Wonderful service and found was outstanding!
Our dinner on Saturday night was delightful at Bakersfield. The Roasted Cauliflower appetizer as well as the special soup were great appetizers. The Mango glazed Salmon dish was outstanding and the Farmer's Salad was very good as usual. Our waiter was very helpful and added to the overall wonderful dining experience.
It was a holiday, so I write this understanding that and giving some benefit of the doubt. We chose the last seating, and I think this was part of the problem. We were crammed into a very tight area up against a large party, and while we understand that there were stations in place for the waitstaff, it made for a bit of discomfort. The portions were large; food was good, as we expected. Waiter forgot our rolls completely (not too big of a deal) and didn’t come back that often, probably because he couldn’t easily. There were also mistakes with the minor adjustments we asked for.
On one hand, the prix fixe of $35 was reasonable. On the other, there were enough small things wrong that we would probably not choose to return on a holiday.
Great meal and great service. The Thanksgiving dinner was delicious. I would highly recommend!!
Had the knife and fork chicken-amazing!!! Tuna appetizer was equally as good!
Sara our server was awesome! Great suggestions. Good food choices, something for everyone. Burgers were great
Delicious food. Menu varied, but limited. Good service
Our server, Elena was very attentive and professional...great job. The addition of the smoked double cut pork chop to the new menu is a great choice. We enjoy the restaurant but find it noisy on weekends. Please encourage your hostesses to look more professional at the front desk.....they’re way too casual, big baggy sweaters and leggings with gym shoes don’t convey a positive impression, in my opinion. You should insist on a standard attire.
Love the food here. It’s consistently tasty. In the past service has been perfect but this time our server disappeared for 45 minutes after our food was delivered.
Pork ragu pasta was over cooked and mushy. Chicken lulu bowl was tasteless
Good food. Good service. Always dependable . Great guacamole
We love this restaurant! Once again, we were not disappointed. The food was delicious! I had the salmon which was super fresh tasting (and I have tried salmon at many places)! We especially love the ambiance here. We look forward to returning soon.
Wasn't too bothered that we had to wait for our table, our server was nice but 'disappeared' a few times. Not very attentive. The food was good, but parts of it were not prepared correctly and could find our server to get those issues addressed.
Service was a little slow as our order got in just after a 50 person order. Server was still helpful and did his best to keep us supplied with salad and bread while we waited for our main course.
Came in for a Prix fixe menu service did not know they had one had to wait at least 20 minutes before she and her boss could figure it out had a ravioli dish was not offered extra Parmesan cheese . Have dine here before something different food doesn't taste as good as it used to
Excellent food. Very good wine list and super bargains on wine specials. Reasonable food prices and best wait staff in the neighborhood.
Always an excellent choice. Great service!
The food prices are higher than many restaurants in the area but the food quality is very mediocre. Ambiance leaves something to be desired. While the interior design is attempting to be upscale it just does not appear that the effort and money invested in the interior has served to draw anyone but the tee shirt and jeans searing crowd. At these prices you simply expect more.
The service was beyond terrible. No one came to our table for at least 20 minutes until we went and got someone. Appetizers finally arrived, we had to go get our own silver ware and napkins. Food was quite good but the service ruined the night.
This is the first time we have come to Bakersfield and not been thrilled with our food and service. The medium rare steak was cold and raw in the center. The burger was so greasy it turned the bun to mush and was difficult to eat. This is not the typical experience at this restaurant. We will definitely give them the benefit of the doubt and go back again.
Fun night with friend and great food. Totally enjoyed
Always a great time with excellent food and service
Although very good, the sandwiches were too large for a meal. Crispy Brussels Sprouts tasted very yummy.
Wait staff was very attentive, happy we were there, and happy to be there themselves!
ordered prime rib medium. was well done and obviously reheated and tough. I would expect meat like this at Denny’s but not here.
Second time here and just as great as first time. All the menu options and specials are both interesting and sound so delicious. The server was very knowledgeable and made recommendations and everyone loved their food. Salads are creative, the cauliflower steak had nice blend of flavors, the cauliflower pizza special was mouth watering, and the knife and fork fried chicken is amazing. Can't wait to go bake to try other dishes.
