   The best food experience we had in NY. But be prepare ... the place is noisy! In a way, it suits this place to be busy.

   The restaurants was recommended by a friend, for a birthday. Service and food very good, the waiter was very knowledge about the food and wine, would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are visiting NY.

   I've been here for lunch before, which was great. This was for a breakfast meeting. The food was good but came out suspiciously quickly and wasn't hot enough, so it seemed pre-prepped. Taste was good, but at least breakfast isn't made to order, which was kind of disappointing. Also they need non-tabasco hot sauce.

   The food is excellent and holds up to its reputation. Sadly our waiter was less than attentive, forgetting our wine which was ordered before we ordered appetizers. We reminded him we were missing it after our dinner was served. He also needed to be reminded that we still wanted to order dinner long after our appetizers arrived and more. He seemed more interested in his other tables. I’m sure it’s not always this way at Balthazar, but being a waiter there must be a really desirable position for someone in the restaurant industry so I was really surprised by his lack of attention.

   Don't be mislead by the web site. This is not a charming Village cafe. Balthazar is quintessential NYC - crowded, noisy, and overpriced. You'll leave with indigestion even though the food is good. Not a place where locals congregate. Strictly for the bridge-and-tunnel crowd, and tourists.

   It's not as great as you think it will be. Sort of phony and really just a draw for tourists.

    Have been coming here for over 15 years and they never disappoint! Love everything - especially the steak frites with butter. The service is top shelf and the house wine is perfect! Love!
