I like that they are concerned with using sustainable fish.
The signature rolls we tried were very good.
Our server was pleasant and attentive.
Always excellent food and service. A place to enjoy excellent sushi, but noise level is very high.
My husband and I went to Bamboo Sushi with 5 family members visiting from Nashville. The food was great, but the ambiance was a nightmare: incredibly bad acoustics. The background music was an annoyance rather than a compliment to the meal; all that could be discerned was a repetitious vocal boom. It didn't match the attractive, authentic-looking decor.
We had just come from a boat ride on the Willamette and wanted to tidy up a bit and comb our hair in the restroom - a disappointing endeavor; for starters, there was a line of 5 ahead of us, waiting for only two restrooms which were almost totally dark. It would have been inconsiderate to take the time to comb our hair if we could have seen our reflection out of consideration for those who were waiting.
Because of the sound level in the restaurant, conversation was impossible. It was a really bad choice for us, and my husband and I, who live in Portland, will not go back.
Always have great service and the food is amazing!
Sat outside. Incredible experience and food
Stellar as usual!
Cramped quarters getting to our table and a very boisterous group preventing comfortable conversation were our only complaints. Food and service spectacular as always.
The food was delicious! And the wait staff was friendly and efficient. I was happy that we had made a reservation so that we didn't have to wait.
We have been to Bamboo several times and the service has been great. NOT so this time. Sushi took almost 30 minutes to get the first of it. Rest of our order followed very slowly. When we ordered more we again waited 15 minutes and when we asked we were told a “big to go order came in right before ours “ we were entertaining out of town guests. So sad
A busy restaurant with very good sushi and good veggie options but heavy on the frying preparation.
We sat for quite a while and did not feel at all hurried.
We celebrated my daughter's 30th birthday at Bamboo Sushi. As this was my first visit, I was not aware of how the sitting would work... and as usual, there were many who did not RSVP. They were able to sit 13 of us together, and provided 2 tables for overflow. Everyone had a fabulous time! It was very laid back, and the food flowed in. The wait staff were AMAZING!!! I cannot give them enough stars. We were literally playing musical seating as we socialized with the other two tables, yet everything plate showed up exactly where it should. And the gluten free options were plenty! I'm looking forward to my next visit!
I went here for my birthday and the food was amazing, but the servers were also very personable and kind.
We have eaten at Bamboo Sushi locations many times over the years. The food and service is consistently excellent. I also appreciate their environmental awareness.
Great food quality and service. Fun ambiance but a bit loud. A little pricey but some of the best sushi in the area and sustainable as well. We are repeat customers for many reasons.
The server was very nice & accommodating. The quality of the sushi however has gone downhill I’m afraid.... used to love this place now I’m not in any hurry to go back. They were very busy as usual but that doesn’t excuse the lack of quality in the food. Sorry Bamboo...
Best sushi I've ever had! Try the Kimono rolls - they are to die for.
Excellent sushi. Awesome food. Always consistent.
Best Sushi I've had! Wonderful surprise at the end with a carmelized whiskey crime dessert for my birthday. Great cocktails! All around lovely!!!
Fathers Day dinner with the family.
The sushi bar is much bigger at this location than the SW location. Bamboo has phenomenal sushi and the service is always excellent
Prices have gone up and menu has changed slightly but the food is still delicious! Some of the rolls take longer to arrive than others.
Experience great for a couple or small group, but for a table of 7, we found it chaotic (& the noise level didn’t help)
We had 5 people in our party and did not order a lot of sushi. Maybe 4 rolls and 4 avacado rolls.
It took forever to get our food and although in the end they took our appetizers off our bill, since we were all very hungry, it wasn't a pleasant experience. That being said, it was our first of many that was like this. Don't worry, we will come back! Food always exceeds our expectations ;)
Expensive, but tasty!
Long lines. Reserve ahead.
Great wait staff.
Kitchen efficiency outweighs common sense when delivering the meal. Got starters with the main course. Comment from staff: “well that’s just how we do things here.” I didn’t want to eat my starter with my burger. And, that was after 50 min wait for food! Just not top notch, and a bit pompous, seemed amateur.
Best sushi in Portland. Or maybe the world.
We always sit at the bar and will let the bar tender order for us. The cocktails are great. The food is pretty consistently amazing.
Very nice ambiance, good service and the food is delicious!
Fantastic as usual. Did omakase with Than, very creative and delicious. We go a few times a month and it’s the best sushi around.
The sushi is excellent, as are the drinks. The only downside is how dim they keep the lights.
spot on; such a great menu selection and the staff is par excellence...
Best sushi I’ve ever had.
Amazing high quality sushi. Friendly service from all staff.
This place has gone way downhill. Used to be awesome but the food was awful and the service was worse. Took 20 minutes to get a drink. Highly recommend staying away.
We had made reservations in advance and arrived promptly at 5:30 hoping to sit in the front room with natural light, next to the open windows (it was a beautiful day!), they told us we couldn't sit there despite the empty tables. We were disappointed to have to sit in the back where it's super dark. Next time I will be sure to indicate that we want the FRONT room.
Bradley helped us out and did an amazing job. Will be back!!!
Bamboo Sushi on NW 23rd is very dark if you sit in the back. It was really hard for me to read the menu without having to use the light on my phone. If you sit at the sushi bar it looked lighter.
The chef's tasting Omakase was delicious. Lots of food for a great value. I love that they ask your your preferences and will cater to your likings or if there are any ingredients you dont like, they are very flexible.
We Made the reservation for my birthday and was sad they didn’t mention my birthday at all. Sad the tempura avocado is gone, but food is always great.
