Backstage Ratings and Reviews
After many visits to Backstage over a period of time it is good to see that many of the features that keep me returning haven't changed, except for the better. The menu includes many unique food choices and much of the ingredients are locally sourced. Although I do not drink Backstage's selection of beers and wines constantly changes so you can never tire of trying something new. The wait staff is attentive and friendly and looks after you as if you were family. Highly recommend that you try Backstage whether before a show at the Warner Theater next door or when you are just out for a good dinner.
We were seated promptly, and our waitress came right away for our beverage order. We had small plates....one had mussels, one had a steak quesadilla, and we shared a plate of Brussels sprouts.....everything was delicious, and the "small plates" were generous servings. Our waitress was attentive. An enjoyable pre-concert meal. Not my first time at Backstage, and it won't be the last.
The waitress was very friendly. The service was slow it took forever to get waters for the table. They had plenty of help. Our wine was warm. Our food was room temperature, expensive. We received our bill before we we got our second glass of wine. I would never go back again and I would never recommend it to a friend. We disappointed!
I've eaten here with friends many times and the food is very good, but not exceptional. The only criticism I have is that I generally attend right before an afternoon opera and even though I have gone to the trouble of making a reservation, I still have to stand in line and wait. There should be a separate person to take care of those with reservations.
my wife & I have been going to backstage for a long time & enjoy it very much -the only problem we had ( including this past Saturday) was the length it took to get our food -this is not a reflection of our server in any way; I think his name is mike -he was great -but it took 45 minute's from the time we ordered our food until we got it - I realize it is busy on Saturday's, but this is not the first time that this has happened -but rest assured ;this will in no way affect our dining at backstage -we will most definitely continue dine & recommend your facility to friend's regard's Michael emery
We enjoyed our dining experience at Back Stage prior to seeing a show. The menu has many unusual and interesting selections at various price levels, so no complaints there. The food presentation was excellent. We even ordered a dessert....couldn't resist. The food was excellent, and the drinks, too. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a laid back atmosphere with good food and drink. And if you are attending a show at the Warner or Nancy Marine Studio, the choice for a pre-or post show dinner/drink is a no brainer!
Although the food was excellent the restaurant was unable to handle the crowd that came in that night, most of them for a Judy Collins/Stephen Stills Concert at the next door Warner Theater. The manager took $20 off a bottle of wine to soften the mess of the night but the service was ill organized and extremely slow. I can recommend Back Stage for the food but stay away if there is an event at the Warner.
We were traveling and found this restaurant on Open Table. If going that way again, I would return. The appetizer was great, local tomato with mozzarella cheese and balsamic vinegar. This is an app we really love and have often at many restaurants, this was one of the best. For dinner we had the chicken cordon bleu and the roast chicken. By far the roast chicken was better. The chicken cordon bleu had an unfamiliar taste which wasn't appealing and unlike any we had experienced in the past. The potatoes and veggies on each of the plates were good.
For dessert we had the apple crisp with ice cream and coffee, both were great as was the friendly service we experienced with all the staff we came into contact with.
The stars in my review should add up to a better experience, but the whole is LESS than the sum of its parts.
We arrived at 6:15 for a pre-theater dinner reservation. We were seated right away. The restaurant was not terribly full. We ordered drinks, and eventually they were brought to the table. All was well until we had to wait a very long time for our dinners to come out from the kitchen. Although our waitress was race-walking, it rook my flagging her down three times for us to get a refill of a drink and our dinners. It was 7:30 before they arrived, and we had an 8:00 curtain.
I think the food was pretty good, but we had to eat it so fast there was hardly time to taste it.
When I go out for a rather expensive meal, I expect it to be relaxing, not the adventure in clock-watching it turned out to be.
I would only recommend Backstage with the caveat that one must leave at least twice as much time as one normally would.
Finally, although we were there for 1.5 hours, there were only two songs playing in the background! They seemed to be on a continuous repeat. The second was "Alice's Restaurant" 4 or 5 times! Too much of a good thing!
Good management of the kitchen could probably fix the problems that are downstage center here.
The only thing was that it took 45 minutes for our food to arrive after we ordered it- this in no way should reflect on our server ( mike ) ; he was excellent- I know it was busy, & fortunately i had made the reservation for 5:30 so we had enough time, but next time might be different . But my wife & i have been going to backstage for a long time, and this will not change that- we love backstage.
First time ever going here, not the last! Food was flavorful, fresh and cooked to perfection. Cocktails were delicious. Service was fast and wait staff was friendly and attentive. I will definitely be coming back for sure! The quality of service and menu make this place worth the higher prices.
We visited Torrington for the weekend & ate dinner here before our show at the Warner theater. The staff was PERFECTION!! Friendly, fast, attentive!! Just the kind of service my husband & I like. But it wasn't pushy or overbearing!! The food was delicious & also served quickly! If we ever head back to Torrington, we would eat here again!! (We live near Philadelphia, it's not around the corner)