Service is excellent. Ambience is excellent as well. You can actually have a conversation without shouting. Food quality inconsistent.
It took at least 20 minutes from the time we sat until the time our server came back to tell us that they could not find the bottle of wine we ordered. A manager never came by to apologize, etc. Food was good and our server was nice but they seemed understaffed.
The food and service was very good. I had the lobster roll sandwich and my husband
had the tuna which was very good.
$3beers on tap Friday night. Popcorn shrimp appetizer spicy and tasty! Newer menu
Service, including hostess- top notch. The patio is perfect for a summer evening, and the food was delish. The drink specials were a bonus!
Delicious as always! Very flavorful with fresh ingredients. I had the salmon which was prepared just right and my son had the farmers burger. We ended up splitting and sharing. We thought it was one of the best burgers we ever had!
Food was delicious. The only complaint is that it was cold inside. The server was very friendly. Cocktails were good and the food was very healthy and delicious
So I have wanted to go here for a couple years but never got a chance to stop by. Once I was in there it was a very laid-back atmosphere. Very quaint and cozy. The noise level wasn't so high. The food was fast and good period is 2 weeks later and the guess that went with it still sucking about the restaurant.
I was there one year ago and it was fabulous! Javier was our mixologist and the food was great! I have a feeling they now have a new chef? This time our experience was much different. I sent back my special of the night - shrimp and vodka pasta. How can you mess up pasta? I could taste nothing but salt! They brought me another special of the night - prime rib and again, it overly salty. I left there feeling so disappointed since we had specifically gone for our special anniversary dinner.
This was my second visit to Bakersfield. I visited the restaurant when it first opened and was not impressed back then. I thought i would give it a second try.
Our waiter was great, but he was training a new staff person. While she was polite, I think they let her do too much on her own. She was just not ready to be independently attending patrons. Appetizer plates were placed haphazardly in front of us. Small requests for straws for our water went unanswered twice.
The food was the biggest disappointment. I had the Salmon. It was a bit over cooked and the cranberry quinoa was practically tasteless. My wife had the Grilled Lulu Chicken. The chicken was so overcooked that it was difficult to cut with a sharp knife. The cauliflower rice was also overcooked and practically "mashed". My aunt and her friend had burgers and they seemed to be cooked properly and they also seemed to enjoy them.
The wines are definitely overpriced. Even though we chose one of the $29 special wines, it was a better bargain to purchase the same wine by the glass for $6.
It is disappointing that a restaurant tied to Standard Market cannot seem to get Bakersfield in line with the quality that is often demonstrated at Standard Market. Unfortunately in this case, two strikes and they are out.
Extremely good prime rib! Some of the best we've ever had.
I visited Bakersfield several times before, but this visit was a disappointment. The restaurant was not very busy when my guest and I arrived Sunday afternoon. Apparently the bartender was also covering the dining area. He took our drink order, told us the specials, brought us our drinks.....and then half an hour passed without him coming back to take our food order. We finished our soft drinks while waiting, so we were also looking for refills. I asked another staff member to have him stop by; he did, apologized for forgetting us and took our order. The food arrived within the expected preparation time, but a dinner salad had the optional chicken that was not ordered and the "Fork and Knife Chicken" didn't have the expected habanero butter. We asked that the chicken be removed from the salad and for the missing habanero butter. When the check arrived, there was a courtesy deduction (for the delay), but the optional chicken we didn't want and didn't order was on the bill. So the 20% discount ended up around 15% due to the overcharge. The waiter was pleasant and personable, but the poor service at nearly every step of the way caused me to reduce the gratuity from the usual - something I normally don't do.
Great varied menu for all
We eat across the street at the standard market. We have wanted to try Bakersfield for a while.
Service was great , food great and we really enjoyed our dinner. It was my wife’s birthday and our anniversary.
We will be back again.
Rich and Kathy Robertaccio
Ribs were dry, guacamole was pretty good, farmers salad was the star.
