Steaks were good but sides were just ok.
Sea bass was a bit rubbery.
I realize that this is not a health food restaurant but I felt that sides were too rich and overly salted.
One of our drinks was returned and the waiter forgot to take it off the bill.
This mistake was promptly and politely removed by our pleasant waiter, however it is a reminder that it is important to always check your bill.
The steaks were delicious. Ambiance lively. And upscale trendy decor. Good for special occasions.
Been many times we love the Place. Has been great every time!!!!
Good menu with specialty in steaks. Balanced with soups, salads, seafood. Good service and ambience. Only problem is that the noise level is too high with the live entertainment but it can be dealt with by sitting in the adjacent eating area.
One of the best steakhouses in LA
Baltaire is a stunning yet comfortable restaurant, both indoors and outdoors. Service is gracious, superb. My table-side Greek salad was prepared exactly to my specifications— the staff wants the diners to fully enjoy their meals. A friend’s birthday was honored with a flourish and unbelievable Butterscotch Pot-de-Creme.
Service was a little inattentive. I wanted to get a glass of wine with the entree, but our guy disappeared for a while,
Food was great.
Food is great, but service is poor. For the price, you’d think the waitstaff would be even slightly attentive and personable. Nope. Loved the food, but there are plenty of more affordable restaurants with excellent food and service in LA.
Baltaire never disappoints. We come here often and have tried many things on the menu and everything is so delicious! The cocktails here are great and made with premium liquor. The wine list always has great variety. The live music on the weekends really creates an energetic atmosphere while the decor and seating always feels upscale and romantic. This was our first wedding anniversary and we had the grilled artickotes, steak tartare (best I’ve ever had), Caesar salad, petite filet, bone in ribeye, fries (fresh and hand cut), and a white asparagus special that was paired with hazelnuts and black truffles. Everything was top notch and perfectly executed. For dessert they brought us the butterscotch budino and although we were very full we could not stop eating it! Our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable. I always recommend this place to everyone I meet! We will come here again and again!
The dining room is beautiful but noisy. Our steak was very good, all other dishes mediocre and overpriced. Service OK at best. There are many restaurants offering far better service and food in the immediate vicinity, so we don't plan on going back.
The chairs were super comfy...tables a little too close together. Food was delicious and our waitress was very attentive. It was a little loud, but not terrible. Very strange to be sitting in a spot that was once The Cheesecake Factory! The waitress sent dessert for our daughter as she was celebrating a milestone (seizure free for 9 years since brain surgery) we were there with her surgeon! Very sweet of her.
The lamb chops were absolutely wonderful, tender, and delicious. I will go back just for the lamb chops. The croissant bread pudding was excellent and I will always order the bread pudding as well when I return. The night manager was considerate, funny and an excellent manager. My friends also enjoyed their meals.
Overall, I love the food, ambiance and service. I was really disappointed in the Easter brunch buffet for the price. Good was a bit dry.
Love this restaurant; it's beautiful for starters - sit "outside". The service is impeccable, the menu changes frequently (daily? don't know) and is always interesting and the food is delish.
I had the lobster Cobb for lunch and it was perfect. Prices are high but well worth it, I feel. It can get quite noisy in the evenings but lunch was pleasantly quiet. I'll go back again and again.
Lobster Cobb was delicious , the setting was lovely. It was surprisingly difficult to get our waiter’s attention when we needed him on two occasions.
not the best sunday brunch spot. very very limited options for food. i’ve been here for dinner and was satisfied however, i would never come back for lunch on a sunday. not worth the time.
Ate here for Sunday brunch and had the steak and eggs. While I wasn’t overly impressed with eggs, the steak was some of the best I’ve ever had (and I am not a novice connoisseur in that regard). Service was flawless, staff interactions were pleasant and polished without fail, and the manager was frequently visible and walking the floor throughout the course of our meal to monitor and ensure the quality of the guests’ dining experience. This was my second experience here, and I was even happier with it than the first. I will definitely return.
Service was horrible. Servers were probably overwhelmed by the level of business that night.
The manager recommended these "very large" oysters from France, so I ordered 6. When they came, two very large and the rest were the size of a quarter. I returned it.
The ladies' food arrived almost 5 minutes before the men's food and it was awkward as the ladies waited and their food got cold.
The music was so loud nobody could carry on a conversation comfortably. We had to learn to read lips.
I would never come again at night if the music is like that every night,
Food is excellent. Service can be spotty at times.
