Located in Chicago's Ravenswood neighborhood, Band of Bohemia strives to offer a pairings-based experience, beginning with our rotating collection of culinary-inspired session ales brewed in-house. Food is very good. Staff is great. Cool space. Wine menu very limited and eclectic. Portions were small for what they were charging. Wouldn’t run back there. But it’s worth trying at least once. Just expect limited portions for what you are paying.
Super cool atmosphere, great food and amazing service!
This was our first time here and we had high expectations it being a Michelin Star rated establishment. It lived up to our expectations! Great atmosphere, food and the service was top notch. We will definitely be back next time we are in Chicago.
Great service. Great brew. Would love to try the pairings next time. Hope to be back soon
Food was exceptional! I'd not hesitate to recommend this for any occasion! WOW!.......just, WOW!!
our waitress was very helpful and friendly. We liked the eggplant dish and our favorite dish was the gnocchi. The char was ok.
THIS PLACE BLEW MY MIND. The food was something else- every bite was phenomenal on the tasting menu. I have not had such a delicious overall meal with equally delightful beer pairings in YEARS. I would hands down recommend this place to everyone. Ambiance, music, food, cocktail, ALL THE THINGS. You can tell the employees even enjoy working there too. Thank you for my perfect meal.
Outstanding experience. The food was very good and interesting selections. The service was probably one of the best experiences we have ever had. Truly can not express how impressed we were. The room is fabulous. Can't wait to go back. Run, don't walk, to this restaurant
Amazing food and drinks with attentive service. Ambience strikes the right balance between laid-back and sophisticated. Great date spot but also would recommend for a large group!
The portions were small for their price. The beet salad was wonderful! Unfortunate that there are no vegan options. Drinks were great and so was the survice!
The best old fashioned son the planet and the eggplant flatbread dish is sublime. We are so lucky to live near this gem!
The appetizer and my wife's meal was good nothing exceptional. I had a chicken dish. The plate, when served, looked tired and preprepared. The roulade of chicken was fleshy , deep pink to almost her. It accompanied an undercook but consumable chicken breast. When I comment, the waiter checked with "chief",
and came back and insisted that the chicken could not possible be under cooked as it was cook to a specified temperature. The cause was not that the undercooked chicken was in fact undercooked but rathert the color was caused by the salt used in preparation. Presumably the subtext was that I was simply confused in thinking the flesy meat on the table in front of me was in fact underprepared. Please-My opinion -If this restaurant wants to continue to present itself as a high quality dining experienc it has a great deal of work to do.
Band of Bohemia was a perfect special occasion restaurant. It was relaxed but classy, and the food was amazing (we had the tasting menu with beer pairings). Foodies and craft beer and cocktail lovers will enjoy the variety. Plus the service was friendly and attentive without being annoying.
Food, cocktails, and beer were all very good. Everything was presented beautifully, including dessert (don’t skip it!). The server was a tad inflexible; I certainly appreciate hearing an opinion but then feel I should be able to make a decision even if it disagrees with the server’s recommendation.
Fantastic food in an overall very relaxed atmosphere. Beer pairings were spot on especially if you prefer ales. Service was excellent with a knowledgeable staff
Come for the ambiance and the service (both are outstanding). The food is great but maybe not great for the price. Beer pairs well with the food but doesn't stand on its own. Definitely worth a visit.
Every food item we had was amazing. Chef Ian & Chef George are truly outstanding! The staff was superior & our experience could not have been better. Can’t wait to go back!!
Really incredible service and food was spectacular!!great cocktails too. Love music just added to the great atmosphere! Will be back!
We were looking forward to Band of Bohemia as they touted first Michelin star for a brew pub. We both thoroughly enjoy craft beer but none of the brews were exciting; tried them all and would describe them as bland. The food descriptions were very creative; however there was nothing that tasted great. We also felt rushed; would complete one course and immediately were served the next course. The lamb saddle was extremely tough. We loved the atmosphere and wanted to love BofB, but were woefully disappointed and sadly won’t return.
The food was beautifully displayed and very flavorful. We had great beers, starters and small plates and each dish was very different from each other and very well prepared. The atmosphere was festive and quiet enough to have a good conversation. Although definitely not cheap, we will definitely go back.
It was truly amazing, and a great value for what we got with the tasting menu!
Interesting and superbly well done food, very attentive service and a relaxing atmosphere made this an outstanding experience. We have been to Band of Bohemia for brunch and dinner and will be back very soon.
Delicious food! My friend has dietary restrictions and they were very flexible. The interior is so cute and the meal was great. I will be back!
Wow. Started out great but quickly took a nose dive. Headed from the ‘burbs for a day in the city to celebrate a birthday. Gave ourselves an hour but called as soon as we hit traffic to ask if they could seat us 15 min late. Hostess was great and says no problem. We arrive with two kids and are seated immediately and the hostess brings games to the table for the kids. We get drinks soon after. 5 stars.
