practically every appetizer they serve!!! We loved their meatballs, papas bravas, deviled eggs, pan con tomate amongst other yummy dishes! We will definitely return!!! Very pleased with the taste of the food and their friendly service! Highly recommended!
Everything was fantastic and the owner was humble and attentive. The only thing that clashes with the ambiance is the giant big screen tv with sports
We travel to San Diego frequently and in the past would go to our favorite tapas place. But as all things must end so did our tapa bar. Trying Bar Bodega was a pleasant experience. The food was good, shrimp a bit chewy/over cooked. Sangria a bit weak. Employees cheerful, friendly and very helpful. The only draw back was the noise level which was loud enough a train would not be heard.
Excellent food, excellent drinks- recommend white sangria and cheese plate!
Two tacos combined are size of one street taco. Service took a long time when there was only one other couple in the entire restaurant. Good but not great, I would find other places to try again.
A bit pricey, but always a great time. The food is tasty and the wine selection is vast. This is a great spot to catch-up with friends or go on a date.
Mackenzie is a great server with awesome wine recommendations.
The owner was super nice and attentive, props to him for putting together such a great spot.
One of our favorite tapas places in San Diego, a bit hidden away from the main scene in Little Italy which is just fine. Nice selection of tapas, couple good Spanish beer choices, friendly servers, cozy place.
This is the second time my friends & I have come and both times the owner and the staff have been incredible! They are so friendly, the food is delicious, and the sangrias are affordable and tasty! Definitely recommend if you want delicious tapas, a great environment, friendly staff, and a fun night.
I always try to introduce new people to one of my favorite restaurants in Little Italy, and Bar Bodega NEVER disappoints.
We went here for my birthday. I was in Spain for my 21st birthday where I fell in love with Tortilla Espanola and I was so looking forward to the that and wine.
I made a reservation on the the patio so I could bring my dogs-2 small dogs-the website said pet friendly. It was a Monday at 8:00 and they were not busy. B/c of the dogs-I waited outside to catch someone’s eye. There was a bartender and someone else and they looked right at me and took to long to come over-there were 2/3 tables inside and one other table outside.
The hostess was rude/did not ask if I had a reservation and was not helpful told us to sit wherever. It took too long to get the second menu-they seated US with one menu. No one came to check on us-give us water or take a drink order. After 10 minutes we left because we were ignored. The staff were rude and I would never go back there and would tell anyone who asked about my experience. Service is everything
Food was not good, particularly for the price. Service was great though.
Bar Bodega was amazing! Some of the best Spanish tapas I’ve had in the states! The service was also fantastic! Brittany was our waitress and she was knowledgeable and super friendly! My husband and I were here on our honeymoon and they gave us dessert for free. Definitely recommend this restaurant!
food was absolutely delicious! We had a group of 6 for a bachelorette Sunday brunch, they were flexible with our reservation time and the staff was all so nice and very helpful!! Would absolutely return next time I'm in town.
I love this place. Really enjoy the setting and the food. The prices of the tapas are on the expensive side but as expected for tapas in America.
Great spot. Make a reservation, it’s pretty small.
Loved Bar Bodega. Great menu and everything was absolutely delicious. Relaxed cool vibe with a super nice staff.
Great tapas! Comparable to ones had in Barcelona!
Excellent food and service as always... love this place! Hey everyone, get off of India St and see what there is to offer.
I’ve been to Barcelona Spain. I love tapas and I can say that this restaurant had such delicious food. Even better than some of the food that I had in Spain. I wish I lived closer to the restaurant because I’d be eating there all the time.
we had a great time and a lovely dinner at Bar Bodega. The food was great (though on the slightly salty side) and the service was fantastic.
The food was excellent, every item we ordered was an explosion of taste. They had a nice wine selection and the service was great. The place is small only a few tables so make reservations. We will definitely be going back again.
Took my husband for a Father’s Day late night bite. Food was delicious and great wine selection. We had the Dourum (blended whites) from Portugal. Paired with croquetas de chorizo, calamari, and patatas bravas! Perfect amount. Our waitress was great also! Will definitely come back.
Great Ahi tostadas
