My pork tacos were cold and the corn shells were cold as well.
Haven’t been here for several months so decided to give it another try. They changed a whole LOT since last time . Stopped in for a bite with the wife and she had the House marg. (a surprising good margarita) Nachos (big plate of nachos) the guacamole and a couple tacos. The food portions were decent and the quality was great. The staff was perhaps the friendliest I’ve ever encountered and too seemed happy. They also seem to have had a change in management with 2 female managers now. Both friendly and pleasant and seemed to be hands-on. The patio is the best seat with TVs and 2 huge overhead heaters. The parking is free valet and the kitchen is still an open style set up. This experience was far better than my first . My wife is a fan so we will be back.
Excellent! Every taco was exceptional. I️ loved the Piccadillo and the fish taco, my husbands favorite was the smoked chicken. Chicken was perfect! We got right in and had a great night, several employees stopped by to check on us. Very attentive and friendly. We will be making this a regular stop.
Excellent food, reasonably priced, and great service. Family friendly.
Excellent from start to finish! Perfect spot to eat while on our honeymoon before seeing a show at the Ryman.
Was a fan early on, but past several times I’ve had marginal or poor service. Smaller portions and very disappointed the queso w the mushrooms pork rinds and potatoes are gone— we brought friend visiting from Texas for it and couldn’t order.
I love all their food EXCEPT for chips. Too greasy. IMO can make or break difference in Mexican Place. Good service. Friendly staff -creative menu
Finally, some real Mexican food for this transplanted Angelino. I’ll be back soon!
We always enjoy our dinners at Bajo Sexto. Food was perfect as always. We especially loved the Baja Fish taco!
Good food but it took a while to get it. Sunday afternoon and the place was not crowded but still took 15 minutes to get a salad an hot dish. The cook/bartender seemed to be more interested I chatting with 2people at the bar than doing his job.
Our waiter Nick was great! The food was delicious and service was excellent.
Very good overall with brunch. We eat here often and love it! One low point was not being able to get a hard shell with my piccadillo taco as requested as they did not have enough at 11:30 am.
My husband and I enjoyed a pleasant experience at Bajo Sexto (even though we had to ask about our chips and cheese; it eventually arrived after our other food). Our waitress and another woman (perhaps a manager or ?) were very attentive and quite apologetic for this delay. Our cheese and chips was not listed on our bill due to the delay. . .that was appreciated.
The food was delicious and is the closest to authentic Mexican food that we have eaten since we moved from San Miguel de Allende, MX two years ago. This was our first visit to Bajo Sexto, and we will plan to go back.
Personally, I wish there were a few more wines listed on the menu. I drink Sauvignon Blanc and even tasted the Chardonnay, but it just didn't work for me. I am not a beer drinker and drank enough tequila while living in MX to last a lifetime. ( :
I liked the food a lot better before they changed the menu. The flank steak dinner had been delicious. The flank steak quesadilla was not a good substitute. The red salsa was odd. I was disappointed.
The place felt dirty. The waiter started by listing all of the things they were out of, two items being Guacamole (avocados too expensive?) and pork? Restaurant wasn't busy but took a while for us to get seated and it took the waiter a while to get to us. It was just average.
The food was very good but the evening we were there the flies were terrible and out of control.
Very disappointed in the experience. I had high hopes based on some IG and Google pics/reviews. My food was trash and extremely over priced. I wish I had stopped at a $1-$2 taco truck instead.
It was not good. Food was really salty. Quesadilla was soggy. Black beans were mashed, and unappetizing. Fish taco was spicy and couldn't finish it. Pitcher of margaritas was over $40. The staff was very apologetic and took many items off our bill.
I want to LOVE this place, but it's difficult. Service was just TERRIBLE. The food is fantastic but we sat and watched as our server disappeared and our order for appetizers sat and sat and sat. Two tables in the entire restaurant and you'd think they could get the food to the table. I swear to God, I could have jumped behind the counter and made the melty cheese thingy and the guacamole faster without knowing where anything was. It was $100 plus tip for 6; no alcohol. It's really worth it. Food is outstanding....but....maybe people who live in Sylvan Park or "Historic West Nashville" will find slow, shuffling service (when they are not even busy) okay. I don't like it.
So disappointedafter reading glowing reviews in numerous publications. Margarita was bitter, chips were thick and greasy, food was lukewarm and presentation was blah.
The service here is just great. Every server and the management always take good care of me and my friends when we meet here. They are attentive and seem to genuinely care about your experience. AND the food is creative and fresh.
