Baida Moroccan Restaurant
Baida Moroccan Restaurant in Saint Louis, Missouri has bragging rights as the first establishment to serve this kind of cuisine in the area. Therefore, if you like Moroccan food, plan your trip to try dishes like zaaluk, shakshuka, shrimp pil-pil, loubia and bastilla, just to name a handful of the appetizers. For an entrée, you can have lamb, fish or chicken tagine.
There are also regular belly dancers at Baida Moroccan Restaurant if you like some entertainment with your meal. Furthermore, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are all wine nights at Baida Moroccan Restaurant for those who savor a good vintage.
We live about a block away and go there fairly regularly. The friendliness of the owner and the good food keep us coming.
For food that is delicious yet healthy Baida is the best restaurant in St Louis. Moroccan food is known for utilizing mixtures of vegetables and sometime fruit mixed with meats (or not) to create flavors to delight the palate. The food is not spicy and has not too much salt one does not miss them.
The service is also quite good.
Delicious, healthy, nice people. The food was soooo good !
What a wonderful place! Owned by a couple, one cooking and one managing front of house. We were warmly greeted, and after chatting were offered some recommendations. We ordered several of the recommended dishes, and they were excellent.
Baida is a gem!
Wonderful service. I had the Mashwee with vegetable couscous. It was fantastic but you better bring your appetite as the portions are large. Will definitely be back
Terrific, authentic cuisine and the owners are super hospitable. We haves dined there several times and love to bring guests!
The food is great!
Though... from start to finish.. it was a two hour ordeal.
One waiter and maybe two cooks...
In all... the waiter couldn’t do more than he did, rather the issue falls back on the kitchen.
It was my second time eating here and unfortunately it will be my last time eating there. I love the food but waiting and hour and 30 minutes to get your main course is not right.
If anything, this restaurant has the hardest part nailed down.. the food. Though, if they want to keep their doors open they will need to pick up the pace in serving.
The 4 of us really enjoyed everything about our meal and experience. It's a very small restaurant which added to the ambience. Decorated authentically and comfortably. The staff was very nice and the owner stopped by to see if we were enjoying our experience. The food was delicious and fresh . Subtlety spiced and plentiful. 4 of us shared 3 appetizers and 2 entrees and had lots left over. Would happily return!
My first trip there but not my last. Truly authentic Moroccan food.
We loved it.
Third time at Baida and it is always wonderful. Authentic and delicious Moroccan food and wonderful owners. Very relaxed.
Very attentive waiter, Vegan & Vegetarian options, delicious food.
The good at Baida was great, and the staff was super friendly and helpful.
Celebrated a birthday there with friends, and it was a delightful experience. Food was excellent and modestly priced, and the service was great. Only criticism is that the place looked a bit shabby, and could have benefitted from a good cleaning. Nevertheless, we’d recommend it to others.
Moroccan cuisine is very subtly spiced. The Baida Moroccan Restaurant wonderfully prepares its dishes, and the service is generous. I recommend Baida as a great place to catch up with long-time friends: converse over mint tea while you share several appetizers and then order your entrees.
Never had Morracan food before and a friend recommended Baida. My way wife and I thought that it was really good.
Wait staff was very friendly and helpful.
Moroccan food is one of the great cuisines of the world, and Baida is faithful to its roots. All B'stilla are different, but this version is quite nice. The chicken tagine with preserved lemon was very tasty and the lemon was delicious. Vegetarian couscous was also very tasty. Proportions are generous. It is very nice to have a reliable Moroccan restaurant in St Louis.
We had dinner at Baida to celebrate my husband's birthday. The food was great and the gracious owner brought out his lute and sang Happy Birthday to my husband in Arabic! This made the evening so special for us.
Delicious authentic Moroccan food and very personal service.
The food at Baida is delicious, and the atmosphere is friendly.
Very nice owner & his chef wife. Food was tasty & prompt. Will go back.
I was just in Morocco in October and was craving some Moroccan fare. This was just what the doctor ordered.
The tagines were delicious!
So absolutely delicious. Surprisingly savory 7 type salad - "loved the lima beans" (phrase not commonly uttered). Mom's chicken tagine had fermented lemons, highly unique and she was delighted. Dad said his soup was the best he'd had in a long time. I cannot even voice how succulent my lamb over saffron rice was. YUM! Best meal I've had visiting the Ps in St Louis.
Loved Baida! Everything we ordered was delicious. We started with a variety of appetizers: Loubia, shakshuka, m'lwee (one order of chicken, one veggie). All dishes were flavorful and not spicy however Baida's harissa is served on the side so diners can add their preferred level of heat. We all ordered tajines: kefta meatballs, vegetable, and fish. The layers of flavors and richness in these dishes were mouth watering. We can't wait to go back!
Very nice restaurant with an interesting menu. All the food was presented nicely and looked very fresh and home made. We enjoyed the 7 salad, seafood Tangine, and a lamb dish. We look forward to going back and trying some different dishes. Great place for vegetarians!
Incredibly authentic Moroccan food, delicious and beautifully presented. We highly recommend to everyone. Friendly and courteous service. Love this place. We'll be back!!
one of the best Marocain restaurant that we have been . The owners are great .
owner, staff and food are wonderful. Everything is homemade and delicious.
It was a great experience! The owner spent a lot of time with us, helping our group of 5 decide on dishes that would allow everyone to sample and share. The food was excellent, fresh, spiced and seasoned well. We all really loved the zaaluk and the seafood tagine. I'm looking forward to visiting again soon.
The food was excellent and the service was wonderful. Highly recommend .
We love Cafe Baida. The food is freshly and passionately prepared by the owner and his wife. They both could not be nicer. We will continue to return and try to bring new guests to experience this neighborhood gem
Outstanding Moroccan cuisine with generous portions. If you take some home it's even better the next day! Try to get a table in the window for maximum people watching. The orange cake for dessert is killah!
Food was great. Owner on site. Checked tables and made us feel welcome. 2 in group were vegetarians and were able to find numerous tasty selections. Lamb dishes also were prepared well. We will be back.
The food had the usual spices, well prepared. The wine by the glass not good. The live belly dancer was a fun experience and the dinners seemed to join in the music and dancing
