Ballast Point Brewing Company
Friday - Saturday: 11:00pm-12:00pm
Sunday: 10:00am – 9:00pm
This place was great. Our server Amber was knowledgeable and helpful. She got us in and out quickly because we had a tour scheduled after lunch. Food was delicious. So was the beer! Great ambiance, too. Loved this place! Would definitely go back!
Had to wait an extra 30+ mins to our reservation just to add 1 more person to our already table of 5. First round of drinks once seated took 20 mins to get there, and food another 30+ after the drinks arrived. Staff was friendly.
We go to Ballast Point frequently for dinner and have always had a great experience, so were very surprised when the hostess was so rude and condescending. We found out from the manager, later, that she is new. I'd say she has a lot to learn about just being competent and congenial. As always, the table service and the food were excellent and our server, Dana, turned around what started out as a disappointing evening.
Ballast Point has great beer as everyone knows. But, their food was good too. We sat on the patio which is really pleasant and less noisy. It was great for a business meeting.
First visit to BP it was a little confusing on the seating but overall everything was great!

Ballast is top notch when it comes to making beers. The restaurant does not receive the same high marks. If I were to visit again, I would eat before or only expect to eat fries or the other bar worthy appetizers. The service was horrible and the meal was cafe worthy. I ordered the braised short rib; received it cold and the mashed potatoes were definitely from the day before. The waitress removed the charge for my meal, but without an apology.
This was an amazing experience. It was a birthday celebration for my 6 year old daughter and 14 year old niece. The staff was very courteous, knowledgeable, and friendly. Just make your reservation and enjoy.
Server was awesome! He really went out of his way to answer questions and get everything to us very quickly. He was very attentive and came back often. Food was great and awesome beer choices (especially the Mixed Fermentation Saison!)
Ballast Point is a great place for beer and food. We had a great server, but the wait for our food was insanely long. Had a good time, but it seemed like they were understaffed in the kitchen for a Saturday night. We will definitely return, but on a slower evening. The tour was also a lot of fun.
This was a group of 9 co-workers. Of course the beer is great. Mostly bar food. There weren't very many vegetarian options. We had to flag down our server a few times but she was friendly and welcoming. It wasn't as noisy as I thought it would be.
Great food + beer selection. Ambiance is awesome and really nice inside/outside on the patio. Love this place!
I visited Ballast Point for a work dinner and, from the very beginning, the service was painfully slow. The receptionist refused to seat me until eight out of ten members of our party had arrived, despite that three-quarters of the dining room was empty. As it was Friday evening and people shuffled in slowly due to the traffic and sparse parking, this meant that I was not seated until 35 minutes after my reservation call time. Another 15 minutes passed until our server took our drinks order. While the rest of the party enjoyed selections from their vast beer menu, one coworker and I ordered a bottle of wine. The wine bottle arrived to the table already opened and the server dropped it off without pouring it into the glasses. (I’m guessing this is their brewery protocol?) By the time appetizers and our mains arrived (we thankfully skipped dessert), it was nearly ten o’clock before the bill arrived and I could leave.
While this is an excellent place to informally grab a beer from the bar and shoot the breeze for a while, it is not a place where you want to dine, and certainly not with coworkers ...unless you want to be tethered to them for three+ hours of good drinks, basic food, and mediocre service.
Great service. Lots of beer you will not find in your grocery store. interesting bar menu.
A little too noisy. The music could have been turned down a notch for the lunchtime crowd.
We had a small wedding celebration with our family and we just had terrible service. Our waiter took a while to take our drinks order and then another while to take our food order. There were 15 of us and the worst part was that he did not want to split the bill in any way. We wished we had gone elsewhere to celebrate. We did complain to the manager about the service and they did nothing about it. Then the waiter returns to the table very defensive, just a bad experience overall. The menu is very limited, expensive and not that good. Only 2 vegetarian options, tomato pizza and kale hominy salad... ordered both and not a fan. Very disappointed overall.
There were 8 of us and they had no trouble seating us. The food was great and our waitress was really nice and made excellent recommendations for beer.
I hadn’t seen my childhood friend in years. It was ice to get together with him, catch up while eating delicious food. Will return!!
Been there many many times mostly due to quality of food. But I feel like the quality of the food has slipped and that used to justify the higher prices.
Honestly the food was not that great also price was high for the quality
This was our second experience at this ballast point facility. Terrible service. Restaurant was pretty empty and the wait time to receive our beverages and food was way too long. Server was not on top of his game. Food was very mediocre. The ballast point restaurant in little Italy is much, much better.
