Family friendly agri-tourism in the heart of New Albany's Historic District. Built in 1900, the Baer Building's cellar is home to Floyd County's only winery. The tasting bar and restaurant are located on ground level with access to the outdoor patio overlooking the city's Bicentennial Park.

Winetasting is available at the bar. No reservation needed. Wine flights are available at seated at your table.

Saturday Nights often include Live Music from 7-10pm. Karaoke on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday of every month from 6-9pm. The patio overlooks the city's Bicentennial Park Summer Concert Series on select Friday nights during the summer.

This place wasn’t crowded at all, which wasn’t a good sign for 7:00 on a Saturday night! We were a group of 11 60+ year olds, so we asked to be seated in the separate room towards the back in the hopes that we’d be able to hear each other talk over the music that was playing in the open room. The separate room really didn’t help much since the walls are open at the top, and with the very high ceilings, the music still was very loud. We decided to go to the bar to order drinks because it was taking a long time for anyone to come to the table to take our orders. That didn’t really speed things up much because it seems our server was waitress/bartender/manager! She was very pleasant and doing her best and none of us blamed her for the slow service. They definitely need more servers! I ordered the pear/bleu cheese pizza, which I’ve had before, many years prior when this place was River City Winery. It was just okay…after 2 hours, I was ravenous, so I probably would’ve eaten just about anything! Overall this could be a really nice addition to the restaurant options in downtown New Albany, but they need to figure out the staffing, as well as a way to lower the sound level when there’s live music. I enjoy live music, but more as a background sound than so loud you can’t hear others talking. The restaurant itself is in a very cool old building with exposed brick, but it needs some tweaks to make me feel like I’d want to go back there.

Thanks for your input. I restored the started restoring the building in 2007 and have been here ever since. I created the Pear and Blue Pizza in 2010 with the help of Chef Ems. Nothing on it has changed, so hopefully that was an anomaly. I know the music in this building can be a little loud even if we try very hard for it not to be, so we keep the music consistent on Saturdays 7-10pm and Sundays 2-5pm only. As for the help, we certainly need it! It's been an issue since we reopened in 2021 and we've been actively trying to hire servers and kitchen staff ever since. We have a stack of applications and paperwork on people we've hired that have never showed up the first day. We never had any kind of issue finding help a decade ago.

We reserved a table and when we arrived, there was no hostess, no service. Asked two workers who did not help me out. The person behind the bar was busy with checking people out. We left.

I apologize for that. As the owner I was also waiting tables, helping at the bar, bussing tables and doing dishes in the back. Even made some pizzas. That was an extremely busy evening with the city's free Bicentennial Park Summer Concert Series going on outside next adjacent to our outdoor patio. We were certainly understaffed, but we had everyone working that night. We simply need more help and have been actively trying to hire more since reopening in 2021

Haven't been in @15vears. I had pizza back then,_it was good. After looking online at pics on Facebook, etc. 1I decided to try something else. 20 minutes for drinks and pretzel sticks. We came early to beat the rush. We might've been the first ones there. Another 30 minutes later, our orders were taken. The waitress exclaimed wow you ate your pretzel sticks fast. There were 3, and we were done 20 minutes ago. After my wife's salad and another 20-30 minute wait, our entrees arrived. My wife tried a special, pesto chicken pasta. She said too much sauce and small, rubbery pieces of chicken. She did not eat it. I ordered steak frites. Online, Facebook page, the pic had chunks of steak, like the Exchange. Wrong! It came out as a thin piece of steak cut into thin strips. It was not what I expected. I was hungry, so I ate it. It was ok at best, a little salty. I spit out 4 strips of gristle. I should have sent it back, the appetizer, left, and went to McDonald's for better food and service. After we finished, we sat for another 20 minutes, no check on us to see how we were doing. We threw $50 on the table and proceeded to walk out. I made it out, my wife didn't. We went back in and ended up paying $64 for a horrible experience. Pitiful

We literally have this entire visit on video and it doesn't corroborate your account of your visit. I like to give the customer the benefit of doubt but that's why we have video. You had zero complaints about your food until after you tried to sneak out on our server without paying your entire bill. We opened in 2021, so you couldn't have been here 15 years ago.

We had a party of 12 and I was skeptical we could get good service… boy was I wrong! Excellent service!!

The atmosphere and food were fantastic. Our server was very friendly. The only issue is they need more help. One or 2 servers for entire restaurant. Owner was cleaning tables. This did not take away from the quality of the food or wine. Very good.

It was a disappointing visit. We were seated for twenty minutes before being waited on. Another twenty minutes before we got our wine. Fifteen more minutes before “charcuterie “ was brought. Packaged cheese and meat slices, canned fruit. Server never returned to ask if we wanted an entree. Had to hunt someone down for the bill. It was not crowded so we have no idea why we spent 2 hours to get one round of drinks and an appetizer.

Sorry to hear that your visit was a disappointment. I know we had live music and a lot of bookings at 7pm but we were not that busy at 6pm. There must have been a communication issue between the servers on who was providing you service. I am a little confused on the packaged "cheese and meat slices, canned fruit." complaint. We don't have any canned fruit in house and all of our cheeses and meats outside of some shredded cheeses and pepperoni are bought in large bulk by the pound and sliced in house either by hand or mechanical slicer.

This was our first visit and we will definitely be back. Employees were friendly and helpful and we got to talk with the owner, which is always nice. Food was spot on worth the visit!!
