Way over priced for selection of foods. Awful chicken dish, tenderloin tough. Only good thing was raw bar and desserts. Ordered Bloody Mary, worst I ever had and sipped made complaint and left of bill. Crazy. Will NEVER go back. Went years ago took my Mom when she was alive. It was elegant and food selection was wonderful. Down graded
The large buffet from previous years was gone. That was a lavish display and value. This time there were 3 or 4 small buffets with the same quality as last time, but not anywhere near the variety or quantity. One big disappointment, no bananas foster station.
The first cup of coffee I had was luke-warm and bitter. The next one was hot and bitter.
The food was wonderful but our meal was $367 for 3 people. Granted it was Christmas Day but a $66 tip for average service was too much and it was included in the bill. There was a place left for a tip so others might not have noticed it was included.. While the food was very good, it was a LOT more than we anticipated when $85 per person was the advertised price.
Attended the VERY expensive Christmas Day brunch ($85/person plus 25% gratuity auto added). Based on price point and reputation of this hotel, I had expectations of a premium experience with high quality food and gourmet offerings. Items were average and typical of much lower priced brunches elsewhere which typically also include at least a mimosa or bloody mary (this one did not). Most meat offerings were very dry, seafood bar had good selection but items seemed rubbery. Breakfast offerings were very limited for a brunch and general menu was not very inventive. Decor could have been better considering it was a holiday and omelet station was in the lobby which I found odd. Service was fine but did seem to wait longer than necessary for some refills, especially with how much staff was on the floor. One meat dish was good and desserts were good but overall, nothing there was worth the price tag, not even close. Even for a holiday experience. Would not do this again and would not recommend.
Another wonderful Christmas Brunch at the Ballantyne Ballroom. Music, Ice Sculptures, food is perfect for the holiday! The service team was strong, but the main server was lacking. Our waitress was MIA most of the meal, not a huge problem at a Buffet but when one or more people at the table have had empty drinks for roughly ten minutes it is a bit of an annoyance. The secondary team filling waters and clearing plates were spot on, never hovering but always there when needed. The managers are unbelievable, making a point to welcome everyone, checking on drinks, and even clearing tables to keep the pace if needed. We look forward to seeing Michael every year, he was our waiter one year and has been a banquet manager the last couple years (well deserved promotion!). He’s clearly a crowd favorite as multiple tables make a point to say hello to him and Thank him.
Christmas Brunch. Cold food was very good but hot food was dried out chicken, dried out prime rib, and just lacked any desirable taste. The cold food- Shrimp and crab claws were good. My husband felt like something was wrong with oysters and couldn’t eat them. Desserts even weren’t anything to write anything great about except for ice cream bar which was fun and very good. This brunch was terribly expensive and lacked ..... we had one terrible server and one that was excellent. The young lady checked on us and kept us with tea. The guy was obviously just there.
The service was slow . They sat us at a fold up card table, so it wobbled a lot while we were eating. The food was good, but the $85 charge per person plus tax and 24% gratuity was not worth it. My wife had one cocktail priced at $14. We walked out with a $246 bill. The food, ambiance and service was not worth $246. It's just my wife and I, so I was thinking we could make this a tradition every Christmas, but the value for the cost is not there. We can go to any of the high-end steakhouses, have a few drinks and a full course meal and still pay less. I recommend staying home or finding a better option for Christmas brunch. We had New Year's Eve booked for dinner, but we decided not to go after this experience.
We enjoyed this Christmas day event. I would strongly recommend utilizing heating plates under the wood for the carved foods as they get cold too quickly. Understandable with a large group of guests but avoidable with an inlaid heating element underneath the wood that the meat, poultry, or fish is carved on. This would truly make a significant difference in the experience. I would also reintroduce turkey as I believe it's an expectation of most holiday attendees.
We have been enjoying the Ballantyne Christmas Buffet every year it has been offered. It has always been very good, but this year was the best so far. A year or so ago I detected a real uptick in the quality and variety of the food -- which had always been good -- and learned that there was a new executive chef. That executive chef has continued to tweak and improve things, and it was apparent. Everything was delicious, attractive, and sumptuous. The salads/appetizers table had something for every taste and expectation. I can't possibly list everything offered, but from the quality of the cheeses to the creativity of the salads to the size of the shrimp, crab claws, and oysters -- it was all first class. We did not go to the omelet station, as we often do, but I could see that it, too, had huge variety and excellent quality. Then there were the meats and vegetables. Instead of the expected steamship round of beef, there was tender, perfectly cooked prime rib. Instead of the expected plain baked fish, there was salmon en croute. I never made it to the ham, roast lamb, chicken, or other meats. The vegetables (and vegetarian offerings) were equally good, from the fresh-not-frozen Brussels sprouts to the grilled vegetables, everything was perfectly seasoned and prepared. We know to leave room for the Bananas Foster, and in past years we also have tasted a variety of things from the vast dessert table. This year, though, we never made it past the Bananas Foster to the dessert table. Everything else was just too good.
Very Expensive incredible brunch.
24 percent gratuity included in bill, I noticed this after I had tipped more than that to the server.
