Bann Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
came here for dinner-- food was excellent and the presentation was beautiful--everything we ordered was extremely tasty. But but we did not realize how big the appetizers were (wish waiter would have warned us). Would definitely come back again--but would only order 1 appetizer for 2 people if you are planning on ordering main meal as well.
This was my second visit to Bann. As before they provide large portions of well cooked food with a doable price and lots of those free Korean appetizers. The one downside is the only bathrooms are co-ed, so if you are a guy expecting no wait when you have to go, that might not be the case
It is also somewhat loud so not a perfect setting if quiet is your goal.
My cousins and I had a wonderful time at Bann! The ambiance was spectacular, the food was both delicious and creative, and the restaurant was directly next to the theater where we saw a show so we were able to relax, knowing we were so close. I'd definitely visit again!
One of my favorite restaurants in Manhattan and best one for Korean. The BBQ is great as you can cook the food yourself on the BBQ at your table. All ingredients are fresh and delicious. The dol sot bipimbop is also a great dish. I highly recommend this restaurant!
My husband and I visited with our 18 year old son and three twenty-something guests from Germany. We all had a great time cooking on the grills and trying different things. We had meat-eaters, vegans, vegetarians, etc. and everyone was happy. It was fun, our waiter was very nice and helpful and the food was great. We went before a show at New World Stages next door and it was great. Super location, dining room was festive and lively and attractive, food was great. And, dessert was super, which I had not expected. Great! We will go back!
This used to be my favorite restaurant, and I still like the food and service, but... During our last visit, there was a huge party group of he "bridge and tunnel" type, a crowd of about 40 was loud, rowdy, uncouth, and just unbearable. It ruined the meal for all of us. The host/manager was clearly annoyed also, but did nothing at all to try to quell the melée.
Additionally, on the other side of us, there was a couple with a crying/screaming baby. Surely this should not be permitted or tolerated by the management?
I followed up our dinner with a lengthy e-mail to the management that evening but the response: "Yes...it was loud...sorry....Hope you'll come back." Are they kidding? I used to love this place but will not return. What a shame. If you're one who loves the screams and cheers of low-class party-makers, you'll enjoy this restaurant.
Food not bad but nothing to rave about! Won't be returning unless someone else is paying. Dumpling are bland don't order them. Wings are good if you like general tso chicken. BBQ is well marinated but the are gas flat grills not the best way to make Korean BBQ. Great atmosphere friendly fast service. I've had better so I was expecting more but we didn't leave hungry.
We even a Saturday night at 9pm and restaurant was really far from crowded. So very enjoyable for us as we were on a date night and it was really not loud obviously.
Moscow mule cocktails has been our poison for the night even if although we ordered 2min before 9pm end of happy hour, we didn't get the half price on the first round ;)
The food 'Korean Bbq' beef for me, shrimp for my wife was simply perfect. They are serving large portion and you cook yourself at your table. Nothing to say about this we enjoyed every bit of the meat, fish and all sides.
As French we do not expect our waitress to constantly come check on us. But we like to see them when you need them. On this matter no mistake again, they came to clean when it was needed and were not constantly interrupting our meal.
The place is really nice and I could see it a perfect fit as well for a larger group.
Will definitely go again
The first thing I'll say is: GET THE CHILI CHICKEN WINGS. I'd go back just for those, even though the rest of the food was mediocre, the service slow (but at least it was friendly, and they did a great job keeping the water glasses filled), and the noise level WAY too loud. Couldn't hear a thing my wife was saying to me the whole time. But those chicken wings were gold, man. Bottom line, get the chicken wings, but maybe do 'em takeout/delivery instead of dining at the restaurant.
This was our first time at Bann. We enjoyed it! It's described as "upscale" and it is quite nice, but it's also very family friendly. There were lots of families there with children of all ages on a Thursday night at 7:00 during NYC restaurant week. It's a fun place to eat! We ordered off the restaurant week menu - Bo ssam bun (pork belly) & cham chi hwe (tuna sashimi) appetizers. We both loved the pork belly buns. Yum! My date ordered the tuna and I didn't try it. He said it tasted fine, but he didn't like it. Nothing wrong with it, just not his taste. I'm afraid I don't have more detail on that. For the entree, we both had Korean BBQ - Kal bi (short rib) & an shim (filet mignon). Both portions were very generous. I could have used more lettuce for our wraps, but we just ate the extra meat with chopsticks. Both were seasoned well and, of course, cooked to perfection by us at the table side grill. TIP - That grill gets quite hot, so dress in a layer you can remove. We tried both of the restaurant week desserts - omija dragon (pastry w/ mousse & berries) & banana sabayon (custard w/ a sesame cookie). The mousse and custard were very yummy, but the pastry lacked flavor and flake.
