If you're going to take your name from a badass like the patron saint of blacksmiths, you better be able to back it up. Baldamar marks the turning point where we usher in the new standard for style, service and steak. It means the menu’s made with old-world craft at its core and modern day meat eaters in mind — with flavors forged in fire and folded into pure primal perfection. It’s where every steak is aged 40 days and 40 nights for a taste of biblical proportion, and where crazy-fresh seafood means it was caught during your morning commute. At the bar sits every spirit imaginable, and someone who isn’t afraid to use them. This is more than a new steakhouse. It’s a line in the sand. It’s not just where you celebrate special occasions. It’s where you create them.

    Baldamar is a welcome destination on the near north side of the twin cities. Wonderful steaks, with tasty side options. It’s slightly noisy, but the atmosphere is well worth the visit.

    We were celebrating my bosses retirement and to our surprise our table was decorated. Jackie our waitress was a delightful and the food was delicious.

    This was our first time and we were blown away with the service and food. First there was service, Red was our server and she made the whole experience outstanding. From recommending items to fun white banter my wife and I were blown away. Now for the food……the bacon bourbon appetizer was amazing, steaks were great and the cocktails and wine just made for an amazing evening. We will for sure be back to eat here. Way to go, cheers!!

    It was the first experience with this restaurant. Can say from the start we were welcomed, shown our booth and offered beverages. Our server was fun and knowledgeable about the menu.I had the 1/2 short rib grilled cheese sandwich and my friend, the prime ribs sandwich. Both were really tasty. The house salad is amazing. Will definitely return and recommend Baldamar to anyone. Lunch prices were what we expected add this to good service and good food! That’s why I gave it 5 stars.

    We went here for our 20th anniversary dinner. It was on a week night so it was not terribly busy when we got there. Since I had made a reservation a couple of weeks in advance and designated it as an anniversary, I expected that they would seat us in a cozy booth. However they first attempted to seat us at a small two-person table in the middle of the open area. Since there were several open booths, I immediately asked to be moved to one, which they accommodated us just fine, I was just a bit disappointed that I had to ask for it. I expected that it should have been automatic. After that, the food and the service were both very good, I would hesitate to say outstanding however. My husband said his steak was very good but too salty. I had the King Crab which was also very good, but I'm not sure if we will go there again or not, given the prices.

    This was our first visit to Baldamar. Excellent food and service! The ambiance was great. Our server was very knowledgeable and took all the time we needed to answer questions. The manager also stopped by and talked with us for a while. We were celebrating anniversaries with another couple and at the end of the meal our server brought us two deserts "on the house". Great experience!
