This place has incredible food. One of the best meals I have ever had.
I think our waiter was new. We didn't see him much and he never brought a drink I ordered but billed me for it. The manager corrected the bill.

Our waitress while lovely, seemed ill equipped to handle her stations. I had to flag her down to order wine. (She never asked) Our cocktails took a very long time to get. (Dinner reservations were for 6:00 pm-arguably a busy time). We informed her that we had a 7:30 curtain and I had to track her down at 7:15 to beg her to prepare a check and cancel the coffees we ordered 15 minutes before. (She blamed the bartender). The service seemed chaotic. The two young men bringing our meals seemed challenged in terms of picking up our appetizer plates and replacing them with our meals.

Tried Baia due to proximity to SF Opera & performing arts garage. Delicious arancini & grilled vegetable plate. Plus large salad that was plenty for 2 of us, especially with dessert, chocolate torte was our favorite. Nut based Parmesan cheese was delicious, didn’t taste ersatz at all. Next time we’ll be more adventurous, our server said the lasagna & eggplant were popular. Extensive wine list, bottles & by the glass, cocktails & mocktails.
Service was very attentive, venue attractive, although music was too loud for our ears. Downstairs has barstool height tables. We chose a regular table upstairs which was comfortable. Tables well spaced apart. There are a few tables on the sidewalk along Grove st.
I’m not vegan or vegetarian but would heartily recommend Baia to carnivores.

We were glad to see that much of the original Jardiniere remained intact and the renovations were tasteful. The cocktails were tasty, but not very substantial. We had garlic knots with our first round, which were delicious and the portion was very large! Our salad, the Mysticanza,, was uninteresting with a sour dressing that added nothing to the vegetables. It’s only saving grace was the crunchy hazelnuts. We ended with the Rigatoni which was spicy and delicious, the pasta cooked just right. Portions were very large. I would definitely go back but skip the salad.

Beautiful atmosphere and easy parking. Super friendly service with awesome timing. Food was out of this world. Large enough portions, comfort food, you’d never know it was vegan. Adding to new favorite spots.

Haven’t had a single item I didn’t love. Staff was very accommodating when I told them I was running late for my reservation. Table service was a bit slow but everyone was very friendly and all other aspects make up for this and then some. Will definitely be back and highly recommend for anyone interested in a higher end Italian meal (whether you’re plant based/vegan or not!)

The food was not even average. It definitely felt like they hadn't tested the recipes. The flavors were really imbalanced. For instance, you could taste a really strong flavor of celery in the rigatoni, and you could taste a really earthy (not in a food way) flavor of old dried mushrooms in the mushroom pasta.

Service was terrible, even though the servers were really nice. Our drinks, salads, appetizers and entrees all came out within minutes of each other. We had to flag down the server for a second round of drinks. This was so disappointing.

Great restaurant! SO nice to have a menu that one doesn’t need to pick around to find what they can eat that is plant based. Baia is a pioneer restaurant and I hope others follow suit. There’s no need to eat animals!

We are so happy to have a vegan restaurant in Hayes Valley. We come up to the City from San Jose frequently to see performances at SF Jazz & SF Symphony. What a treat for us, third time in three weeks, and going again next Saturday. Can’t say enough about this great new place.

Staff was great and friendly. Service was great too. Appetizer and drinks were awesome but main dish which I had was too acidic , as we are vegetarian we prefer vegan food so we were excited to try this place, but won't go again for sure.

As vegans, we were excited to try this place, but probably won't go back anytime soon as the cost was too high for the quality and range of food they offered. We were expecting something like the Italian version of Gracias Madre, but the menu was pretty limited regarding entrees. The pizza was pretty good. The pasta, just OK. The Ceaser salad was excellent, but the special house salad was drowned in dressing and we should have sent it back. The garlic bread knuckles were also pretty good. If you just want a vegan pizza, a vegan Ceaser salad, and nice drink it should be fine for most.

It was our first time to have a dinner at BAIA and we all enjoyed the food. Especially the garlic knot! Wish they had more selections for spaghetti. But overall it was very pleasant dinner!

Great vegan Italian restaurant with pastas, pastas, and garlic knots which they run out within a few hours of opening so if you want garlic knots get there early. We have tried most of the menu items & we love it all. The menu does change periodically. The atmosphere is nice. They have creative alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks as well. Parking on the street. Make reservations.

The appetizers and drinks were great. We shared 4 appetizers -- grilled vegetables, mixed salad, garlic knots and impossible meatballs with polenta. Each one was delicious and we thought we had discovered a new favorite restaurant. The drinks -- both alcoholic and non -- were very good, too -- creative and fun. The entrees were meh. They were all fine but none of them sang like the appetizers. The service was spotty, too, but it seems that that is because of the shortage of restaurant workers in SF. When our waiter was at the table, he was enthusiastic and very nice but I think he was way overworked. There was a lot of down time where we wondered if we had been forgotten, but he, everyone on the staff, really, appeared to be working very hard trying to keep up.

Took a bit for host to figure out a table for us at first. Once seated, excellent service and food. My husband and I eat plant based, and it is so great to not have to pick and choose or ask for modifications when ordering our meal. The food is excellent and arguably a person not aware of the ingredients would be pleasantly surprised to learn that everything is vegan. Thank you, Baia! Now, can you please have a restaurant in Marin?!? Pretty please!

The food here was solid, the service and pacing left something to be desired. Granted we were outside, but there was zero though to pacing the meal and the food arrived before our drinks and we had to flag down a manager to order a bottle of wine. The food was delicious and creative with no loss of flavor an impact from the vegan focus. We three omnivores loved every bite.

We were so delighted to eat this magnificent vegan food after a full day of travel. The meatball and polenta and the wood grilled veggie appetizers were excellent. As was the Cauliflower Al Forno and don’t forget to try the Margarita Pizza! Yes. We ate a lot and all of it was delicious. Also, the service was over the top fantastic even though the place was busy. I haven’t had this kind of service anywhere in a long time.

I enjoyed my experience here. However, if you’re in a rush this might not be the place for you. It took a while for us to close out our tab. The server didn’t have a good flow of tending to their tables in a timely manner. We tried to pay our bill through the app listed on our check to make the process quicker, but the app only works for certain restaurants! And BAIA was not one of them lol. Might want to fix that or just remove that option altogether.
