Bahrs Landing Ratings and Reviews
Another great meal at Bahr's! Everyone enjoyed their appetizer's and entrees. Clams and Oysters on the half shell were wonderful and so fresh! The salads are huge and delicious! The broiled scallops melted in your mouth - the lobster was the best my father's ever had and the broiled seafood platter and crab cakes were as wonderful as always. One of our favorites- see you soon!
We had another fabulous lunch with great food, service and atmosphere! The scallops platter and the fried clam strips platter were both excellent - tasty and abundant quantity for hungry eaters. The atmosphere is always wonderful overlooking the marina and the Navesink River, and the nautical ambiance with adequately spaced tables makes for an enjoyable meal during which you can carry on a normal conversation.
Many visits to Bahrs Landing, never disappointed. The Oysters Rockefeller are the best, "Bahr none". I had the Fisherman's platter... excellent. My companions had the Chicken Francais and the Crabcakes. Both agreed... excellent. My companion visiting from Pennsylvania had the crabcakes, and said they were the best she ever had anywhere. Cocktails were well-made and reasonably priced - this is becoming rare, in that many restaurants are hiring 'bartenders' who are just kids out of college who don't know the difference between a Manhattan and a Rob Roy. The bartender(s) at Bahrs know how to make a drink. Great food, great service, nice atmosphere... we will definitely be back.
I've been eating at Bahr's for more than 50 years. Food is always great, service friendly, decor classically shore, water view spectacular (especially at dusk when the cruise ships go out and NYC glows orange in the distance), seating comfortable and everything spotlessly clean.
We were greeted at the front desk by a very well dressed pleasant woman, who also seated us at a window seat, overlooking the Navesink River. We ordered NE Clam chowder (Excellent), Raw fish platter consisting of Oysters, Clams & Large Shrimp (Excellent), Steamers (Excellent) and Fish & Chips (Poor); fried fish was over cooked & the steak fries were warm but hard.(Very disappointed) The service was decent, although server although pleasant, was not very attentive. Water glass not filled, courses were rush (served next course, before we finished current course) and table not cleared of prior course setting. When we were leaving the Restaurant, a young man thanked us for coming and an older man, although making eye contact, didn’t say anything as we bid them a thank you and good afternoon. Overall, due to the raw fish and steamers being excellent, we definitely would dine again and give the Restaurant another try on other points that were not so good.
Visited for Thanksgiving dinner. They had turkey, stuffing, yams, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, green beans, cole slaw and biscuits on the dinner. I ordered pecan bourbon pie and decaf. The food was very good. I was full. The interior overlooked the Navesink River. It was a tranquil setting, restful. The server was very enthusiastic and attentive. Definitely a good place for a meal.
It is one of my favorite spots. My father used to take us swimming there when I was little about a block from the restaurant. My husband took me on many Sunday rides and we ate there. Very relaxing on a small marina right on the water. Food is good and reasonable.
We always love dining at Bahrs Landing! The food is always wonderful and the service is always very professional, warm, kind, and welcoming! The ambience (both in the indoor dining room(s) and on the outdoor deck (during Spring / Summer months)) is always fantastic - cozy inside and beautiful outside - and the waterfront view is always spectacular (indoors AND outdoors)! We can't wait to return to this very special restaurant!!
a very good version of a NJ seafood joint, like a tourist attraction with swag shop and large waiting area for those oh-oh summer nights. No need to wait the night we went (cold and windy), the place is very clean and nice space between nice size tables.Surprised they had a full Oktobrefest menu, made deciding tough... Our waiter was poised and charming, the food was pretty good. A wee bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Only complaint was that our dinners arrived before our apps were finished...no excuses for this except they are probably used to turning tables, eat it and beat it...no reason for this on a slower type night, need better communication between the waiter/runners and kitchen. Overall, we shall return...
As always every time my friends and I visit Bahrs we are delighted with the wide variety of fresh caught seafood as well as special menus items like this months Octoberfest menu with German themed plates. Prices are good and the ambiance is great. Go and enjoy.
Its been 15 years since our last visit. We drove 75 minute from home to get there. We wanted fried and broiled seafood. We were not disappointed.. Good fresh food, water front. Famous red claim chowder, biscuits, very good calamari appetizer, and fresh grilled fish medley,, no room for dessert.
I had escargot for appetizer which was good not great and we had Oysters that were ok, but were not close to being cold enough...... For my main dish I had fried oysters that were probably the worst I every had and were soggy, and my wife had the broiled fisherman’s platter that believe it or not came out over cooked and ice cold which is strange but true...... the service was good but that just does not matter with lousy food.....