Server disappears. When she finally makes it back I ask a few questions regarding my 6 year old’s picky eating...there’s crepes on the menu. Could he get a plain one? She leaves. Finally comes back. Nope. Can you just bring him some bread? We don’t do that (I see loaves of bread in the kitchen...). Fine just bring a biscuit. And we wait. We finish our cocktails, juice and water. We wait. We waited over an hour before any food was served. Still no more drinks. I get that we were late (but I called) and I made special (although not egregious!) requests which they could not even accommodate. But bad service, especially at a Michelin Star restaurant, is completely unacceptable.
We were really excited to try this restaurant because it had such great reviews, but the food was sub par. We went off the servers recommendations since it was our first time, but what we had lacked flavor and 2 of the 4 dishes had sauces which tasted like mayonnaise. The atmosphere is great, the drinks were good, the service was ok, the food left something to be desired, and overall it is not worth the cost.
We ate at the chef’s counter and were absolutely captivated by the artistry at work in the kitchen at Band of Bohemia. All the wait staff was incredibly knowledgeable , friendly and -bonus- easy on the eyes! Oh yeah- and the food was delicious. We were especially in love with the surprise dessert courses sent our way from the pastry chefs that we bantered with throughout the evening.
Our meal and experience was unforgettable!
The food was delicious and memorable. It wasn't like anything I'd ever had. The service was also impeccable and our waitress was very knowledgeable. I will definitely come here again!
Three of the four things we ordered were delicious, but everything was overpriced. Our waitress recommended we order 4 or 5 things to feed us. The entrees were about the same size as the "small dishes," which made me feel like I should have just ordered more small dishes. Entrees were more expensive. Our waitress kept recommending the Raven Ale, which tasted like a cheap beer with a tiny bit of hops. My date got the Japanese whisky cocktail, which tasted like a whisky soda. Ended up being a $150 meal - two plates and one drink apiece.
We visit Chicago often, but still debated making the drive northwest of our normal neighborhood visits to Band of Bohemia. We're certainly glad we did. Excellent food, knowledgable and friendly servers, and an overall chill vibe made Band of Bohemia something we will add to our favorite places to eat in Chicago. Honestly, I was glad we skipped the beer pairings and asked about wine -- interesting and lively choices, and an eager staff ready to pair with our food selections. And don't skip the coffee/tea list with dessert - exceptional! Can't wait to go back - we'd even just pop in to the bar if we didn't have reservations. Spots for 2 (or even slightly larger groups) were definitely available after 8pm if you don't mind bar seating.
Unbelievable! Can't believe I had been here until now. The service was incredible. Our server had seemingly every bit of info in her brain about the food, the ingredients, the cocktails, the beers, the wines. She was amazing. We decided to put together our own tasting menu and they were so generous with drink pairings - they basically divided every drink option in two so we could both taste. The Eggs on Eggs? Creamiest, most flavorful omelet I've ever encountered with a generous portion of caviar. The Carro Lasagna. Amazing. I'll be back for that. And the suckling pig was amazing, especially with a cocktail that had a tropical flair - took you straight to a pig roast on a Caribbean beach. I can't wait to return.
I really enjoyed my experience at Band of Bohemia. The beer was very tasty. The Thai saison was my favorite. We got the tasting menu with beer pairing - a great culinary experience. I definitely recommend.
Oustanding. A most elegant, gracious, delicious experience. Definitely a return spot.
Nice spot for a dinner date or catching up with friends for drinks. Interesting decor and the food was great. Staff members were knowledgeable of the menu but not as warm as I'd like. Didn't think the music matched the vibe of the establishment.
Loved our brunch here. Had two cocktails, the salmon and avocado toast starters, and chicken biscuit sandwiches. The cocktails and starters were amazing; the chicken biscuit sandwiches were very good, if dry. Would happily dine here again in any case.
What an incredibly cool atmosphere--people of all ages from all walks of life. The service was outstanding--we were never left unattended but also not bothered by being inundated by service people. The food was so creative with so many different flavors in each dish that somehow worked so well together. Finally, the beer (and we are not even crazy beer drinkers at all) was delicious!! Again, an array of flavors in each sip.
The food was outstanding. The service was outstanding. We inadvertently got delayed in sitting due to our choice of a quieter booth and the staff couldn't have been nicer. So very accommodating to include a free round of appetizers (which were amazing). We highly recommend this restaurant. Do be aware the restaurant is loud.
Excellent food, drinks and service.
Awesome, personable service and overall experience. The waitstaff know the ins and outs of the menu, the best food and drink pairings, and ultimately how it’s best to order to ensure a smooth transition between the mouthwatering courses and ensure everyone leaves satisfied. LOVED and will definitely be going back.
Open kitchen concept is awesome and when the food comes to your table, it is described so you know how to navigate your plate. Incredibly satisfying food and wide range of flavors to choose from. Can’t go wrong here
Fabulous experience. Topnotch food and service. Love this place. You cannot go wrong choosing this gem.