Good food, during a World Cup soccer match, so a little loud, but understandable.
This is a beautiful restaurant. The patio is wonderful and is very dog and kid friendly. The restaurant is also kid friendly and has a nice kids menu. The beer and drink menu is impressive also. The food is another story. Items sound good, but taste terrible. The pretzel is too salty and does not work well with the pumpernickel. The ahi bowl sounds good, but needs a lot of improvement. Good service and friendly staff. Please improve you food menu.
We didn't like taste of guacamole: they put some strange spice there. Also, one of my husband's favorite IPA - jalapeno sculpin (if i am not mistaken), was missing, for which he was very much disappointed. The rest was very good and tasty.
We went on Fathers Day and they were slammed. We had a reservation and they seated us right on time. However when we got to our seats, the booth was too low for members of our group and they worked quickly to find an alternative table even though it took some work. Dinner was a little slow in arriving so they brought chips and guacamole while we waited. Food was great, fun play area for kids and good beer. Service was outstanding. Only down side was it was a bit loud inside. When they're that busy, maybe turn the music down a little. Overall though, great place!
Disappointing Father’s Day experience. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. It then took over an hour to get our food. During the wait, our server was told to clock out, and her replacement didn’t bother to check on us, we had to flag him down to ask what was taking so long. We were told the kitchen was understaffed and really backed up. Too bad the management didn’t plan for what I assume would be an obvious spike in business on Father’s Day, especially since a lot of people had reservations. When we did get our food, it came out in spurts and was lukewarm, ironically. They discounted the bill and the server apologized to us and everyone else in the same predicament, but the celebration was ruined and we left in a bad mood.
We were the first table to be sat. We were a 6 top. Our server finally came over 18 minutes after we were sat. She did not say Hi or introduce herself and was very dry. Did not engage with her Guest at all. Being the first people entering the restaurant as the doors were opened, we figured we would be served first. All the people who sat in the bar area were already drinking and having a good time while we were waiting to be greeted and get a glass of water and coffee. We sat at 10:00 and were finally served our brunch at 10:52 without explanation. The food was good in flavor but luke warm at best. No manager came over to greet and find out how our experience was gong. In any case, we just sucked it up. I’m sure the steps of service were not followed and there was no excuse for poor service as it was not busy at all. Not typically one to complain coming from 35 years in the industry but I just thought you should know. Granted, your busy all the time and this probably doesn’t make a dent but at least I got it off my chest.
We’ve been here many times and each time it progressively gets worse. It’s a darn shame because the food, beer and atmosphere is spot on. It’s all about the service. Our server was slow, unprofessional and too cool to care. Maybe it was because he too was sampling the beer as he worked. Very wrong in my book. This was to be a special last night in San Diego as a favorite place we enjoyed for 5 years and since it was my son’s college graduation. I even noted in the reservation. No one could care at all for making this dinner what it should have been. Super sad for writing this.
Good Beer and good food. Perfect for friday night hang out with your friends.
The host and server were wonderful, and thanks to the server I think I found my favorite IPA of all time. Loved the impossible burger and truffle fries.😍 We were with 2 very energetic kids, and everyone (staff and visitors in included) was vary gracious with them. We were visiting from out of town and will definitely be back!!🙌 🍔 🌱 🍻
Came here with my boyfriend on our visit to San Diego. We love going to breweries so it was a nice surprise seeing they served food as well. The duck nachos were amazing (!!!) and the farmhouse pizza was great. There’s an expansive list of beers, everyone will find one they’ll like.
Server was friendly and knowledgeable about the beers. Apps were great. Beer was great.
Great beer, food OK with the exception of the street tacos that were dry and tasteless. Service was incredibly slow and disorganized.
Server was great but wait for meal was incredibly long.
Service was slow. Know that it is loud, hard to have conversations.
We've been to Ballast Point on 3 separate occasions for dinner, and this time we found the quality of the food lacking. Our waitress was spot on, but most of the food was mediocre at best and about half of the entrees came out cold. I doubt we'll make plans to eat there again.
Uncharacteristically calm and quiet for Ballast Point! We lucked out and there wasn't a crowd for our Monday lunch over the holiday weekend. Our server, Jacob, was super awesome, attentive and friendly. Great beer and good eats as always! Love it here.
Amazing steak salad. The shrimp was well seasoned in a delicious marinade. The short ribs were fantastic.
It was a nice place to eat, I liked the decor, the food was good, our server could have been better. Our order was not what we asked for, and the lights were all of a sudden dimmed and we couldn't see our food. No one knew how to fix it. But it was still an interesting place to visit.
