Delicious as always with great service and interesting menu choices. We always bring our out of town guests here for dinner!
dining al fresco was lovely, overlooking the river; however, the service was slow; never had that happen before at this restaurant, but never sat outside before. still a great place to dine!
The fish was very fresh and well prepared. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the wine list and pairing with seafood.
We had a late dinner on the patio, getting there around 9:30pm on a Thursday night. The place still had a good buzz to it and the service and food were both excellent.
The "Harry's" name is synonomous with dining in the area and the Seafood Grill is no exception. There is a lot to reccommend it but some aspects were just average at best. On the whole, it is crazy overpriced, the servers were average, not awful, just average. Some of the food was o.k. - not great but some was outstanding. I come from a food service background so perhaps I'm a little more critical than the general public but, with just a little bit of work, Harry's could step up the game of this place to being exceptional. I'd love to go there again and see how it would be a second time but, it's too expensive for anything more than a special occassion.
Food is fabulous. Parking is the drawback.
We weren't really that impressed. Waiter was not welcoming. I asked for birthday celebration for my guest and they didn't do anything special, including sitting us in the back table farthest from the water when the rest of the tables were empty. The food was decent, but the overall feel took away from it.
One of our favorites. Raw clam selection is great
Previously, the hamachi ponzo was served in a divided dish, thus keeping the chips served along side crisp. Piling that particualr cerviche right on the plate with the chips results in soggy chips.
The bartender, Matty, was attentive and polite. He seemed very knowledgeable as he discussed food with couple next to me.
My friend and I took a table in the bar area.
Our Server, Brad, started out good but lost his steam halfway through our meal. We went for long periods of time without seeing him and when he came back we had to remind him of our previous request.
Not a seafood eater, I ordered a burger. It was delicious. The fries were greasy/soggy but I don't need them anyway so that kept me from eating them.
One of our favorites. The food and service never disappoint.
Went for a double celebration and food was very good. Service was efficient but a little stiff and cool towards us
Having two young children I don't get out as much as I used to, but when we go out, it's usually to Harry's Seafood. For years it was our go-to (before kids) and we went often and were always satisfied. I just think, though, that the quality of the service and food isn't quite what it used to be. Not great service...well, that speaks for itself. It's unfortunate, though, that the food isn't as innovative as it used to be and the quality isn't as good. The fish I had last night was not a great cut. Didn't have much flavor and had a lot of sinew. Too expensive to let it go. I think we're going to search around for a new "go-to". Delaware has far too many good options to keep overpaying. Also, since we don't get out much, I want it to count.
This is a fabulous restaurant. I don't understand any of the negative reviews. The fried oysters and the ceviche sampler were extraordinary.
Have eaten here many times in the past but it was our first time here in a while. Everything was great, fantastic selection of seafood as usual, including ceviche, raw bar selections, and lots of great fresh fish choices. I had a ceviche sampler and the crabcakes, and both were fantastic. Great wine selection and a respectable beer selection as well.
I've never had a bad meal at Harry's. It does get very crowded at times and the wait staff sometimes has trouble keeping up, but all in all I love dining there. The food is always fresh and delicious.
Everything was great. We've eaten there before but that night was extra special. Appetizers to desserts all delicious.
The food was excellent, everything we ordered was prepared with care and was so very tasty, the service however was a grade D-. Our waiter mumbled about 30 words total throughout our dinner and had zero personality. This was a special occasion, my stepdaughter had graduated from the University of Delaware, so this certainly took some air from the occasion. I would still go back, but not if I have to be served by the same waiter.
What can be better than eating delicious seafood, sipping wine while sitting outside overlooking the river! A fun way to spend a holiday Saturday!
We were thrilled when we arrived as first-time guests to this restaurant. It was beautiful, scenic and we were seated outside right by the water--wonderful! As it was my birthday dinner, I went for the big entree, the Lobster Cioppino, $37. My husband got cod. When they arrived, the entrees looked beautiful. But the first bite of the "cioppino" told me I had made a mistake. Despite huge shrimp, lobster and a few mussels, the broth was tasteless. It was as though the chef threw the seafood into some tomato water and nothing else. My husband HATES to return food so I didn't return it or say anything about it to him or the waiter. When he tasted the broth near the end of the meal, he knew. Then he felt bad he'd taken me there.
