Dinner: Sunday-Thursday 5:00pm - 9:00pm
Friday-Saturday 5:00pm - 10pm
We have been here a few times over the past years. Each time the service and food have gone down hill. Nice place but probably won’t go back
Met a friend for lunch. A classy bar setting. Service was very good, attentive but unintrusive. We were not rushed. The food was good. A pleasant experience and we would go again.
Went to show at Avalon, had a good meal at Bannings. Good food, good price. Enjoyed!
Pre show dinner at Avalon Theatre
Nice night out. They are a good place for varying tastes. Everything from chicken pot pie to seared tuna to burgers. Great on tap beer selection and very good wine selection. Service was a bit slow taking our order, but fine otherwise.
Nice food and an enjoyable bar ambience.
We picked Bannings for our Thanksgiving eve family dinner. Everyone was pleased with the freshness and quality of the food. The service was gracious and we love the the lively neighborhood atmosphere. It's where the people meet for good times. Our guests were impressed. Being a vegetarian with a gluten free spouse they are always willing to make adjustments to their offerings without hesitation. Local farm to table is also high on our list. I hope they will continue to expand the menu to include more creative vegetarian and vegan dishes. Prices are excellent considering the overall experience.
My husband and I were in Easton for Thanksgiving and decided to dine at Bannings Tavern. We had a glass of wine at the bar before dinner and the bartender was not very friendly. The hostess wanted to seat us at a small table when there were booths opened. We asked to sit at a booth and she was not at all happy with us. However, our server was very friendly and made up for the negative vibes we received from the bartender and hostess. Not sure I would return to this restaurant on our next visit to Easton!
Food was good value - kitchen was a bit slow which was fine as we weren’t in a hurry and we were a party of 8. Staff was friendly. We felt that some items were better than others - liked the Shepard’s pie & burgers. Soup and salad were just ok.
A really special local favorite with a great menu. Looking forward to our next visit.
It's just "okay". Online menu isn't what they are actually serving and disappointing that oysters weren't on the menu. Server was inattentive - "I had some things to take care of". Used to be a better option.
We often stop in Easton for lunch en route to visit relatives on the Eastern Shore, and we usually dine at Bannings Tavern. This time, the kitchen seemed a little off - all of our burgers were a little over-cooked, and even the grilled cheese we ordered was burned. Maybe there's been a change of kitchen staff? Otherwise, everything was great - we love the neighborhood-hangout feel of the restaurant.
Our scallops were only Luke warm. Minimal black bean and tomato.
Our waitress appeared very stressed and distracted. Asked for more bread and never got it.
Our order was not taken for an hour. 90 min until food served.
A bit disappointed for Bannings.
Had a delicious dinner with my wife. I had the petite filet and my wife had the prime rib which were both cooked exactly as ordered. We are local and often dine at Bannings. Always excellent service and a warm welcoming atmosphere.
Great service and a variety of entres we both had fish plates and both were fresh.
Went 10/26/2018 to celebrate a birthday. I had the house burger (solid), fries (very good). Another guest had the large filet ("delicious") and the birthday celebrant had a rack of lamb (she sucked the bones it was so good). Drinks were also good. A bit pricey but not over the top. Very good.
We had a reservation for 4. Nice booth and seated quickly. All went downhill from there. Waitress was inattentive and service very slow. Many things on menu not available. My wife had prime rib that was not hot (room temp at best). Will not go back.
Great food. Great hospitality. The Guinness is top of the line. The Rock Fish with coucous is delicious as well as the braised short ribs. Clam chowder and crab cakes are excellent. Outdoor seating is great for meeting the local residents. Don't miss this opportunity for an enjoyable evening.
Very friendly and popular gathering spot in town. Excellent food from local sources prepared perfectly. Try it and you will love it.
Food and drinks were excellent!
Best filet mignon in the area. Fresh fish. Great soups Attentive, happy wait staff!
We had had a table to the to the left as you enter the side door from Washington Street. The A/C was not too good. The room was hot.
Not sure why we haven’t had Bannings on our dining out list, but it’s there now!
Always enjoy Bannings.
Met several friends for dinner before a jazz concert right next door at the Avalon Theater. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, service was very nice and then walked right up to our concert seats.
Best shrimp and grits I have had since I left Charleston, SC and the atmosphere was great.
Declined since our last visit. Both food and service were so so at best. Our last visit I was so impressed but things have changed. Too noisy also.
Great place to catch a burger or some traditional eastern shore favorites. Extensive beer list and bartenders are knowledgeable about their drinks. At night you can park in Hills drug store parking lot.
Indifferent service. Prime rib far from the requested "rare".
Stephen directs a fine restaurant! Menu is timely and has great selections, appetizers are well selected, and beverages are great. Bar is often a bit noisy, but in the booths across from the bar, the noise level is moderate and quite acceptable. The servers are friendly and quite competent, as well as very accommodating.
Great food and a great server. Specialty drinks were great also.
Had a casual meal before a show at the adjacent Avalon Theatre. Really good and friendly service, lots of beverage choices ( a beer from Burley Oak for me), and the fish and chips are the best I've had. We will be back more often!
The restaurant is nice and in a good location. That said, the food was just very mediocre. It wasn't bad - but it was not very good either. The presentation especially could be improved.
We have come to expect a great meal at Banning's and have never been disappointed. This evening the halibut and the crab cakes were exceptional.
Very slow service from both bar and kitchen. Patrons were leaving the restaurant without being served after being told “You’ll just need to be patient”.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Bannings. This was my second time in Cambridge and my second time dining in Historical downtown Easton, MD. I am in love. The food and service was great, even when a couple next to us was fussy, the demeanor of the waiting staff was pleasant, positive and satisfying. Thank you for DELICIOUS food and a wonderful experience in Easton. We will be back!
We were visiting the area so this was our first visit. We were seated promptly. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was friendly and very efficient. The food was wonderful. We even stayed for coffee after dinner. The only down side is that they share the bathrooms with the theater next door so you need to go through the side door to the theater and down in the elevator. Other than that, it was a wonderful dinner.
The service was not good! When our appetizers was placed on our table we had to ask for silverware. Clam chowder was very salty, had to go to the bar and order my second drink, my wife’s massed potatoes can fresh out of the cooler and my braised short ribs were very chewy! (Not sure how you can cook something for 4 hours and have it chewy)
They are not ready for the busy season!
No better burger on the Shore. Lively atmosphere, great pre theater dining
We’ve eaten here before and given Bannings high marks but this was hopefully just an off night for them. The food was cold. The clam chowder was way too salty. The pot pie was thrown together with premade, frozen vegetables - overall totally without flavor. The crab cake was okay but the cold fries ruined that dish. Overall, very disappointing this time.
A warm, friendly and attractive place — not too big — for lunch or dinner, and the food is always great (the chicken livers are like crack: you just can’t stop) and fairly well priced. The decor is like a slightly upscale pub, set on an inviting downtown corner with lots of windows, with old woodwork and a mirrored bar, and the seating is pleasantly cozy. The bar is just the right size for making new friends: not too big, not too small. Best to get a table in the front room: as with most restaurants, the back room lacks the warmth of the main room, although it offers more privacy.
