The hostess was completely obnoxious - ok guessing it is because I made the reservation on Open Table. She sat us at a random table in the middle of the room - there were numerous empty booths set for 3 people (the size of our party) all around the edges of the room. We asked for a booth and she told us they were all booked. We sat there from 11:30-1:30 and all of them remained empty. Totally rude. The food was fine - I had croque monsieur that wasn't great but fine. The restaurant setting is beautiful. The brunch gets louder as the hours go by - the waiters blast the music to turn the restaurant into a dance party. A bit of a cheesy crowd made for funny people watching. I wouldn't go back based on the rudeness of the hostesses.
We (2) had their cheeseburger at $25 each, and they were the worst burgers I have ever had in my entire 82 years. Nothing was fresh, everything on the plate seemed to leftover from days gone by. French fries must have been cooked from ages ago.
I don't know how any restaurant of good reputation would serve junks like these. The huge restaurant was empty with only two tables occupied. Perhaps it was our mistake to go into a restaurant with only one table occupied during the lunch time.
Shame on you, Bagatelle!
Our waiter Charles was attentive the whole way threw our meal (even with the place being packed) and was very knowledgeable about both the menu and wine list.
We had a 10pm reservation, we arrived and the place was buzzing and the atmosphere only got better the later the night went on until eventually the place turned into a mini night club with everyone having a blast.
We'll be making a return trip very soon.
We did not have a good experience. First, our waiter was clearly new. Second, he was very "in our face" and annoying to the point where we needed to let management know. They did right by replacing him after he had ruined the fish for two that was ordered. The only redemption was that they had comped the meal that he had ruined, and provided us with a round of drinks. Thank you! Our take away was that for the caliber of restaurant, the entire meal was ruined and not worth the amount we had spent. I do not think we will return for a second chance.
If you want to get your ear drums pierced by loud house music, this is the place for you. Food was ok, but the establishment can't decide if wants to be a restaurant or a disco. The clientele was mostly guys with man buns and whorish looking women in short, tight sleeve dresses. The kind of people from Jersey who flood into the Meatpacking District every weekend in stretch limos.
Lovely spot in Meatpacking District. Perfect day for eating outdoors though road construction did make it noisier than we would have liked. Food was very good - we did a Restaurant Week prix fixe but the choices were plenty and prices seemed very fair for quality.
Will defintely go back and recommended to friends already.
Insanely noisy. The music just got louder and louder over the course of the night and we couldn't hear each other at all. Filled with awful, noisy people. It took way too long to pay the check and the food was just...fine. Not worth the hefty pricetag. Fish was dry and pretty bland. Bathrooms not well maintained and in general the decor felt rather passé. Not worth the time or money, even at restaurant week prices.
Came to Bagatelle for NYC Restaurant Week. Heard a lot about Bagatelle over the years, and I sadly, have grown to a time in my life where I don't think I'd be able to handle the brunch party anymore. However, I have heard the food and experience is still great, so decided to try it for dinner.
We had an 8:30 reservation for 4, we walked in behind a party of 3, who were seated immediately, but we had to wait about 15-20 minutes to sit.
Our waiter was very nice and attentive. The gnocchi was to die for! Everyone at the table also enjoyed the chicken entree who ordered it. Others also liked the crab salad. The creme brulee was good, but not the absolute best I have ever had, just pretty normal.
The ambiance began to change right at 10 pm as promised. The curtains closed, lights dimmed, music turned up and sped up. When the beat dropped, the house lights came on to drop in tandem with the beat. You know where the night is going after that.
Overall, definitely a good deal to take advantage of for restaurant week, but you can have a phenomenal lavish night out for the same price elsewhere on days that you don't get this deal. Doubt I would eat here again outside of restaurant week, but happy to check it off my bucket list. Will definitely make an effort one day to do brunch.
Restaurant was very subdued upon arrival for 1 pm reservation. The restaurant for much more active as the time passed.
The restaurant is open and airy with a clean feel given the white table clothes.
Did the lunch menu for Restaurant Week. The tomato & cheese salad wasg very good and refreshing.
The brazino was large in size and nicely cooked. The accompanying ratatouille was very tasty and good size portion. The presentation of the food was very well done.
The passion fruit cheese cake was very enjoyable and refreshing. It was less like a NY cheese cake in its consistency more like a pudding.
Service was very attentive without being intrusive.
It was lovely... except.... they ran out of cream brûlée... so we shared a mousse and I asked for the other one to go... we didn't finish the one we were sharing... so I asked them to put it in the box with the other one we paid for... when I got home all that was there was he half eaten mousse and I got shorted the other one... disappointed
Walking into the restaurant, it's a beautiful space. Smaller than I imagined but they have even rooms downstairs. The bright white walls and the fresh flowers give the room a great ambience. The food was absolutely fantastic. The entree portion, I had the Wagyu steak, was a bit small. Good amount of steak but only a small amount of veggies on the side. The service was VERY slow, especially for a Wednesday night. We sat down at 7 and didn't leave until 10. We were told they ran out of the creme brûlée I had ordered for dessert so we were waiting for half an hour before they told us that. But while visiting the bathroom my friend saw them with many trays of creme brûlée heading to the kitchen. We had to wait another 15 minutes before I was brought a lemon tart which was the only bad thing I ate all night. The crust was rock hard and there was almost no sugar in it. Just pure puréed lemon and the acidity was beyond belief. Overall an amazing experience but service needed to be stepped up.
