Great service. Good food. But definitely not the best Indian I have ever had . Some traditions and some trendy. . Pretty loud.

Located between Little Tokyo & Disney Hall, casual spot for Indian and Indian-fusion, busy but not too loud,
good service, good value. Good for before-the-theatre: park at Music Center, and walk here.

Simple yet artsy decor typical of many cafes and restaurants in DTLA. Menu is also cohesive and complementary representing many different tastes and aromas of the Indian subcontinent. The top to bottom menu experience lends itself to turn into a multi course dining experience without feeling too heavy at the end (even ordered a beer.) I would definitely reccomend either of the veg or non-veg samosas, the vindaloo, and the short rib curry. Will definitely be visiting again!

Lately the grilled cheese sandwich has large quantity of cheese oozing out & less bread making it a less likely item on the menu . As I come here for brunch specials mostly .

The food at Badmaash is quite good but I've had much better. Although the small portion size allows you to order more food, I wasn't happy with the value for money. It's exciting to see that the Mahendro brothers have put a lot of thought into their petite menu but it would be great to see some seasonal additions. My favorite was the Lamb Ghost Pepper Vindaloo; if you like spicy food, definitely order this lamb dish.

Biggest complaint is that the menu has remained unchanged for a very long time now. Food is of good quality throughout.

I live in the neighborhood and tried on two occasions to get a table as a walk-in. That didn't work. So I found myself dining single last week and made an Open Table reservation because I really wanted to try their food. The menu has changed since they opened but there are plenty of things to choose from. I had the Chicken Poutine, which was delicious, and provided a generous portion - enough for lunch the next day! The only challenge came from a patron who stopped next to my table to view/write/reply to something on her phone. She and her male companion were just hanging there for about 3-5 minutes, her smiling at her phone and him standing a few feet behind her awkwardly. Out of respect for my elders I didn't say what I wanted to say, I just let them hover until she finally finished and sat down. On the plus side, I had multiple servers which was helpful in getting my take away box and check at the end. I will try them again for lunch because the food was fabulous!

Rather small place, the menu was interesting. We were a group of six and I probably should have found a better place for us to eat and catch up, but I wanted to try this Indian restaurant. The bummer is our server suggested items, then forgot to bring them to us. Then he sold us on a dessert and they were out of it. I kept having to ask status of items and would have rather chatted with my guests, but felt obligated since I picked the place. Some of the dishes had great flavor, but rather small in size for sharing!

I had high hopes for this restaurant given the menu and reviews, but it's frankly underwhelming. It's a bit more high end than a Diner, but the price tag is way higher and not great value.

The food was so so. We ordered broccoli tandoor, which came out cold. The naan was cold and dry.

The portion sizes are small and I didn't feel the food was extraordinary.

The strawberry compote mango mousse was not great because the strawberry was way stronger than the mango flavor so you couldn't even taste the mango!

the drinks are too limited and a few items were also "sold out" and we were there for dinner at 6:30 pm!

We were there for a 60th birthday and it's not a place to go for a milestone. I think I would prefer spending the kind of money we did elsewhere.

My friend and I had a great experience at Badmaash! The waitors and waitresses were very nice, patient, and helpful as we meneuvered through a menu with dishes completely new to us. Seating wise, it seems best for groups of 2's, 3's, or 4's, but I'm sure they can make something work for larger groups if you let them know ahead of time.

The food was burnt. For an Indian restaurant the vegetarian and vegan options were limited! Imagine that. Being Indian, I was disappointed. The food and menu wasn't mind blowing and the prices weren't worth the meal. Overpriced and a blah menu.

After reading so many rave reviews, we finally made it to DTLA for this eclectic modern Indian fusion restaurant. We all enjoyed it, but we weren't really blown away. It was shocking on a saturday night the rice was so dry and the nan was over-baked and dried out. I'd recommend if you are in the neighborhood, perhaps just keep your expectations in check and enjoy a tasty meal.

The chickpeas were way undercooked In one of our dishes. Pointed it out, they took the dish away with no apology, replacement or refund. At this price level, expected more. Won't be returning.

Badmaash DTLA was a let-down after all the hype we had heard and read about the place. The food was quite bland and unexciting and the waitered service followed suit. Our waiter was neither energetic nor receptive to basic table needs as would be expected in a city such as Los Angeles and at such a highly-rated establishment.

Options for alcohol are fairly limited with wine and beer as the two options. Beer options are all local (California) brews which would be perfectly fine as there are many good options, however most all beers at the restaurant come in a can, which I find distasteful as it gives the beer a discernably metallic taste.

In conlusion, there are several components which make Indian food an experience for the senses: (1) fragrances, (2) flavour and (3) texture. For a place that is purported as serving "street eats" with "big, bold Indian flavours", Badmaash entirely failed to deliver. There are far better Indian restaurants in Los Angeles and I strongly encourage diners to invest their time and hard-earned cash elsewhere.

Success in the Los Angeles restaurant industry is highly competitive and generally quite 'tough'; Badmaash has a lot of work to do in order to attain the longevity it surely desires.

Badmaash is delicious. Butter chicken, samosa, lamb vindaloo, everything is so good. Service was really good. Got in and out quickly for lunch but never felt rushed. Price was reasonable, especially for how good everything was. Not surprised they made the LA Times 101 places we love list.

Came up from San Diego to visit a friend and has to try this place out for lunch! Parking was a breeze considering the location was downtown. Parking structure was a short walk. We were seated quickly for our 1230 reservation. Service was friendly and attentive despite the lunch rush. Our food was served quickly and fresh. We opted for the lunch specials and there was plenty to share. The ingredients were fresh and flavors were delicious (Tikka Masala & Saag). The only thing that I expected to be better were the much hyped samosas. They were good but the oil used to fry them seemed a bit old despite it being early in the day. Mango lassi was delicious and was a nice balance to our meal. I’d definitely be back again.