Booking was at 2:30 Pm we arrived 2:35 pm.They seated us (2:40 PM) and i was in a business phone call. After 2 minutes they pushed us (even that i was in the phone call) that we had 3 more minutes to order all because the kitchen was closing!!!!! Finally i had to be showing them my selection while in the phone call. It was my first time to the restaurant and i wanted to enjoy a nice quiet relaxing meal. It was just the opposite.
This was the start of a very unpleasant experience.
Since i was in the call the manager suggested some filet to my companion saying it was for 2, but when it arrived it was a tiny piece JUST for 1. He denied he suggested this one and blame my companion for selecting it. I had so express anger to make them offer “opening” the kitchen to prepre another same piece so we could had enough for both.
The first bottle of wine i selected from their menu was out of stock.
After we finished the enteees the waiter said goodbye and passed us to another one. Shift ended. We asked for dessert and myself whisky and then after some time they pushed us to free the table, since they where going to use it for dinner bookings. They offered to move us to the bar area to continue having our drinks. The manager moved us and left us in a couch in the bar area. After 5 minutes one girl came and told us “We could not sit there because it was reserved for an event”
When i explained the manager moved us there she just said “I need this space, is for an event”. I asked her to take us to another seat and she said yes, but when we stood up and walked to the other bar seating area she did not follow and left us on our own.
This was after a 3 hour meal for which we already ordered and paid , appetizers Brussels sprouts, cabbage, french fries, shrimp cocktail, artichokes, then 2 Filet mignon entrees, 1 bottle of red wine, 2 desserts , and myself 3 or 4 whiskys. Already paid most of the bill (we closed it after the second waiter also passed us into soneone else, so he ....
My favorite desert are the donuts and they are always out of it when you dine at night. Kinda a bummer. Hope that changes
Service is always spectacular
The food was amazing! Pricey but for a special event it’s worth it. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because when we got the bill we noticed there was a HUGE bar bill. 2 shots were $550! I felt the waiter should have said something when it was ordered, but he did not. That was as much as our dinner bill for 4 people!
We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere, and generally the service in the past, but on this occasion the manager on duty was condescending abrupt and not welcoming. Once we were seated we had a really nice time though server was clearly rushed but kind. We will try to again and hope that this was an anomaly but there are just too many restaurants where you feel like a valued customer to repeat this.
I thought the food was overpriced for the quality. Our server was great! We were celebrating a 90th birthday. The ambiance was nice, the restaurant was beautiful but it was quite loud.
Love this place. Great food. Great service. One of the most beautiful dining rooms in LA.
It's a good place but it's breathtakingly overpriced, especially with respect to the cocktails, wines and wines by the glass. There are better places in town with excellent food, ambience and service that aren't as overpriced for the beverages.
Great experience. Food was great, the interior is open, inviting, comfortable. I would recommend Baltaire to everybody.
Far too noisy for a comfortable conversation, even with the person sitting directly adjacent to me. My bone-in KC Cut ($65) was about 1/2" thin and while tasty, not very tender. My wife's fish was so dry, she didn't eat it. We should have sent both meals back if we weren't with a group of other people. I've had much better meals at Baltair; but, I don't think that I'll be going back soon. It is far too expensive a restaurant to be so mediocre and so loud.
We go to Baltaire often and we usually have a great experience. However, this time the service was subpar especially given the prices they charge. I hope this was just a fluke and not the new normal.
Delicious, hearty, imaginatively crafted food. The meats are deliciously grilled, and the sides are fantastic!!! The server was attentive, and when we had specific requests, they were met with helpful responsiveness. Just so delicious. The space is beautifully designed, with tasteful wood accents, and comfortable seating. There's a larger outer area and a modern sleek bar area. My brother came to visit and we had one of our best meals ever!
Very good and pretty consistent.
Bday dinner with girlfriemds
Excellent food and service. V noisy but they did accommodate us by turning the music down.
we both ordered the crab louis salad. It was a ball of iceburg lettuce with a little crab on top, some tomato slivers, a couple of hard boiled eggs on the side and a very strange fried onion ring that looked like a large greasy doughnut. The whole thing was strange and unsatisfying.
Traveling with another couple. Wanted a good steak. Ours were all overdone and cold when served Also, service was slow. Didn’t get bread until meal half way finished .
Fun Brentwood people watching! Definitely not a hipster spot. Excellent service! Pricey, but not shocking. The place was packed, but not uncomfortable.
Awesome steaks and great food overall. I would highly recommend this restaurant among the easily accessible fine dining places in LA
