Baltaire Ratings and Reviews
For the most part, we loved our dinner. The service was fantastic. The steaks were really delicious (we had the horseradish butter -- yum!). The only disappointment was the Dover sole. The fish was not seasoned, and the lemon butter sauce was very thin and had no seasoning also. Stick with the steaks!! The butterscotch pudding was particularly great for dessert.
Very upscale in fashionable Brentwood. For a special occasion it was nice restaurant however it was very loud and many wait staff running around but had to ask several times for water throughout our meal. The waiter didn’t come back to see how the dinner was until we were almost done. We asked for several sauces but had to ask what happened to one it wasn’t brought out. Then I told my waiter I was dairy free and our French fries came out covered in cheese. I sent them back and our waiter never even knew until he came over long after the new ones came out.
The food was good but pricey....
One of the most beautiful and well laid out restaurants. Our meal was absolutely spectacular. The food is just amazing. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. The truffle risotto was out of this world. It is a pricey meal. We decided to get shaved truffles on some of our items and it threw our bill out of whack. But it was still worth it. Our server was amazing too. And I️ cant forget to tell you about the cheese cart. That was our dessert. Go - run as fast as you can and enjoy every bite.
Baltaire is a very lively place. All types of people were there on a Friday night.... A family with kids, couples on dates, bros being bros, and girls out for the night. If you're looking for a quiet place - this may not be for you...or maybe the patio is quieter than the main dining room. The menu is definitely pricey. The food was just okay...I definitely expected more *wow* for the price, but it was a solid meal. Ryan, the waiter, while lively and attentive - took forever in between placing order and following up. There was a large party in a private room that he was also servicing, but otherwise Ryan was great.
My go to restaurant for a special lunch.
The food is lovely, the staff is lovely, the place is beautiful.
Unfortunately, we do not go for dinner because of the noise level. The bar scene must be a lot of fun because it's very busy. But for dinner with friends, it is absolutely impossible to have a conversation.
Nice round table as asked on Open Table when I made the reservation. Greek salad made at the table. basically a lot of lettuce, 2 halves of a cherry tomato, some sprinkled feta cheese on top and a few olives...with way too much dressing. No offer of fresh pepper. Bland taste.
Nice gesture...pana cotta offered for Birthday.
Overall good, but not great.
Baltair is in the tradition of the great East Coast and Mid-West steak houses. For me, one of the tests to qualify is the size and freshness of the shrimp in the shrimp cocktail. These were billed as jumbo - they were actually colossal. Huge. Perfect. The other tests were also passed with flying colors - great steaks, great seafood, all prepared to perfection.
We've dined at Baltaire on numerous occasions and have always had great food with friendly service. Unfortunately, on our last visit this was not the case. The evening started out well, but then went south. My friend ordered an appetizer that did not show up until the main course and the server spilled a glass of water on my son towards the end of our meal. Both of these mishaps received barely an apology from the server. She did not give our guest the option to cancel his appetizer, nor did she offer to comp it. As for my son she wiped the water from the table and said she'd bring him a napkin, but not much of an apology. Then to cap the evening off we got the bill which included a 20% tip since we were a party of 8. Now normally we would tip 20%, but the service was mediocre at best and we got two bottles of wine which only added additional $$$ to her tip. We regularly enjoy dining at Baltaire and will return, but the evening did leave us questioning how often.
The restaurant has a nice appearance inside but it was very noisy. Music form the bar was easily heard in the dining area.
Service started out great but declined as the night wore on. They became busy and there were not enough servers to get the food out. The kitchen became backed up. We waited a long time for food. Some was undercooked and had to be sent back. Main courses were all great when they finally arrived.
Skip the deserts. They were all average or worse and expensive.
My wife liked ti. I didn't. I had the short ribs and they tendered all the taste out of the beef. French onion soup lacked body needed more cheese and croutons. Wife liked the pork chop. She had the Tuna poke apatizer and liked it/
My friend and I both ordered our steak medium and it came out rare. The steak had a special sauce on it and when it returned from being heated, to make it medium rare, it was not plated correctly and did not have the special sauce anymore. For the price you pay for steak at Baltaire, the sauce should be replaced and the plate should look nice. I've eaten here a few times and this is not the customer service I expect at such a high end restaurant. Attention to detail please.
The ambiance is lovely but the food and service have gone downhill and the prices are outrageous: $45 for corkage is ridiculous. Our appetizer was delivered in 2-3 minutes-- too fast. One of our 2 salads was prepared wrong and it took a while to flag the waiter and get it replaced. Then the replacement salad showed up on the bill as an extra salad that we had to point out to the waiter to have it removed. The lobster tail at $108 for the smallest is not even shown on the menu as an entree but rather in fine print as a possible addition to the steak dishes. We actually had to ask the waiter if they no longer carried lobster tail. We ordered it and then it showed up undercooked. Dinner for the two of us with 1 cocktail each and a bottle of wine that we brought with us was $430, including the tip.