Returned to Harry's Seafood after having an AMAZING experience with food & service during our first visit some months ago. I guess when the bar is set that high, expectations are possibly too high. This visit was a bit less extraordinary, but very nice. Most importantly, the food was again excellent, but definitely better during our first visit. A seafood restaurant that's out of lemons was a bit of a bummer. Our reservations were made over a week in advance for a very special occassion. It was nice to sit outside, but not so great to stare at the parking lot. Server was polite, but seemed to be running on 2 hours sleep... no suggestions regarding the menu and he spoke so slowly I thought he was going to fall over. We'll definitely go back!
All was great, when we ordered dessert, they delivered with "Congratulations" on the plate, very special and this was done without anyone requesting this. Food was awesome!
My tuna dish was one of the best I have ever had. The calamari was so tender! Everyone else at the table said their fish was delicious. Most importantly, our waiter, John, was the best waiter we have had in a very long time. He was so professional- from taking the food order from the ladies first, to serving us without asking who had what! Our water glasses were filled without asking. His attitude and service was impeccable! And I am very very picky about good service! All the service people at Harrys should take a lesson from him!
It was difficult to get a drink from the bar if you did not have a seat.
Been here many times. A perfect setting for a long lunch. Generally the food is excellent.
I felt the food was below average. Nothing stood out and most of it we didn't finish. We started with oysters and clam chowder which were good. Next were the drunken clams - found them a little dry which is surprising since they are in sauce. The Poke was inedible and my husbands fish dish was also a disappointment. For the money I didn't think the food was near what it should have been.
great softshell crabs!would go back if in Delaware.Waiters was very good(friendly and helpful with the menu).
Food was excellent as was the service.
Always good food and service. Lovely patio seating with wonderful soft shell crabs in season.
Have always liked Harry's, and I must say the service has dramatically improved. It was the 1 thing that needed to get better, and it really has. It has achieved 'world class' dining.
Great dinner. The Black Bass in coconut/mango sauce and the filet w/ scallops were excellent. The add-on spinach salad was very good. The butter was too cold to spread but the bread was good. The apple crisp dessert would have been better if the apples were chopped into smaller pieces and in the same bowl as the vanilla gelato.
Our waitress was not the friendliest person but got the job done.
Service was very good, crabcakes were delicious! Ate out on the terrace-a beautiful evening overlooking the river!
If you love seafood and don't mind paying a higher price for it, this is a great place to try! Everything is fresh and their portions are just right.
for the price, I was dissapointed and price never bothers me. Now, i'm more of a Savoy guy b/c i'm a landlover and it suits me better.
Harry's almost unfailingly serves great seafood that is well-prepared and beautifully presented. My only minor criticism of our most recent meal at Harry's is that the lightly battered soft-shell crabs (which are usually fabulous) had absorbed a bit too much oil while cooking and tasted a tad bit off, as if the oil used for deep-frying them hadn't been changed in a while. We went late in the day on Mothers' Day, so it might have been attributable to a long and unusually busy day for the restaurant. My family and I love Harry's, though, and have never had any complaints before, so I'm sure we'll be back for more wonderful seafood!
Excellent food & service!! The Rawbar was so fresh and the server was outstanding.
All Parties Pleased
Everyone at our Mother's Day dinner was thrilled with their meal. The wine was crisp and light; the oysters and seafood dishes were fresh, and the side dishes were great. Our waiter was informative and attentive. It made the day special in a good way.
Harry's is a great place to meet and eat
Way too expensive for what you receive.
Great dinner and great waitress (Ali). Her recommendations were perfect.
food was okay. Not spectacular. Avocado sauce with calamari appetizer just did not go well together. Dessert was excellent.
