                                          We've eaten at Baker and Wife three times, and the previous two times were very good. This time was not. The lamb chops were among the worst I've ever had, way overcooked and covered in a gravy/jus that tasted strongly like an institutional mix of some sort. It did not taste remotely like a proper house made jus. Meat can be over- or undercooked a small amount in average-to-good kitchens (although that essentially never happens in excellent kitchens), and I accept that without complaint, but this one was so far beyond the mark that it demonstrated a complete inattention to detail (or a lack of concern) by the kitchen. The bad gravy/jus (or whatever it was) is a more substantial failure in my opinion because it seemed like a decision to cut corners. That's not an off night by the chef, that's a failure of management. Again, our first two visits were good, which is why we went back. Perhaps we were expecting too much for the price point (about $50-60 per diner, all in), and I suppose it was a bit better that you'd get at Applebee's or other inexpensive-dinner places. But the difference between what we got this time, and what we consistently get at Antoines, or Rosemary and Thyme, or Miguel's, or Ortygia, or many other reasonably-priced Sarasota options, is substantial, and not in a good way. As a final thought, the first two times we visited B/W we had the Basque (burned) cheesecake desert, which was great. I don't know if it's still on the menu (we declined the invitation to look at a dessert menu), but if you go and they have the Basque cheesecake, get it.

                                          Very interesting food and cocktail choices. This was our second visit and both times all four diners were extremely pleased with their food. Service was excellent. Attentive but not overbearing. Will definitely dine there again.

                                          Our table had the Korean BBQ Meatloaf, salmon, creme rules and floutless chocolate cake. All fabulous!! Service was great, nice wine list. Our first time and it won't be Our last!

                                          This place is always amazing. The food and menu are done very well.Service is terrific. The Tuna appetizer was very tasty as was the seared Cobia and curry seafood dish. Always a favorite!!

                                          Food: we started with apps, the tuna poke was excellent, I could lick the bowl! The calamari was very good too, neither are We had the cucumber basil martini which was refreshing, and the strawberry rhubarb cocktail which was layered with flavors and very good, not much alcohol in their cocktails though. Next we had the roasted chicken which was juicy and flavorful, couscous was good but not outstanding, friend had the tiger shrimp and peanut noodles, it was good but i felt the noodles were way over cooked, sauce was really good though. We had the pineapple martini with that and that is my favorite cocktail of the evening. There was 3 of us and with tip it was $235 half of that was the cocktails. I felt it was a good value. Loved the decor and ambiance but it gets really loud when full. Locals love this place as it filled up fast.

                                          We brought my father-in-law and his wife, visiting from us from TX for the first time since we moved, and they were blown away by the food. He had the Korean Meatloaf and she had the lamb chops special. Thanks B&W!
