Always enjoy Luigi’s service and friendliness at the bar.
First, let me say...BALEEN at LaPlaya is one of our favorite places. We have dined there, and, stayed there for years...sadly, our experience was disappointing ....our waiter took our drink order and did not return for a half hour, he seemed to disappear throughout the evening, I’m assuming he was overbooked with tables, we ordered, our appetizer came and was cleared , our entrees came and we said wait , our salad course has not been served, they took them back, brought out the salad course, and, when the entrees were served again, the food was not hot...so, that lead us all to believe , our food was left under warming lights and not remade...it makes me sad to say all this, I’m hoping it will be helpful to the restaurant mgmt. Its a special beautiful place .
Baleen is always a great experience. Beachside dining in an elegant setting. LaPlaya Resort has a great setting for visitors who want a lifestyle true Florida dining event. Enjoy your dinner, watch a beautiful sunset and relax at the fire pit after a gourmet meal.
Nice meal but the wines by the glass need big improvement.
The ambience of the Gulf view is always captivating! Food is always good maybe a tad pricey. Everyone is friendly and wants to make sure your experience is excellent. We give high marks to Duane as he is very friendly and has excellent service. Our favorite place!
A beautiful, sunset over the Gulf of Mexico while dining on fresh seafood , delicious wine and the love of my life. It doesn't get much better than that - And , oh, the service was impeccable (really trained servers). Plus.....I got to ring the famous bell at sunset.
We ate in the bar section outside to watch the sunset. We were told we could eat there. Ordered crab lyonnaise salad. Which came without crab. It has a poached egg in it which was cold and it took 10 mins and asking three people before our waitress came back. She said she would bring us crab. Another 10 mins goes by and I said to just forget it. Ordered bread which came after dinner arrived. Ordered a wine which never came. The “signature dish” which was grouper and our split grouper was raw and the risotto was Beyond garlicky. Also ordered Brussels sprouts which also never came. Manager was totally condescending but did take off salad and only one grouper. We felt he didn’t appreciate customers If we ever go back it will only be for drinks and sunset! Awful experience! Went to Trulux the next day and Had the MOST wonderful experience. That place has class!!!
It looks like the place really has gone down with the new management. The food was not very good at all and one seemed to be more crowded than it used to be. Couldn’t recommend it.
Late seating at our reserved table - ever cooked, dry Grouper price at $46- overworked waiter. We won’t be back.
Salad was inedible... sent it back, My grouper was room temperature. Not a good experience
We have been here many times and usually have a very good experience, however the hostess was completely rude and we were seated 45 minutes after our reservation. Very frustrating. Food was great, but service could have been better.
If you like a salty food this is a perfect place for you. I didn't enjoy any of my food besides creme brulee. For sure it is not a place that I will think of in the future. Great service but very poor quality of food.
I appreciated the hostesses' birthday welcome for my girlfriend upon our arrival and our server Christopher's attention to our experience—particularly the surprise long-stemmed rose and slice of chocolate cake for her. Outstanding.
We had a 7:15 reservation. We were not seated for 45 minutes. They had open tables. Staff was disorganized. They did not get my order right.
Lovely night out on the terrace overlooking the gulf and a spectacular sunset
Nous y retournerons avec des amis
The view is exquisite and the food was excellent! Would return in the future.
Pretty location, view. Food was above average- my tuna was excellent- but nothing stood out. Our waiter was pretty terrible and other events of those types that is constantly looking around and doesn't look at you when speaking.
When I was in Naples last week I dined at Baleen twice for dinner (breakfast every morning since we were staying at the hotel!) The first time we dined there it was good. We were celebrating an engagement of some friends and had a very extravagant dinner with mucho alcohol. The food was good and I ordered the specialty of the house, a grouper dish. The corn, crab and risotto cake it sat on was so delicious. The fish was good, no problem. We walked out happy, everyone seemed to enjoy their dinner. Chocolate Kahlua "cake" was fabulous as was the key lime cheesecake - excellent desserts. Cut to 3 days later. I took a friend there for her birthday dinner. She ordered salmon and I again, ordered the grouper because I enjoyed it a few days before. To interject something here: a different friend had mentioned that she disliked Baleen because she had been there recently and her fish was overcooked. Anyway, back to my dinner. The grouper was terribly chewy - totally overcooked and my friends salmon was very well done and dry. They didn't even ask how she wanted it cooked as is usual with salmon. I did mention it to the waiter and when he brought the check he apologized and took my grouper ($45) off the bill. I really appreciated that as it would have been a crime to pay that for such badly cooked fish. Coupled with the fact that my other friend said she had had overcooked fish here and that my friend and I both had overcooked fish here I feel I need to report this. Also, at breakfast the staff could not possibly have been kinder and more friendly and helpful. At dinner, not so much. For such a pricey venue I think they should rethink their staff, the fish cooks and the terrible bread.
All was very good, however, with the sun setting in April with temps around 80+, dining with the sun in your face was awful. The pull down screens did not work so the sun was extremely hot and annoying up on the patio area.
I would recommend Baleen for the view and ambience around the water but the new decor is very "cold" which contributes to the ridiculous level of noise in the dining room.
Food was good but the high prices of common things such as grouper entree ($46) makes you feel like you are getting ripped off.
For those prices everything else should be almost perfect and they certainly were not.
It was perfect!! Thank you for accommodating our requests and providing a n
We had a perfect evening!
Good food in a excellent atmosphere
Always one of my favorite restaurants. Beach view. Great food and service. A must in Naples.
Adriano was our waiter and he is top notch! Made excellent suggestions for dinner and dessert! He definitely made me very special on my birthday! He even sang Happy Birthday in Italian to me! He went above and beyond!!!
A very special place, particularly dining outside on the lawn next to Gulf of Mexico. My best birthday celebration ever
First of all it is a beautiful spot & have eaten there several times. My husbands Grouper was fishy tasting & not very good. My daughters boyfriend ordered his steak medium rare & it arrived med +
My lobster risotto was delicious! Our waiter was excellent!! No fault of his & certainly tried to make things right.
We had a wonderful dinning experience. Food and service were wonderful — the terraced outdoor seating overlooking the ocean made the evening exceptional.
Had a reservation at 8:00 and didn’t seat us until 9:30. Even tho they bought us a round of drinks it still was a major inconvenience and then he food was not worth the price.
Main courses and desserts were excellent. Appetizers Ceviche’ and Caesar Salad not up to par for this wonderful restaurant. The bread was rather ordinary as well,
I love this restaurant right on the Gulf so you can watch the sun set. Service is always very attentive and the food is well presented and very tasty. It is a bit expensive so I save it for special occasions.
We had a wonderful server. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and pleasure to talk to.
Worlds best sunset!
Baleen is probably the nicest and most elegant water front dining experience in Naples, FL. Our waiter, Rob was attentive but not intrusive! The food was delicious and the setting breathtaking! Go around sunset, you won’t be disappointed!
Dwayne was a great server. The view is amazing. Cavatelli was amazing
Great place to watch the sunset. Food is so-so.
Had a get together sunset dinner with 3 friends from afar. We made reservations to sit outside on the covered patio. (I would never ever want to sit inside as it is ugly, ugly with cheap furniture!).
Our food and service was excellent. The view is gorgeous.
However what spoils it is the decor and furnishings ........ they are more than disappointing.
The new "refurbishing" has ruined it's former Old Naples Charm and quality finishes in a classic building.
We really enjoyed our dinner loved pre fixed choices Perfect size. Out short ribs were especially good.
Nice food, excellent service, fantastic view, grossly overpriced for Easter Dinner
