Welcome to Balmoral Restaurant. Grand Scottish Fare as you’ve never experienced before.
Lush, dark Scottish wood tones greet you upon entering Balmoral Restaurant. A deep-set coffered ceiling hides recessed lighting, designed to light your table elegantly, providing just the right mood. Scottish designs surround you, from the tartan carpet, to wrought iron fixtures, to the swords and shields of lore, to wall murals that evoke the placid Scottish countryside. At Balmoral, we bring the incomparable splendor of Scotland to you.
A Balmoral Twist
Deadwood Rye, simple syrup, orange and sarsaparilla bitters, orange twist and Amarena cherries. Amazing.
Musselburgh's Fish and Chips
Boneless filet of haddock. If you went to a 'Scottish chippy', this is what you would get: real chips and real fish, as it's cooked in Scotland. Succulent fish in our beer batter with mushy peas and our house-made tartar sauce. I eat this weekly, reminds me of home.
Roast Half Chicken
We have dined here quite a few times and the service and wait times for food were not at the normal standards. Food was good as usual but we waited about an hour from the time we placed our order till food was served. Also my wife ordered a brave heart drink that was $16 which is excessive and too highly priced.
I can’t believe it took us so long to try this restaurant. Everything, from the drinks, to the food, to the service was amazing. Best dinner I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to go back.
We had a wonderful meal - my new favorite!!
My husband and I had a fantastic anniversary dinner to celebrate 13 years of marriage. The staff was attentive and the food was delicious. We thought it was such a sweet touch that they had the bagpiper play a song for us and they also gave us a very sweet anniversary card. We both agree we will be going back to try more of there fantastic food.
Great experience! Excellent service. Very good food. Interesting drink menu. My lemondrop martini is a good indicator on how the food will be and it did not disappoint! I ordered the shrimp and my husband ordered the pheasant. The shrimp was good but I ended up swapping dishes with my husband and the pheasant was soo good! The decor, crystal glasses and atmosphere transport you to a different place and time. I enjoyed the experience and will definitely be returning.
THERE JUST AREN'T ENOUGH SUPERLATIVES. WE HAD THE SHRIMP-WATERMELON & THE MUSHROOM APPETIZERS. THEN THE COCK-A-LEEKIE & GREEN PEA SOUPS. FOR ENTREES, THE STILTON SIRLOIN & THE VENISON. I ADDED A SIDE OF ASPARAGUS TO THE POTATOES & VEGGIES INCLUDED. THE GRAND FINALE WAS STRAWBERRY MERINGUE DESSERT. PURE HEAVEN. I'VE READ A LOT OF THE PREVIOUS REVIEWS, AND I HONESTLY DON'T THINK THIS PLACE IS OVERPRICED. PRICEY YES. BUT THE QUALITY OF THE PRODUCT, AND THE AMAZING FLAVORS MAKE EVERY PENNY WORTHWHILE.
I MADE A LIST OF EVERYTHING I WANT TO TRY (18 ITEMS), AND I'M GOING TO GET THRU IT.
THE ONLY SUGGESTION I HAVE, IS TO HAVE AN APPETIZER COMBO PLATTER FOR THOSE OF US THAT JUST WANT A TASTE OF SOMETHING WE'RE NOT SURE WE'RE GOING TO LIKE.
AND GOSH DARN IT, THERE WAS NO PIPER AT THE DOOR !! (THAT'S OK. I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE CRIED ANYWAY.)
Great food! We love this place. We unfortunately weren’t aware of the prix fixe menu and had been so hoping to try the pheasant but what we did have was delicious and we can not wait to go back
As always, food was amazeballs.
The cullen skink soup and beef marrow bones - delish!
This time I had the lamb shank. My husband had the shepherd's pie (OMG it's good) and our guest ate the rabbit (super tasty).
But do yourself a favor and save room for dessert. Our favorites - Bannofee Pie, Millionnaire's Shortbread and Sticky Toffee Pudding.
Service, as always, impeccable and we love seeing and hearing the bagpiper when we arrive.
My adult son said it best. This is the first meal that after each bite I just want to savor it before taking the next bite. We were greeted by a charming and talented bagpiper player. We entered a beautiful room with lovely china. Everyone who worked there made you feel like an honored guest. The menu is filled with so many delicious choices you need to come hungry. You are going to want to try appetizers, soup, salad, entree, and dessert! They bring delicious bread to the table. Luckily there was no rushing so we could visit and enjoy the music in between courses. This is a pricy place but once you taste the food you realize the quality of the food and talent of the kitchen. I had lamb shanks with an amazing sauce, one member had duck and another chicken. We were all very happy with our choices.
Food and service were excellent. I
Would highly recommend
We love this restaurant. The food is amazing, the service is impeccable. We never feel rushed.
Our Christmas Eve dinner could not have been better! Lovely tables and really wonderful service. My husband's only negative comment after he ate his plateful of desserts was he wished they had a miniature chocolate cake on the plate!
