Baltaire Ratings and Reviews
Got seated at a table in the wind next to the wall on the outside patio. It’s February, California gets cold believe it or not. Fortunately we were able to move to a slightly warmer table. The lobster bisque appetizer came out wrong so we asked for it to be changed which should have been a five minute ordeal but instead took 25 minutes. Waiters and other staff kept bumping our table which was irritating and to top off the annoyances, a manager decided to reprimand an employee very loudly and publicly right behind where we were sitting. We could hear their whole conversation. Overall the experience was fine but the aforementioned made things very irritating.
Food was delicious and decor fantastic. Really sumptuous. Our server was very sweet but not very good - at these prices, I'd like a server who really knows about the menu and has the specials memorized and can readily answer questions. We ordered table side salads and the salad prep server seemed quite put out when two of the orders were adjusted. The valet situation is absolutely terrible and even though I'm glad they have a valet, the drop-off system needs to be improved for safety and better communicated to the client. Plus, the valet was extremely rude when directing me for drop-off. I actually ended up NOT dropping off with the valet and using the lot next door - at almost $20, I won't be going there again.
Really nice spot. The hosts, bartenders, and servers are all professional and courteous. The ambiance is excellent with the crowd being mostly professionals. Some pretentiousness is expected but definitely not enough to be off-putting. The food was amazing. There were no fumbles with appetizers, main entrees or dessert. Definitely will be coming back!
Great Steaks!!! But the prices are just too high. I paid $66 for my steak and $30 for hash browns with a little bacon. For the steak, you can tell me how exclusive the ranch is and certainly the steak was amazingly good. Ok, so I pay the $66. But $30 for hash browns? That's just absurd. But there is no denying the quality of the food and the excellence of the wait staff.
Food is mediocre. Service was fine. They made error on easy order (and they were not busy enough to be an excuse) and while they attempted to make right, didn't really do so well at it. Be careful when you say what water you want. I asked for regular water and got charged $10 for a bottle of water....they did reverse the charge however.
Excellant food but sadly we had requested to be seated out on the beautiful patio as it was our anniversary & we made the ressie a month ahead but they seated us inside which is pretty loud especially with the live music. They said they could seat us outside if we waited 20 to 25 min. but as we had already waited 15 min. we took the table inside. Food & service once seated were amazing!
From valet, to dinner service to after dinner drinks at the bar, everything was amazing! The food was very good. The greek salad was good but not great and the portion was smaller than expected. The Dry Age steak was delicious and cooked perfectly on a super hot plate that kept it hot for the duration of dinner. The asparagus was grilled a little more for us and paired nicely with the broccolini and Mac and cheese. Mary Beth was our server and she really nailed it. Answered every question with no thought and made great recommendations. The Desserts we ordered were the butterscotch and peanut butter and both were mouth watering. I don’t even like sweets! Sasson on the bar after was very friendly and engaging. We stayed way longer than expected. This is going to be a place i now frequent.
Overpriced, service just ok and often had to flag down a busboy for requests, food over sauced and nothing amazing. Very loud. Patio seating a tad quieter but cold and chairs are incredibly uncomfortable. They did nothing to acknowledge my husband’s birthday despite the fact that I informed the hostess and manager ahead of time. Overall, not worth a $250 meal for two. Probably won’t return.
I love this resturant. The food was Devine. HOWEVER, it is critical you specify not to be seated in the indoor enclosed dining area. While our table appeared to be indoors. It was enclosed by only wooden sliding doors, essentially with the feel of outdoors. While they did have heat lamps it was not enough, nor did it shield the wind from blowing through the slats from the wood sliding doors. I was freezing as were my guests. Because I had not dined there before I was unaware of the seating and by the time we got there we could not be moved because of the size of the party. It was hard to truly enjoy on a cold night. And I was also uncomfortable because I knew my guests were cold. Just an FYI when making reservation in the winter months.
I had high expectations. I like the decor and the location and the service started off well, then went downhill. Not one round of servings came out at the same time. We were 4 people and both rounds came out as 3 dishes and the 4th one 5-8 minutes later. Doesn't sound long until you realize 3 people are being polite and not eating the dish in front of them as it gets cold while the fourth is embarrassed and saying "go ahead, don't worry, I'm sure mine will be right out."
The food was inconsistent. Nothing was spectacular, but 3 fails were: steak tartar was very, very salty, charred octopus wasn't charred but rather steamed and almost slimy, and the curried cauliflower had no curry flavor at all.
Through it all the poor waitress struggled to make things better, but soon even she lost hope.
Not what I expected from a place of this standing.
I like this restaurant and the food is very good. This past Sunday, however, we had a less than positive experience. I ordered a petite filet, medium temperature. When the filet arrived, I touched it and knew that it was rare -- cut it open and it was indeed rare. Our server took the steak back to the kitchen and when she returned it to me, it was medium rare. My issue is this -- if I could touch the steak and know that it was underdone -- so could the chef. Even more of an issue -- the server was attentive, but never apologized for the rare steak. It costs NOTHING to apologize (on behalf of the restaurant) for a poorly cooked steak, and it always makes me feel better when the server is gracious. One last thing, the menu offers whipped sweet potatoes as a side dish. I ordered them, but when they arrived they were not sweet potatoes -- they were yams. In a restaurant this quality, the chef should know the difference between a sweet potato and a yam. I told our server that the dish was not made with sweet potatoes but yams, she didn't seem very interested, did not apologize and charged us for the dish anyway. We were four people who all had four courses and wine -- the restaurant could have comped the one side as no one touched it.
Super loud had to scream to have a conversation at our table. Food was super late getting out of the kitchen. 6:30 reservation we ate at 8:37. All of the food was bleh. Sea bass was over cooked, filet tasting was room temp (how can you be a steak house and serve cold steak), short rib was terrible the farro and slaw combo killed every bit of comfort food. The decor was great but too loud and I wouldn’t go back for the food. Go down the street to Bandera. I am failing to see how this is a highly rated place in Brentwood.
Service was great. Table was ready on time and ambiance and crowd was solid. Drink are in point. I had a exceptional Old Fashioned. Server was attentive and food was fabulous. I tried the Filet tasting which came with three types of filets 12 total oz. . They were cooked to perfection and tasted exceptional. Solid experience.
Baltaire is great in all respects - food, drinks, atmosphere and table service. Service in the bar lounge area is slow; you often have to get up and track someone down in order to get anything. This is consistent over many visits. But we love it in every other way so just expect to be on your own in the lounge and you won’t be disappointed.
So, we came here for my husband's birthday and because he loves a good steak. I do not normally eat meat ans assumed I would order fish. Out of character, I ordered the short rib meal. To my amazement, it was absolutely delicious and this filled me with surprise! The music and ambience, as well as the oysters and persimmon/buratta salad made us very happy. We will be back, next time to dine in the garden. Oh, and I will probably venture out for meat again; it was worth it.
About last night. Perfect location for New Years goal discussion. Greek salad prepared table side was crisp and delicious. The Tomahawk did not disappoint - well seasoned, juicy, flavorful, melt in your mouth and buttery. Crispy Brussel sprouts and Mac & cheese are a must!
Phenomenal service and great recommendations. You must try Baltaire at least once!
