Good food. Lousy service. Our waiter clearly did not want to be there and could not have been less engaged.
I decided to try this place out for a date night with my boyfriend. The waitresses were very lovely, and our food was fantastic! We even got a complementary green tea cheesecake afterwards. Great people, great service, would go again!
Very interesting food and place. Rebecca was wonderful
Really like Banyan. Good combination of interesting food and the ability to speak to friends without shouting. love the appetizers. Great place to share dishes.
It was a very special evening. They brought us champagne to help us celebrate and a few others came to check on us throughout. Everyone enjoyed dinner and experience! Cheers!
We went to Banyan Bar before a show at the Calderwood Pavilion for a wine our waiter was very friendly and smiley. He explained which items on the menu could be made gluten free & was very helpful! The food was delicious! I will definitely be back here & I definitely recommend Banyan Bar.
I love the food and drinks! Everything is very flavorful. The service is always kind of slow so that would be my only complaint.
Great place with good food to sit outside. Food quality is good. Outside is quiet. If you sit inside its bit noisy
Lovely evening on the patio. Food was vibrant and reasonable, bar is excellent but a little pricey. Waitstaff was great and the restaurant is very welcoming: brought a free desert to the table to thank us for coming. A great choice if you have tickets at the Calderwood or nearby.
We ate outdoors under trees but of course also near city streets, but better than most sidewalk cafe seating. Interesting and very enjoyable food and drinks. Avocado Baos, Dragon Noodles (just right for my taste), Thai Basil Pasta all great. And the chocolate moose dessert, while unusual, was delicious.
Overpriced and mediocre food. Recently visited to see The Purists. The weather was absolutely gorgeous this night so we sat outside; the atmosphere was fantastic, loved the seating area. The food wasn’t too great, I’ve had better for way less money. The drinks were weak too, I had to order two Painkillers to feel even the slightest bit of a buzz.
The best part of our dining experience was seeing Billy Porter who was sitting directly in front of me:)
The waiter was SO kind and attentive but not too much. He saw us get excited about a drink and brought us cute little tastes. The meal itself was creative and playful and delicious as well. Love banyan!
Overpriced, cold, unorganized. Was not worth the time or money.
Amazing service, food was off the charts good and had the best time
Food was creative and tasty, but expensive for the amount you get.
Best restaurant dinner I've had this year. Each dish was absolutely fantastic. We sat outside on the patio and loved the atmosphere. Service was prompt without being overbearing, and our server was very knowledgeable about each dish on the menu. Would highly recommend!
We sat outside and overall it was pleasant and it was a nice atmosphere but I would describe the food as reasonably good.
It was my first time here and I really enjoyed it! Beautiful design and great food! Drinks were ok
Great patio. Excellent gluten free choices. Yummy drinks. Beautiful interior.
Just had a great brunch here! Everything was delicious but our favorites were the fried oyster bao, fried pork dumplings (I would have taken home a jug of that sauce if they had let me), and the cold noodles. Can’t wait to go back!
The value for the food was okay. I think if you are curious about their food and would like to try it then I'd say go for it. I did really like the Banyan burger baos AND the tuna nachos. Super yum!
Great outdoor seating option, fun tiki drinks, large portions (opt to go as a big group 4+ and order a couple things family style). Favorite include: salt & pepper octopus, $1 dumpling special, and dragon noodles!
Food was fair and a bit overpriced
Lived up to expectations! Fantastic ambiance and very good food!
Lovely outdoor patio. Well-shaded, which we needed on a hot day with a newborn baby. Unhurried service for a Sunday brunch with nine people. Would return in a heartbeat.
Excellent place. I have never been disappointed so far. The food and drinks are great, the patio in the summer is just fantastic.
Delicious and unique food choices....from KFC bao with cauliflower to green tea cheesecake. All selections obviously prepared with attention to every detail. Beautiful setting with plants and overhead string lights. Waitress pleasant but slow to bring drinks, never offered to refill water and only cleared some of the plates on our table. I would return.
Fish was undercooked, burger patties over cooked. Nice ambiance but food and beer list are underwhelming for a “gastro pub”
yes for drinks
however food quality needs to improve dramatically
however would love to compliment the fabulous staff, team, ambiance and fabulous cocktails
Thanks for the champagne for our date, it really made the night special :)
Excellent food - good service
No real air conditioning during a heat wave in Boston made for an uncomfortable dinner. The staff telling us we shouldn’t complain about the heat because they were the ones working in it made it even more awkward. Food was just ok and portions were small for the price. Disappointing experience.
How nice to sit on Banyan Bar’s lovely shaded ( and quiet!) patio in the late afternoon. It was too early for my friends and I to want dinner, but definitely not too early to enjoy an assortment of very delicious $1 dumplings. We didn’t order dinner on this visit, but I would be happy to try several of the menu items on future visits.
Outdoor seating just lovely, food was only mediocre
The brunch menu contained almost no food options but listen many of the drink options twice. Brunch is still a meal guys...
The food and drinks were delicious and service was awesome! This is a great place to go for a celebration!
Amazing. Just amazing. Cocktails are to die for, end every plate we tried was absolutely delicious. The staff had unique care and attention towards our son who has severe allergies- and he had a blast. It's great that there are places like this.
Great food with great ambiance. Mussels and fries were amazing. Drinks were great as well. Will definitely be back.
The restaurant was very accommodating to our group and very careful to help with a shellfish allergy. The waiter made great recommendations and the food was incredible, per usual. The outdoor patio is great for a summer night! Only downfall: the bread pudding is no longer on the dessert menu. Truly tragic, it was my favorite!
