We celebrated Father’s Day, and it lived up to our expectations! If you liked Harry’s Seafood, you will love Banks. Everything we ordered was delicious! Oh, and by the way, they have the BEST oyster shooters you have ever had!
My crab cakes were "doughy" and the menu description said asparagus--I found 1 tiny little piece buried in the arugula. I liked the whole experience better when it was "Harry's". The drinks at the bar were the best thing in the whole evening. Service was mediocre and so was our table. Probably wouldn't be in a hurry to go again. It used to be my favorite place. Very disappointed.
Took my Dad here for a Father's Day lunch. We loved everything about this place - especially the oysters! Our entrees were perfectly portioned! Our drinks were excellent! Our Waiter was great - very attentive and humorous!
Early Fathers Day celebration. The food and service was very good. The calamari was very tender. We ordered the crab melt, sliders, lobster roll and seafood pot. Everything came out hot, and very tasty. You must try the desserts and take advantage of having the pastry chef on site. We did. Neither the key lime cake or the sorbet disappointed. I would go again! We sat outside so the traffic was a bit loud but not the restaurants fault.
Wife ordered the lobster which was fine, I ordered the surf and turf. After 2 tries of trying to get my steak done right I finally ate the second steak which was still not the way I wanted it but my wife was eating her dinner and I needed to eat as well. To my surprise they ended up taking off the $42.50 for my dinner which was very classy of them. Portion of the steak was small and I just have a hard time wondering why they couldn't get my steak done medium - both times came back with no pinkness in the middle. I do prefer Harry's on Naamans Road for their food and Banks for their atmosphere.
Best restaurant in Wilmington by far with superior management and food
Great experience! The food was excellent and the service very attentive. Love the atmosphere. Unfortunately weather didn't allow for dining outside but looking forward to that the next time.
The menu is less varied since its affiliation with Harry's ended. The raw bar remains excellent, but the seafood does not seem as fresh, not a good development for a seafood place. The service is good. The wine list has crept into the somewhat over-priced range, and the red wine is served warm. Overall, the restaurant was pretty empty for a Saturday night; it deserves to be. They could use a real upgrade to their seafood, and an effort to return to the high quality of a few years ago.
One of the best seafood restaurants I have experienced and I have eaten at seafood restaurants in Maryland, New York, Connecticut, and Maine. Great selection and very tasty shellfish. My lady friend has some GI problems but loves seafood. The waiter knew exactly what she should order. Th martini crab meat and 5 gigantic shrimp was a perfect meal. Hats off to the chef.
First time here and can’t say I was impressed. The food wasn’t spectacular. I was hoping it would be better for the price. The service was okay, great in the beginning but towards the end had to wait a while for dessert menus and then the check due to larger parties coming in. The rainbow trout wasn’t anything special, wish I would have chosen the crab cakes. The ceviche was good but I felt the portion was small. Don’t think I would come back with the other neighboring restaurants in the area.
Birthday lunch for a friend. Was great except that we felt very rushed by the server and there did but appear to be a huge waiting list to be seated plus there were many empty tables. Just annoying when one chooses a restaurant specifically for a special occasion.
Lovely from start to finish! Tess did a great job with our large party.
Food was exceptional. My 2nd time here. This time was business lunch for out of town clients. Banks didn't disappoint.
The ceviche is sublime. The lobster salad was phenomenal. The blackened scallop salad was a hit.
Great food, wonderful service, large table accommodated all 12 of us in an area that wasn’t noisy so we could easily converse. I highly recommend Banks Seafood Kitchen!
food was not good! would not recommend the steak! service was wonderful!!
food & service - very good
portions - small
prices - high
Much quieter if you sit outside. The bar is very noisy - dining room is not bad. Outside is the best atmosphere, as long as it is not too hot.
Ordered fish sandwich and fried. Too oily. Very expensive place. Wanted to order a salad but very expensive.
Formerly Harrys Seafood. Always a good place to grab some quality seafood and relax by the river. Overall experience was very good. Recommend the raw bar & clam chowder.
