Not understanding the one star reviews-we’ve dined at this restaurant many times and mostly been very satisfied. Maybe it’s the difficulty getting good help and supplies lately due to COVID. We were needing Banning’s Burgers and they were very good. Worth the yogurt and fruit to make up for the calories the next day. :) Chase was a very attentive server. We will return.
Small portions, charged for ice tea refills, out of half the items on the menu
Very nice restaurant. Excellent atmosphere, food and service. Great starters and superb soup. Entree selection is diverse and tasty.
I made a reservation and they confirmed it and when I got there they were closed
Food was great service was adequate but too noisy.
I booked this reservation on Open Table for Wednesday September 22nd 2021 at 7:00 p.m. on September 10th 2021. I even received an email and text on Tuesday September 21st 2021 requesting that I confirm as to whether or not I would be there-I replied that I would. Imagine my surprise upon our arrival on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. to find that Bannings was closed. There was a sign on the door stating the restaurant was only open Thursday through Sunday.
In the future, Open Table needs to verify with restaurants using their service what the exact operating hours are. I will no longer be using Open Table to make reservations as frequently now.
Bannings serves good food at reasonable prices in a recently upgraded setting. Friendly staff interested in making us feel welcome and appreciated
The food was amazing and cooked perfectly! The service was great and love the small hometown feel.
Pre-performance at the Avalon. The restaurant was crowded but we were seated quickly and had a very pleasant dinner. My husband thought his rockfish dinner was one of the best he’d ever had.
Wonderful Chicken Pot Pie, Chicken Livers and Manhattans.
The food and service were excellent!
We went on Valentines Day so they had specials that included prime rib and lobster. I had the prime rib and it was delicious! It was a bit loud but it is a tavern after all.
Quaint place, actually it's adorable. Small, decorated nicely, seating is a bit tight. Our service was excellent, the food was excellent. The menu is fairly limited. I looked the menu up on line before making my reservation. I found food and wine that I can drink. I cannot drink wines from US, the wine list online showed an imported White. When we arrived there wasn't 1 imported wine. Therefore, if you are flexible about your wine selection you will enjoy the food, service and ambiance.
Nice friendly bar and tavern. Lot of locals but server treated us like we were one of them. Excellent selection of beers on tap. Will be there again soon.
If you like a locals happy hour crowd with friendly service and great food- it's the place to go. I'm not a local but eat at Banning's before every show I go to at the Avalon- park once- eat dinner- walk next door (literally next door) and catch some live music! Who can ask for more! I do recommend reservations
Happy hour on a Friday evening so it was very noisy at our table in the main bar. Settled down after 7 PM so it was reasonable during our meal. Food is good: carefully prepared and served. Service was attentive and friendly. Prices reasonable and a good draft beer selection. Very convenient if you are going to the Avalon, which is directly accessible. We'll be back.
Great food great service perfect for downtown activities
Great food. Lots of choice reasonable price lively atmosphere
Always a wonderful place for a beer, light snack, lunch or dinner. Great value for the price.
Guinness stew and shepherd pie are amazing.
Food was great and server was very attentive as always. Good selection of beer on tap.
Holiday gathering co workers ordered grill cheese, cheese not even covered the whole bread. Looked like one slice of cheese on the sandwich. Out of oysters, also rye bread. 2 orders were suppose to have other sides came out with chips.
One sandwich had something like black plastic on the plate.
I was displeased with the meal. Usually I have found it to be a decent place to eat a meal but for the money the issues experienced should not happen. The crab dip was small and extremely fishy tasting, the juice on my filet was very salty and running all over plate into my onion rings which were then soggy, the Brussels sprouts done on outside hard in center. I do not complain but if you want to be a great tavern be that...if you want to be upscale restaurant then be that ...if you can't do both pick one .
The waitress was wonderful. She was very attentive and knowledgeable about the food. It was a great evening.
Good bar food and very noise
My husband and I had dinner there on a Friday night. It was a little loud, but not too bad. My husband had the Rockfish and I had the Braised Short Ribs, both were fantastic. They only had cheesecake for their dessert selections so we did not partake in dessert. The wait staff was very nice and attentive. We will definitely return the next time we are in Easton.
We ate at Bannings Tavern while in town for the annual Waterfowl Festival. The chowder was, as the menu says, 'world famous' and the crabcake was one of the best I've had - which is saying a lot on the Eastern Shore. The crab cake was lumps of backfin with what seemed like shredded crabmeat 'filler' - cooked perfectly (soft on inside with slight crust on outside). The sound level was moderate since we were seated near the bar - and folks were celebrating the Waterfowl Festival - but all were cordial. The staff was very efficient and pleasant. All in all - a very nice experience that I'd recommend to anyone.
A fun corner tavern with above average food.
This was a quaint tavern. I had the prime rib and it was cooked perfect. The staff was very friendly
My wife and I enjoyed an excellent dinner in a very relaxed and cozy environment. Bannings is one of our favorite restaurants in town. Great food at a reasonable price
The beef short ribs had a marvelous sauce, but were very tough and dry. I ate only a couple of bites. I’m glad I had a large salad prior to the main course.
A terrific lunchtime treat
Had a birthday lunch with friends. The atmosphere is fun, the service friendly and the food is superb - especially the clam chowder and ribeye sandwich. The ribeye in baguette and au jus was one of the best ever. They also have a great Cobb Salad and lots of burgers available. This is the seond time we've been to Easton and this is our favorite pub.
We have dined here often and Saturday was the first time we had a poor meal and service. Not sure what happened but several of us had the Pork special and all of us thought the meat was tough and had hard spots that were not edible. One person had the beef special (short ribs) and thought the flavor was not as pleasant as it should have been.
The servers were well meaning but not as attentive as usual and required several reminders about simple requests.
We hope it will be better on our next visit.
We have been in a week long trip up the eastern shore . We stayed in Easton one night which is a beautiful little town . Our dinner that night was such a disappointment! We were sat a lovely table in this quaint establishment! That was the best part of the evening . Our server could not tell us the catch if the day . She had to go ask and then come back . Our drink order was messed up . Our meal was not good at all . The steak had no flavor and tough . The baked potato was minute . My salad and my husbands crab soup was average . Then our bill was messed up . We wished that we had chosen another rest! The night before we were in Cape Charles , Virginia and has one of our all time favorite meals .
We like Bannings Tavern b/c the food, drinks and service are consistently good!!!!
Bannings Tavern in Easton MD has the best food I have had in ages. It's an active bar with many great beers and also has a quieter dining room. I had some wonderful clam chowder and the most delicious chicken livers. Not something that you find on the menu very often. Also we had an attentive server. An excellent evening.
Love Bannings Tavern. Great atmosphere, great service
As good as bar food gets! Excellent burgers and sublime soft shell crabs. Ample drinks, generous pours. Dependable spot for pre-theater chow
We love the charm of Easton and Bannings just adds to it. The Rockfish was perfectly prepared. It was not just the usual broiled or fried but was seared and served with couscous and asparagus. The Shepherds Pie was absolutely wonderful. The lamb tender and very generous portions. We love this place and as always the clam chowder is one of a kind and spectacular. Service friendly and atmosphere fun.