Service was terrible even though it was not crowded at all. Server spent more time talking with other servers at the bar than helping us. I felt it was overpriced for the small portions. Chips were greasy.
Don't read the negative service reviews, this place is based on vibe. The waitstaff was super-nice and just really relaxed- no one is rushing you out and they are reading the table. The chips in the chips and salsa YUM, let me say it again, YUM. I ordered three tacos. A shredded beef taco (not the name but the only one on the menu) it was very generous in portion and good. A scallop and tuna taco, good and my favorite; what I would call "normal" size. And then a Corn Maze or something like that...it was good and then it wasn't, it was texture for me . And 2 house margaritas and normally I hate margaritas out..these were good, a little strong and not too sick sweet. Good place for a girls night, first date, 100th date or group.
Tacos were perfect as always. The special of the day was lumb crab with cilantro and mint, delicious!
Overall, our experience was just ok. They now have mandatory valet parking, which was more trouble than it was worth. We had to wait to get our keys and have the valet pull our car out of the spot that we were essentially standing right next to. The food and service were fine. The ceviche didn't have much flavor, and I wish we'd gotten the guacamole, which is usually excellent, instead. Our tacos and sides were good. The kid's options were good, as well. It's a nice option that's close by for us, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.
Never got served. Came in, got seated (place only had about 6 other tables). Ditzy waitress comes to take our drink & appetizer order (water and chips/queso). She then proceeded to spend most of the next 28 minutes chatting with her friend at the hostess stand. Told us a couple of times that the kitchen was backed up, yet 2 other tables were seated after us, got served, paid, and left. At the 32 minute mark we were told it'd be 5 more minutes for our queso. We left. Always had a great experience here before, so hope this was just an anomaly.
Outstanding once again! Food and service perfect! Pork tamale my favorite!
We celebrated Father's Day with my husband and brother and our combined three kids for lunch! It turned out to be a great choice! The food was great, the atmosphere was relaxed.
Parking was a little challenging - but the staff was quick to help us. I believe they typically have a valet. We just arrived after valet was available.
This was a good place, but twice we had to ask for someone to wait on us, then we had to keep asking for more water, etc. Sometimes our guy was on top of it and brought us more chips without us asking, but overall, the service was just really slow and like no one cared we were sitting there. The food was great! Everyone was happy with their meal.
Excellent Mexican restaurant on Charlotte Pike.
Food and Margaritas were absolutely great and our waiter (Steven) was perfect.
Highly recommend the shrimp tempura taco !
I will return next time I'm in Nashville 👌🏽
I was excited to visit this new place. Got reservations on the porch and was seated immediately on time. Drinks were small and expensive. Animal nachos was flavorful but was 50% crumbs. The whole reason I wanted to try it was the pork belly and scallop taco. It was not as wonderful as imagined. The scallop was thin and rubbery. The pork belly was crunchy and flavorless. The only thing that was good is that the tacos are of good size. Chicken was good. Duck was flavorless and very disappointing. For three people the bill came to 92$ with tip. Will not be coming back.
Fantastic experience! Great food, great drinks and wonderful service (Grant). We frequent this place often! Celebrated our anniversary this time.
Love Baja Sexto! Their tacos are great, and the tempura shrimp tacos special last night was fantastic! The beet salad was also killer. Good beer options and cocktails too. One of our favorites!
Best authentic Mexican in Nashville. Reminds me of taco joints in San Antonio. (But please, change your menu: the singular of "tamales" is "tamal," not "tamale.") Love the Jarritos! And, valet parking is a big plus in such a crowded lot. Definitely one of our favorites.
This place was terrible. The service was slow, the food was not good, they ran out of half of menu, they could not run my card and were turning away customers on their own. Was a huge let down for a Mother's Day dinner. First and last time I dine here.
Super friendly staff and excellent tacos! Loved the brussel sprouts and prickly pear margarita!
Really enjoy this restaurant every time I go. My wife and I love the food here from the chips and guacamole to the great selection of tacos and all kinds of other delicious mexican entrees. We love that the food has lots of flavors that are tied together into some unique and tasty dishes. The drinks are great as well and there are plenty to choose from. Its a great experience you wont forget and you will want to go back!
Food was great, service was average but noise level was ridiculous. Almost impossible to hear my friend 2 feet away.
This was disappointing because things were fine. It wasn't enough to complain about, but you never felt like you were having a "Good" experience. $8 margarita was pretty weak. Ambiance was weird with patio light patio, dark interior, and TVs playing sports. No free chips despite $50 for an unfilling meal for two, plus one drink.
