Bangkok Happy Bowl Bistro and Bar + Poipu Rock 'n Roll Sushi
Food was fresh & delicious .. my family loves the quality of the sushi & sashimi
Food was tasty but shrimp portion on my green curry (for which I was charged $4 extra) was really, really tiny.
Appetizers came after main corses and price was a bit salty in comparison to other Thai restaurants in Hawaii.
Food presentation was amazing but the food itself was nasty, the chicken tasted bloody and it cost way too much for what it was worth
The tempura shrimp in the tempura shrimp roll was far from fresh. There was no crunch to the tempura coating and the shrimp was dried out and chewy. The Spivey dish was bland, flavorless , and without even a touch of spiciness. The waiter never returned to our table so I could comment. When someone came by the table and I commented on the poor quality of the food, their response was “I’m not your waiter”. I would not recommend this restaurant. There are several great places in the island that care about the quality of the food and the happiness of their customers
Food comes out when it is ready so expect as a guy to wait a while should females in your party order something different since there might be a 20 min difference between orders. It’s a cute strip center place which has live entertainment I believe provided by family members who own this place. Food was nothing special and rice in poke bowl was clumpy. Sushi was good but avoid tuna poke bowl and cashew chicken was tough.
We have eaten here several times. The food is good but not stellar and though we enjoy the music and dancers, the volume can be a bit detrimental to conversation. But, the menu offers great variety and the service is terrific-(Judy is the greatest!) It’s a fun, casual spot.
We enjoyed the food and the service so much we came back for a second time in our one week visit to the island. Mahalo!
I preferred not to leave negative review with too much detail but overall, service and food quality
I would not go back there again. Sorry!
Very pleasant staff. Efficient & friendly. We had Sushi & thought it was quite good. Have been here before & will go back
Food was great, live music was fun, and our server was funny, gracious and made the whole experience fabulous.
Enjoyed Happy Hour, which ends at 5:30.
We have been before but typically order Japanese, this time we ordered Thai, the service was great, the owner or manager even check with all the tables. We had Claudia, she is such a bubbly friendly server who we knew from Dukes. The food was tasty and hot, we each had a bowl of thai soup and shared a Pad Thai and a Chicken Rice Bowl, all were tasty. We felt the prices were a little high, either that or serving sizes was small for price we paid. However we are in Poipu, we would definitely go again.
I had ordered the pad thai with tofu but received it with chicken instead. I said it was fine, since I eat chicken, no need to return the dish. A short while later, the wait person brought out a dish of deep-fried tofu to add to my dish. It was unnecessary, but glad to see they wanted to be sure I was totally satisifed with their service. Food was delicious; we plan to return on our next visit to Kaui.
Great place a must do food was over the yop
Great restaurant from start to finish. Antonio is the best at greeting you and what he recommends.
Mediocre at best! In all respects, mediocre describes the food, the service and the atmosphere. In addition, although the singer was talented, the volume was waaaay too loud. Wouldn’t go back.
The service was terrible, although a highchair was requested hours in advance they only had 2 in the entire resaurant. The live music prevented normal conversation. I can't find anything nice to say!
Service and timing of food from order to arriving at table can be a little slow. Servers seem to be spread out over the whole restaurant, not concentrated in one area. Food was okay and reasonably priced. Will likely go back for variety, just not at the top of our list.
They gave us the table we wanted.
The sushi was okay. I wasn’t that impressed with the roll I got. Our waitress was nice when we saw her. The “bar back” woman who worked there was really nice. It was the only sushi place we knew of so that is why we went there. Not sure if we will be back.
Food was great but the whole place was horribly mismanaged. We went here for our anniversary, had a reservation, but still had to wait 15 minutes for the hostess even to greet us or check us in. Our server was clearly working very hard, but she was responsible for too many tables. We waited another 15-20 minutes for our order to be taken, then 15-20 minutes later my meal actually arrived -- but my husband's didn't until more than 20 minutes after that. I had eaten and plate was cleared for at least 10 minutes before his came out. Luckily my husband is awesome and didn't mind me eating my hot food while it was hot. It would have been nice to actually eat together, at the time we planned and reserved, for our special date. It was simply terrible all the way around, except for the food and the one server who was clearly working so hard. Please train your hostesses, fohod runners, and hire more servers!
Food was good but it took a while for us to get seated at our reserved table (albeit during the busy week around New Years.
Had a reservation and tnen waited forever while the lady up front ignored all of us with reservations. Gave up and went somewhere else. Will not waste my time again.
We had excellent service from Claudia. The food was great as well. We ordered sushi and various curry dishes. Be prepared for the very loud drum band at 6 p.m. at the entrance. They were fantastic but you can’t visit during their performance.
We didn’t have high hopes as we expected a quick dinner, but at least figured “How bad could pad Thai be?! Sadly, we were mistaken. The food wasn’t good, service was poor, and when they delivered a dish to us after we already paid and were standing to leave...welp, that pretty much summed up our experience. We did enjoy the live music, and the waitress tried hard on what seemed to be a particularly busy night. But there’s nothing she could’ve done about the poor food taste. If you do eat here, we recommend the shrimp tempura, which included 2 small shrimp and mostly veggies. Aloha.
Delicious variety. Sushi great, Thai food delicious. Disorganized staff. Didn't want our open table conf # and reported we no-showed. Need some help with communication.
We had Tony as our waiter. We had a large group and he was awesome! The food came out timely and was really delicious. The special roll with pineapple and tempura shrimp was everyone’s favorite.
The entertainer was a terrible singer plus too loud. We could not wait to eat and leave.
Everyone was so very friendly! They kept our table clean and the food coming. Everyone working was so friendly and always smiling!
The hostess did her best but didn’t seem really happy to be working. The waitress on the other hand was GREAT. I will return based on her service alone!
Been here before and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, this time was different. My party had several dishes that included chicken and/or fried tofu and these were so over cooked to being tough...probably pre cooked earlier than added to various dishes as needed...bad move...Ordered the egg rolls and there was almost no filling. The sushi was ok. The surprise was the $4.95 charge for a plain black tea ice tea...really. Very disappointed with the food....server was good but the live music made it very difficult to have a conversation and we were at a table for four...However...I must say the female vocalist was very good. What happen to this place.
We have requested to be seated at the sushi bar prior to our visit via Opentable. But there were no space for seating there since there was a large table for a group set up in front of it and our server did not care to accommodate us at the bar. So we were seated at table and ordered beer ($3.50) and rolls off Happy Hour menu. Sad to say but Sushi-rolls were not memorable. We had their Thai food to go before and we remember that was good.
Great music and tasty food. I’d definitely return. The waitress obviously wanted to move us out fast as it was a busy night but that didn’t really ruin our evening.
Good food. Good Service. Be careful of Spicy because it is exactly what you order. I went hot on some soup and it was exactly how I ordered it. Good place to go for some Thai food. Loved it.
Great meal. Got to see local music performed right on site.
Food was very expensive for what was received.
We ate dinner there during live music. The music was great and the food was delicious. The portions were large so we had leftovers.
Food was not very good (also had a piece of hair in my sashimi) and service, while friendly was slow and confused
Great variety of food combined with great service and good music. We enjoyed ourselves.