This was a very enjoyable experience. The service was great, as was the food. The selection of wines available by the glass was top notch. They have an amazing array of oysters if that's your thing. We started with a few different types of oysters. The companion ordered the sashimi tasting and the big eye tuna togarashi. I ordered the broiled jumbo lump crabcakes. They were some of the best I've had anywhere. No breading, very little filler. It's all about the crab meat. I would return here without hesitation.
Great service, excellent seafood. Fresh and delicious. Outstanding oysters. An inspired pastry chef.
Service was excellent and food was good, however the appetizers and salad came out too late
Excellent food and service. Especially loved dessert!
Always enjoy coming here....so you rebranded, but what else will you change? Don't just change your name/sign. the interior look needs a new fresh look too
Fresh seafood, tasty oysters! Will return soon! Creative menu!
Been back to Banks Seafood kitchen a number of times since the rebranding. Overall, I like the changes in the menu. The ahi tuna crisps are exceptional IMHO. Great appetizer to have, notice they've added smoked salmon crisps as well. That's for a future visit. Our table had the big eye tuna and buttermilk battered softshell crabs this visit. Both wonderful. Not rushed. Solid service. Recommended.
We celebrated my Mom’s 75th birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the wait staff was awesome!
Excellent meal. Service was good. A little pricey. But nice for a special event
Great food! We love the raw bar. We went at lunch time and brought our 5 month old and we were delightfully surprised that they had a stand actually meant for holding the car seat. Overall experience was wonderful. However the restrooms were disappointing, I have never mentioned a restroom in a review before but their restrooms were sub par.
Absolutely delicious from appetizers to main courses! The service was beyond perfect. Relaxing afternoon celebrating our mother’s.
We had the fried oysters and they were delicious. The trout was not memorable and I wouldn't bother again. The sauteed soft shell crabs were great but the $ 42 price was ridiculous so we probably wont do that again either. Had the cheesecake which was good.
The Chardonnay I had was a nice wine but cost a lot more than the "house Chardonnay" that was offered when it was Harry's Seafood.
It seems as if the new owner has jacked up the prices. I used to feel that this place was good value but I am not so sure now.
We have enjoyed this restaurant when it was Harry's Seafood. We meet my 92 year old father who lives in Baltimore half way, while we come down from Bucks County. We would not drive 1.5 hrs again. While the service was very good, the food was so bland (but expensive), it was almost inedible. The ceviche had no taste, and the calamari was super breaded with bread crumbs and greasy. I did not dare order anything else. They took the ceviche off the bill. My father had the oyster stew which he said was mediocre and watery. The 2 wives had the lobster salad which they said was good.
I'm not sure what happened, but they need some serious quality control.
We enjoyed our Mother’s Day dinner.
My halibut was flakey and moist with nice flavor. The included fried Brussels sprouts were a good accompaniment.
My husband’s whole lobster had a sweet and fresh flavor.
Our sons enjoyed soft shell crabs and rare tuna.
We went there for Mother's Day. I was thrilled to see soft shell crabs on the menu and I think they are the best I've ever had. Small and so very tender. The batter was light and crispy, you almost could not distinguish from sauteed crabs. Perfect! A wonderful spring treat.
We have been regulars for years and will continue to do so!
This was a great place to have a big family meal. We will be back!
We truly enjoyed our Mother’s Day brunch at Bank’s. Fantastic seafood, friendly and knowledgeable service. Everything we ate (and we ate A LOT that day) from the crab claws and great selection from the raw bar, to the scallops and whole lobster we ordered as entrees, to the desserts and amazing cheese plate, were absolutely delicious!
Waiting 30 minutes for a table is not preferred IMO, even if it is for 8pm on Friday, when I had a reservation. Fire alarm went off during meal (waiter said this was the second time that evening). Good thing the food is outstanding or this would be a once and done place. Hopefully next time we go for seafood it has a better showing. Our waiter was very good and attended to our needs.
Slow service, over done fish, but oysters were very good
