Food was terrific. Happy to see some vegan options. Service was attentive and not intrusive. Ambiance was outstanding.
Worse dining experience ever. Waste of time and money.
Horrible acoustics, decent food and drinks but wait staff a little slow/bumbling.
The ambiance overlooking the marina is lovely. We went early and had wonderful service. The food was good, but I would say not outstanding. We'll be back!
This is a very pleasant harbor-side restaurant with good food, great service and reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
We love Baleen and have been coming for years. The food is consistently delicious and the ambiance is beautiful but the service has not been great for some time. Last night we waited a good 15 minutes before anyone took our cocktail order, hors d’oeuvres were left on the table until dessert arrived (and we were clearly finished with them) and we refilled our own wine glasses all night. Such a disappointment because it could be five star! Not sure what’s happening here but massive lack of attention to detail.
Waitress left on break after taking our order and never told anyone. We had to get our own forks, napkins and water. She forget to put in one of our meals. We have eaten here several time and over half the time we had poor service.
Service was super slow. Good cold and undercooked.
Wedge salad was really good with really thick slices of bacon that were great. Salmon was very good.
Beautiful for brunch! The staff are attentive and the food was delicious. We ordered sweet and savory dishes like the cornmeal pancakes and lobster Mac and cheese.
The restaurant is in a beautiful setting. The atmosphere is energetic. It is a great place for meeting friends and family. The bar is great and the drinks are good.
Food was amazing - those Brussels sprouts are the best I have ever had!
Great food! Went here on a date night with my husband and got a nice harbor view. The service was nice and the overall feel of the place was enjoyable. Will definitely come back as there were tapas on the menu we got too full to try!
We had a lovely Easter brunch at Baleen. The food was amazing.
Extremely disappointed in how our reservation and experience was handled. Made a reservation for a table and was informed that I only had limited choices if I didn't want a high top table. As we have a wheel chair in our party, I made a reservation for a standard height table at a less than desirable time. Baleen is 2 stories with the dining room on the 2nd floor and the kitchen on the ground level. We went to the 2nd level to check in (with assistance from the staff on getting our wheel chair up to the second level). When we checked in, we were told that our table was on the first floor. I didn't even know there was a first floor. It turns out they carved out a separate dining area behind the kitchen (even though it overlooks the harbor) it has no personality. I asked to be seated in the main dining room, which is beautiful. They could not accommodate us. We wound up accepting the table downstairs behind the restaurant and we were the only table to be served there. Needless to say, even though our server tried very hard, service was difficult. As a party of 8 with a reservation about 2 weeks ahead, I believe better accommodations should have been made. We were also very underwhelmed by the food. I ordered the $13 Bloody Mary and it came out nothing like described in the menu. We noticed that the charge was $11 on the bill and it was named something completely different than on the menu, so we're not sure what we received. The Monte Cristo sandwich was nothing more than a ham and cheese sandwich with the french toast as the bread slices. A Monte Cristo should be deep fried. Never seen anything like this. All-in-all the experience was not what we hoped for.
Hoping we just got a fluke bad server but our party of 6 last Sunday experienced some pretty poor service. Waitress was pleasant enough just not on the ball; things were slow; we weren’t given full food lowdown (they have a Chef’s Prix Fix din we that we had to pull information out of her...and we ordered several once we did). Food was good and we’ll return but they need to take their service up a few notches for sure!!! Better luck next time!
The restaurant has a beautiful view and s decorated nicely. The service was ok. My skirt steak was deliciously cooked as were the patatas bravas . The noise level was way too high and this made our time a bit uncomfortable
We went out for a nice dinner and felt more like a diner. It was very loud. View was beautiful and the service was great.
Awesome food and service in a great atmosphere!
Excellent food, service. Nice background music.
Noon lunch and only 2 other tables in the place, staff was sparse. Ambiance is great. Food was good. Think it does better for happy hour.
We ate there two times at our first anniversary. My husband loved it. Even though the first reservation wasn’t done accurately, we enjoyed ourselves the whole day. It was beautiful.
It's a great place for drinks and meeting friends but I thought it was a little too pricey for what you get. I wasn't really impressed with my meal.
The server Karen was fantastic!! Easy going and no rush in regards to ordering quickly. The food was amazing and we could chat and hear our entire party easily without screaming. Beautiful place!!
The drinks were excellent! Our waitress was cool. The food was quite horrible. The steak was cold and over cooked.... the brussel sprouts were charred.
Six female friends got together to celebrate 2 birthdays. Our experience was awesome.
Had a few small plates and cocktails. Waiter talked us into some oysters and they were amazing. Then he spaces our other dishes out in a very enjoyable way. Food was great, especially the duck carnitas.
Ambiance was great for date night.
It’s VERY loud in there when the restaurant is full because it is a tile floor with no table cloths to dampen the sound. It was not pleasant. Food was “eh”. Skirt steak over charred. Scallops gritty from sand. Calamari very bland. Lobster Mac watery. Frozen dinner rolls table side. Service extremely slow. Overall not worth the cost - at all. Will not return.
Place was quiet for lunch, would go back for dinner.
Awesome food and great service ...
The food was amazing
Great food, great staff, outstanding manager. Kudos to Mike and crew!
Food offerings improved over last couple years and some really good offerings. Seabass is excellent as is clam chowder.
Excellent service. Best location in Redondo Beach by far with either self parking of good valet service. Would recommend the restaurant to all my friends.
Everything was just lovely and we were very well looked after
We had a great time service was perfect and so was the food... We will be back!
Food was excellent. Service was slow, especially bar service. Fortunately, they "comped" our cocktails that took so long to get. The biggest negative was the extreme noise level in the restaurant. There are no noise absorbing surfaces in the place and we had to scream across our small table for four in order to be heard.
Wonderful atmosphere and great service. Food was a bit overpriced and, oddly, all our main dishes were much too salty.
Family night out.
Our first time there and both of us were excited. As we waited for our table, we absorbed the vibrant energy on a very busy Saturday night. We were invited to visit the bar while out table was getting set up. The bartender greeted us and handed us the drink menu and our drinks were made on the spot. Our drinks were great and refreshing.
We waiting about 15 minutes until we were approached by our waitress and she did apologize for the delay and understandably so it was super busy. We had our drinks and were chatting so the wait wasn’t that bad. We started with Ahi Poke and Wild Mushrooms on flat bread and both were so gooood!!!
Our main course was the Hanger steak medium cook and Seared Scallops that was mind blowing good. My Hanger Steak was amazing served with gold potatoes and sautéed asparagus. Our waitress (wish i could remember her name) was incredibly sweet and attentive and was quick to get anything we needed.
For dessert we shared the Apple Tart with cinnamon ice cream and it was simply incredibly and left me wanting more!
We celebrated a belated Valentines dinner without the kids and visiting Baileen Kitchen was a pleasure to remember for a little bg time. Both of us were impressed with this establishment, the food quality and service were top notch. The live entertainment, a great musician duo performed on 2/16/19, were awesome and talented and made dinner more enjoyable. We can’t wait to go go with friends.
