The staff could not have been more accommodating when we asked to be inside, opposed to my request for patio viaOpen Table (my bad). Waiter gave each of us our selected red wines by the glass - thank you❤️ What a wonderful time!

Dinner is Italian not bistro or anything else. If you like sweet gravy/sauce this might be the place for you. Two wait staff for about 15 occupied tables, service was terrible. Food came out lukewarm when asked for very hot. Took one hour from order to get our food. Table of six and one bread basket, when asked for more bread told to take the piece out of the basket, and then they brought more about 15 minutes later. Bolagnase was tough and dry. Bill had a salad on it not ordered and reluctantly removed from the bill. If you want truly good Italian this is not the place to look. Other excellent options in the valley without spending your money here.

The food is always good but the service is not good. We've eaten there many times for lunch and dinner and have never had good service. The only reason we keep going back is because the food is so good.

We had a good evening at Backstreet Bistro. Garden salad was good but only got a thimble full of dressing on the side. I asked for a little more and got more than I needed. Caesar salad was well made and they even gave us extra anchovies on top. We ordered the eggplant parmigiana which was a large portion and delicious. My veal marsala was also delicious. I was hoping for a side of pasta but it came with mashed potatoes that tasted like it was flavored with bacon grease instead of butter. Couldn’t eat it. Overall the meal was good and the setting outside is nice. I would recommend it.

Very small and quaint inside. Patio would have been better, but due to the heat we were indoors. Service was a bit slow, since not to many people were dining. Once we got our
food it was delicious, and the bread was warm and very good. Will go again and try a
different dish I'm sure there all good.

Our server (Marie) was great! She went out of her way to offer suggestions from the menu, which were perfect for our appetites that evening and she was warm, friendly and accommodating. The food was good with big portions and the patio was comfortable. We will return!

My husband and I went here with a visiting friend for Sunday brunch around 11:30am. We all had a decent time there. My husband and our friend got the breakfast burrito, while I got the French toast. They ended up getting the burrito because they ran out of english muffins for they egg benedicts (sadly). Their burrito was very tasty and very different from the typical taco shop breakfast burrito filled with potatoes, bacon/ham and eggs. This burrito had black beans making it protein worthy. The French toast was okay. It had a taste of burned edges. Other than that, the French toast was good. They used a sweet batter but because of that burnt taste, it made my toast a bit bitter at some bites. The ambiance was great. Being seated by the window/patio area, it was nice seeing the outside. This restaurant is towards the start of El Paseo, so there was not to many people looking at you eat while they pass by the restaurant! The service was ok. We felt like our server was new because she did not know the menu very well (which was only 1 page) and because we had to flag her down for some condiments and the bill. When we got the bill, their mimosa was priced higher by $1 than stated on their menu. So that was disappointing. I did mention it to her and she was nice and removed the extra charges. Overall, it was a nice brunch but not the normal brunch buzz that we normally get from other brunch-known restaurants. Though brunch was not a hit for us, we do plan to try it out for dinner because maybe they may be more lively at different parts of the day.

Thought they did a nice job on our meals. Portion for the shrimp scampi which was done vey nice, including a side of veggies, and was just the right size. Husband had the seafood combo loaded with everything- that was a large meal but good for him. Surprised more people weren't there, but it is low season. I'd definitely go back next visit.

We had Sunday brunch at the Back Street Bistro on Easter and again on 4/30. Both times my wife and I both had classic Eggs Benedict and the food was very good each time. The hosts were helpful and allowed us to sit wherever we liked on their pleasant outdoor patio. Waiters both times were attentive and friendly. A basically good place for a meal out. We will return.

We were in Palm Desert for Easter and wanted a good breakfast, but not a fancy buffet or multi course brunch. After looking at reviews, we chose Backstreet Bistro and were very happy. I highly recommend the lemon ricotta pancakes. They were light and so different. The ham steak was thick and generous. Omelettes were good. Coffee and mimosas are at very reasonable prices. We will be back!

Six of us enjoyed our lunch, even though I had asked for outside on the comment section of the reservation. I'm not sure why they couldn't have just moved us outside because there seemed to be room when we got there. The hostess made a point of telling me that the request had not been made ( told me twice) when I ( nor any of the other women) did not make an issue of it. Anyway , we enjoyed our time there and will come back.

Have historically loved this restaurant! Food is wonderful. However, we have been there 4 times over the last 4 months and each time our dinners have come out so slowly that it has affected the enjoyment of the evening. The last time, it took half an hour to take a drink order, we had to remind the waiter about our appetizers an hour into being there, and dinner did not come out until an hour and a half or so after we were seated. Food was the usual wonderful, but we will not be going back anytime soon. Too bad!

 (Palm Springs)·Dined on April 12, 2017

When I booked this table I stated it was a 60th birthday celebration. This was never mentioned at all through the evening. The particular wine on the menu that I normally drink was not available, they did not have the ingredients to make any of the 3 martinis I would drink...not a great start.
The lasagne was a soggy mushy dish, the garlic bread was forgotten and brought out after we had finished the meal. The other two meals were satisfactory. As this was a birthday we were waiting for the desert menu, when the waiter delivered the bill and we didn't see him again. So we went else where to celebrate.
He was covering a lot if tables and did provide a second glass of wine at no charge for one person.
It was very disappointing as this restaurant came highly recommended to us.
We won't be returning.

The patio at the bistro is the place to be on a warm night. Although it is adjacent to parking and a street, the patio feels separate, special and pleasant. There was live music the night we were there. The prices are reasonable and the food good. While not inspired, the chicken was juicy and not overcooked; pasta was still sturdy instead of mush with bright flavors. We opted to split our salad and the chef did that for us in the kitchen--a nicety that is appreciated. They could up their game on some of the entrees and the place would pop.
