Bambu is a family run restaurant serving authentic Vietnamese food. Tucked away in the heart of the Hythe in Colchester, you will find a place like no other. Through the hand crafting of our design by the owner, the unique rustic interior reflects the humble way of living in Vietnam and his childhood memories.
Our menu offers an array of fresh tasting culinary from scrumptious small eats and salads, to heart-warming bowls of “Pho" as well as the delightful true flavours street food.
With our captivating outdoor dining terrace that overlooks the River Colne, it is no wonder that we are often describe as "a hidden gem" to our many of our diners.

We had an awesome experience to celebrate my father’s birthday. I don’t know why but this recent visit was only my second. I certainly need to make up for all that missed time and visit Bambu more frequently. Lovely staff, lovely ambience and incredible incredible food. Can’t recommend it more !! Thank you Bambu

Lovely food with a really nice atmosphere and the staff were lovely. I couldn’t eat everything on my plate so they packaged it up so i could take it home and eat it later.

A lovely restaurant with dining areas both inside and outside. The staff were friendly and we had quick service. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals which were good value for money and tasty. We will definitely be returning and would recommend to anyone who enjoys Vietnamese food.

First visit to this restaurant, food was amazing taste, service was very quick for our liking, we just finished our starters and our mains was brought to us, then when mains finished our glasses were taken, we felt like we was a bit rushed and not able to sit after the meal and chat to have another drink. The noise level was quite high. I would go again but when I could sit outside for less noise, and maybe a lunch.

Visited this restaurant on a few good recommendations from friends and I was not disappointed. Unsure of the menu and the waitress was kind enough to go through it. The food was amazing and arrived in no time. Authentic feel and I can’t wait for the summer so we can eat I. The outdoor area over looking the river. A very very nice evening
