The service was great, the food was so good especially the JFC bao
Great authentic dishes and excellent drinks using various Japanese liquors serve a young, diverse, beautiful crowd. The atmosphere is energetic, summery, with an open air feel and DJ directed trendy house vibes in the heart of Clarendon. Impressive.
A unique Asian Fusion culinary experience. Everything we ordered was delicious. The service was great and the ambiance fun.
This is an okay option to visit with friends in my opinion. Service was okay, took forever to leave at the end of the meal because check situation took like 20 minutes. Cocktails are overpriced with little presentation. Food is okay. Sushi is fine. Nothing worth raving over. This place is best to visit when the weather is nice and you’re sitting on the patio.
A great place for noisy and lively w/pumping music and hard surfaces for sounds to bounce off of, including shrieking young women. The staff is professional and charming and efficient. The eats were delicious. Best tofu fried rice I've ever had. With margaritas, the check ballooned.
Good food, nice service, outdoor and indoor seating! Try the breakfast potatoes!
Server forgot to put food order in several times, brought out wrong food, food was cold and pork bao bun was just fat, no meat.
We enjoyed our first time at Bar Bao very much! Sally was so personable and a pleasure to talk with! The food was delicious and fresh! Service was great- we’re definitely going back within the week. Next time, we’ll try an outdoor table.
Wow the unlimited brunch and mimosas were soooo good! The only problem is that the servers tend to disappear and it's hard to find them, but they're so busy at this time that it's hard to complain. I will definitely be back for brunch :)
My request wasn’t acknowledged. I requested a particular server due to his attentiveness. Our server was fine but didn’t come around too often.
Went for bottomless brunch and it was delicious! Had a great server as well. Small plates but you can order as many as you want and the bao buns of course are amazing
Great service! Very nice and attentive manager and servers! The ambiance is super fun and the food is delish. I’m a big fan of their wonton nachos if you want to have a cheat meal haha
We had the best server and the overall experience was amazing
Everything was great except it took an hour to get our food!
Love this place!
Terrible, terrible service. It's incredibly loud in the restaurant as well.
I made reservation, went there, and saw the restaurant is closed, I was supposed to meet a friend, and we were both dumb founded. If they are gonna be closed, why did they accept our reservation?
Great food! We had a la carte brunch, the food came in small plates but was so delicious. I highly recommend the breakfast bao and chicken and waffles!! They were very friendly and nice. We were visiting Virginia and look forward to returning in the future!
The food and drinks are delicious. Go at Happy hour for great prices. My only complaint is that all of the accompaning sauces were too spicy. I like spicy, but these were nuclear. Have some tamer sauces would have sent dinner over the top.
We went there because we were going to a party later in the neighborhood. Also a friend of our family’s is part owner.
WE LOVED IT! I’m not much of a sushi person but everything was delicious! Especially the Bao Buns! And Peter made the experience so fun for us. We’ll definitely be back!
Great experience! Wait staff made sure we got to taste the entire menu, even bringing out food we didn’t order to make sure we got to try all of their best dishes! We never had to wait for a refill. We felt very taken care of!
Great food! Tasty menu. Our waiter was awesome and so helpful. The service was great! Our waters were never empty. We regret not trying this place out sooner as we are nearby but did not hear much about it. It’s unsuspecting and sneaky good! Will be back to try the other menu items.
First time at this establishment. Invited by a mutual friend. He told me that Bar Bao really parties on Saturday's. It was nothing short of the truth. I recommend Bar Bao any given Saturday! I will be back soon.
Great for a work group
Buena variedad y buenos precios
Good food service and drinks
We specifically went for the bottomless brunch, so our table of 6 practically tried everything on the menu. The pork belly bao and calamari were standout winners. Well that and the 99 cent mimosas. A lot was good. Some was meh. Overall too much creamy sauce put on top of food that would have already tasted delicious on its own (smoked salmon benedict drowning in hollandaise, seaweed salad that was better without the sauce and cheesesteak bao that sauce detracted from what was probably tasty but couldn't tell because it was overwhelmed by sauce). The service was really great, they checked in on us multiple times, made good recommendations, and made sure we could just talk and enjoy ourselves while they offered to select most of the orders. Have been there twice for brunch and both times was surprised that only a few other tables were taken. Guess must be more of a night spot.
Went there for brunch. I like the atmosphere but the food was just ok. Our server (Sara) was nice but she was forgetful on a few things.
Good place for happy hour. It's really a bar now than a restaurant. Sushi Special on Wednesdays and good happy hour prices everyday. Don't expect great restaurant service but what you might get at a typical Bart.
stopped in for their lunch special bento box for $15 every day for lunch, it was great you get to choose from several dumplings and sushi rolls. We will be back next Wed for their half price sushi special!
There was literally no one else in the restaurant and our food took over 20 minutes to come out. The server had told us our baos would come out quickly then went to sit in the corner to stare at his phone. I had to literally get his attention and he tried to compensate with sake shots for the table. I'm not sure who else the kitchen possibly could've been cooking for but the food took way too long. Food was not worth the price and the wait. Thanks, but no thanks.
Awesome spot! We’re very happy to come across Bar Bao. Not for people looking for a quiet atmosphere. It was lively. The service was excellent. The food was really good! We look forward to going back! Thanks
We arrived for our reservation and opted to sit outside for our meal. There were lots of high top tables available and outside was self seating. The food was delicious but it took nearly an hour for an food to arrive. We ordered an appetizer, but it was brought out with the dinner portion (not requested). Our server seemed interested in flirting with other patrons rather than inquiring about our needs. We had to flag down another server to refill our drinks. At no time did our server check on us while we were waiting for our food or apologize for the delay. The two top table next to us, which was seated at least 15 minutes after us received all their food (which most of it the same menu items) before us. Our food arrived after we sought out the server to inquire about our meal and came out in various intervals. Was disappointed with the overall experience and will probably not go back.
Probably a great spot at night as a bar but underwhelming as a restaurant for brunch.
Summary: Food was tasty but portions were extremely small for the price.
Food: I ordered three of the Bao buns (JFC, short rib, and braised pork belly). They were tasty, but very small—you could eat each bun in about one bite. My friend ordered an entree (the sesame poke bowl), and she liked it, but that looked like a small portion too.
Service: Our server was polite and friendly. We would have liked it if she had stopped by our table a little more often, though.
Ambience: I don’t recommend going during trivia if you want to be able to hear your companion(s).
Value: Not a good value. Unless you’re OK with spending a lot of money, don’t expect to get enough to eat.
the food really was not very good, the menu was obviously set up for a bottomless meal which my friend and i were not looking for, but the service was good. I definitely thought 2 of the 4 small plates i ordered were not fresh / kind of cold.
Really enjoyed the food and great service!
Great food & service! Will be back for the wings and dim sum :)