First time eating there. Overall it was a good experience but overpriced in our view. Service was ok, nothing special for a place that is known for fine dining. Only two waitresses for a large number of tables which may explain some of the just average service. Would recommend and will go back but not rush back.
Very unique and delicious dining experience. Highly recommend!
It was our 51st Anniversary so we wanted a especially nice restaurant. This was it! From the moment we got there! When we were walking up to go in there was a guy playing the bag pipes. Inside we were seated right away. It was clean and decorated beautiful. Our service was excellent and food was fabulous! My only draw back was the noise was very loud. However it seems most restaurants are that way.
We both were loved it!
Excellent birthday dinner. Bag pipe welcome gave a unique beginning to experience. Waitress Anna was superior and was very attentive.
Incredible - everything from the food to the service was incredibly detailed and experiential. The Scottish bag pipe player is a nice touch. The Glasgow mushrooms - wow.
Love the place
We had a lovely evening at Balmoral. My beef Wellington was outstanding. The server was efficient and friendly; the mood quiet and relaxed. My Auld Smokey cocktail was a great surprise, a truly unique taste. Five stars!
I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve been to a better restaurant in the tri-city area. An incredible atmosphere with food and drinks to match. Our first time here, and we’re hooked. The entire time we were dining it felt like we were at a local Scottish supper club in the best way - there’s a sense of comfort and family with everyone in the room. The food is higher end but entirely worth the value. Everything was amazing!
The service was terrific. Owner was great telling us about the history of him opening restaurant. Food was fabulous.
This dinner was an amazing experience. From the bagpipe playing upon entrance to the dessert every part of our evening was magical. Thank you.
This is our 4th time at Balmoral. Expensive? Yes, but worth it! A hidden jewel for a gracious, outstanding dining experience. Will we go back? YES! My sister and brother-in-law in Pennsylvania went their with us the first time and can't wait to go back the next time they are in town visiting. Both my husband and son-in-law are good cooks so finding an excellent restaurant is often a real challenge. Balmoral Restaurant is up to the challenge. Last night there was a bagpiper there who played Happy Birthday for my husband and for two other patrons. He also played for the couple celebrating an anniversary. A joyful experience. A must is their Irish coffee! We are so glad some old neighbors of ours told us about this restaurant. You are never rushed there either, nor blasted by loud background music.
Another fantastic experience at Balmoral. We are biased as our family is from Scotland, but we always love a wee taste of home, and you can’t beat a Sunday Roast with some IRN BRU!
Loved being greeted by a bagpipe player! The Tables were set perfectly and beautiful. Our server was knowledgeable and so sweet. The food, delicious! Loved everything. We had the beef Wellington, lamb shank and the venison. Would recommend all. We will definitely be back!
Consistency excellent in terms of both a fabulous wait service!
Excellent food! Will definitely return!!
We had a wonderful experience at Balmoral. It was everything the reviews said it was. A unique experience, loved the bag pipe player and the wonderful selection of Bourbon on the menu. We also loved the extensive dining menu. A great place to celebrate a Birthday or an Anniversary. We will certainly return.
The food and drinks are always outstanding! As is the service. Love the piper who welcomes you.
Noise level disturbing to dining experience. Wait staff needs to not be so hurried when engaging with patrons.
I loved this experience! I had the Cullen skink, Beef Wellington, and millionaire shortbread. All tasted amazing. The bagpipes we fun and the decor was tasteful.
Absolutely loved our dinner at Balmoral. The food was excellent and the staff friendly, courteous, and professional.
Will definitely be returning!
This was absolutely wonderful while also being very extravagant The food was excellent, we had duck, venison and beef wellington and each was better than all the others. The piper piping us into the restaurant was a lovely touch. The smoky manhattan was delicious. It was a celebratory meal and I loved it, but it is pretty pricey!
This was our second visit to the wonderful Balmoral Restaurant. Loved the bagpiper, who greeted us with a tune. We shared the pork belly appetizer, which was generous and very tasty. The Hadrian Wall duck breast was beautifully presented and so tasty. The Pleasant Peasant Pheasant was also very good. The owner was welcoming and answered questions about the High Tea…happy to hear it’s returning in January. Our server was fantastic. So much to try on our next visit.
Possibly the best meal I’ve ever had. Only disappointment was that they were already out of their Turkey roast dinner and multiple deserts before our 5pm reservation - not the greatest planning for thanksgiving, but we were all game for trying other things instead. Pea soup was amazing. Salmon (honey chili and steamed) were both incredible. Campsie Glen chicken was cooked perfectly and had an amazing sauce. Millionaire shortbread was heavenly. Our family isn’t big on Brussels sprouts so could’ve passed on those but sides were otherwise perfectly cooked and tasty and served family style. Even my 6 year olds kids salmon was excellent. Will definitely be back. Definitely a special occasion place due to the prices, but worth every penny.
One of our favorite places. Wait time for food took longer than usual this time. Clearly the number of people there has increased which is good but hopefully the lengthy wait (1 hour 15 min from order time) is a one off. Otherwise food and service are excellent!!
