Excellent!! We will be back!! Filet with crabmeat and the scallops over fresh pasta outstanding.
We had an exceptional dinner this evening to celebrate my husbands birthday. Food and service was excellent. Would highly recommend this!
Our experience was great and while I did not complain, and am not doing so now, the only thing that stoped my experience from being GREAT was that my steak was mostly lacking in flavor. Oh well, the Bourbon and wine was terrific. The service was just right and the ambiance was perfect.
Very pricey. If we didn't have the Kids First Coupon, we couldn't afford it.
Wonderful Valentine's Dinner. Menu was creative and delicious. Well paced with great wine pairings. Service was attentive and helpful. Not intrusive or too chatty.
Overall very good. The cheese plate had only 2 types of cheese and not much of it. Mostly toasted bread, olives and fruit. Kind of disappointed in that based on the name “cheese plate”. And the bread they served before the main course was extremely salty and we couldn’t eat it. Steak was amazing and service was very good. Great atmosphere.
Very disappointing seating as well as very poor service
Great service. Waitress Kristen was excellent. The porterhouse pork chop was tough and not very flavorful though. The Ahi Tuna was ok. Had better and worse. Great location and views. Moderate price for the value received.
Beautiful restaurant, Great Service, and Wonderful Food...,Thank you
Girls night out - Birthday outing
Staff was attentive and polite. Food was average. The lobster bisque was rather bland and the peppered papradelle with scallops was somewhat flavorless. Our party ordered three filet dinners all medium rare. One was perfectly cooked one was medium and one was served medium well to almost well. Deserts were ordered, Heath bar bread pudding and Creme brûlée and they were both fabulous.
Our out of town friends were wanting a nice atmosphere for their anniversary. They were very pleased.
We happened to have been seated next to an older 4-top that was quite loud. They were also in the back corner, so that acoustically anything they said was bounced back into the room, which amplified the sound even more. However, we had a marvelous meal, and very friendly staff, so overall, a most pleasant experience.
This place is fine but I would recommend other places to friends. Other than the view (if you’re lucky to sit where there are windows overlooking the river), there is nothing that really stands out enough to warrant the prices.
So pleasantly surprised. Was visiting Chattanooga and decided to go to art district and found this gem. The food was perfect!!! The scallops with pasta was amazing. The creme brûlée was phenomenal. The ambiance was warm and interesting decor with two fireplaces. It was a mansion converted into a restaurant. Next time we are in that area we will stop again!
While the restaurant was in a beautifully preserved mansion in a wonderful part of town and the ambiance was welcoming, luxurious and romantic, the attention to detail as a high end restaurant was lacking. From not having valet, not taking care of your coat, white napkins without being offered options, paper menus sitting on the table when we sat. The service was just ok. Wine glasses were not brought with our wine. The first course wine not removed. The wine sommelier didn’t come to our table to respond to our wine questions, I had to ask for a knife for my main course. And had to ask for sugar for my expresso. The food was also just ok. My salad included roasted chickpeas and cut up dried apricots that seemed like afterthoughts and didn’t blend well with the tossed arugula. The sautéd mushrooms were bland and seemed pre-cooked so also an afterthought. My main course was bland, cherry tomatoes had the tough skin. The flavor of the browned scallops was not rich and delicious like they can be. Heath bar bread pudding was excellent as well as the quality of the expresso. Great wine list and value. I’m being particularly critical of detail because Chattanooga needs to elevate their game in fine dining with such excellent establishments. I hope they improve.
We picked Back Inn because we knew it wouldn’t be loud and the food would be good... It is also very pretty, great lighting, white tablecloths.. A really wonderful dining experience.. I had the filet and it was excellent..
This place is beautiful & delicious! Rarely does my husband say that was worth every penny. He said that about this restaurant.
The food was amazing and the views were beautiful.
Food was excellent!!
This was our third year in a row to go to Back Inn Cafe for New Years Eve. This was the first year we have had a problem with our visit, and it really colored our whole evening. Our reservation was at 5:30pm, and the restaurant was pretty much empty. We were seated at a tiny table crammed in a corner, and my chair protruded into the doorway to the room we were in. It was extremely uncomfortable and I spent the whole meal worried that my chair was going to trip someone who was passing by. The sad part is that there was a table with a better view just behind us; I didn't request to be moved because I assumed someone else would be seated there immediately, but the entire 1.5 hours of our meal, no one was. I guess I'll just have to ask for a better table when I make a reservation the next time. Otherwise, our meal was very good- food was cooked perfectly, service was prompt and courteous, and we had a nice meal.
Nice atmosphere and great service!
All was good, food service, ambiance. Appreciative of Michael’s assistance with the wine and honoring coupon.
We came for dinner on Christmas Eve and it was a wonderful meal in a beautiful setting.
Great service, location and food. Massive wine selection. Great place for a date night.
My wife and I had a wonderful dinner. The atmosphere was perfect for a nice romantic dinner. Food was great, well prepared and the service staff was attentive to our needs.
Great choice and exceeded my expectations. I will definitely return to this restaurant.
Love this place - I keep forgetting about it and my wife told me "why don't we come here more often" - from now on, we will
Donna our server was wonderful. The food was average. We had the pork porterhouse and the ahi tuna. They were enjoyable but nothing special. Fried green tomatoes for an appetizer weren't very good. They have a huge list of wine to choose from.
Excellent food. Our server Andrew was great.
We ordered the Farro salad, lobster bisque and filets, everything was delicious! Our server was very attentive. We were seated in the sunroom which offers a beautiful view of Chattanooga. The Bluff View Art District is one of the best places to dine in Chattanooga.
Wonderful food, service & atmosphere-quickly becoming one of our favorites!!
It was my birthday. The service was excellent and so was the food. The staff worked around food allergies to provide the most enjoyable evening for my husband and I. We will definitely return.
We were in Chattanooga for the weekend and wanted a nice dinner. My wife is an artist and was in the area when she found the Back Inn Cafe. She made a reservation for us immediately.
We were delighted at the locale; I'm a rower and was able to watch the crews racing in the Head of the Hooch from the bluffs before dinner.
When we entered the cafe we were astonished. It was just like going to dinner at a friend's house! we were greeted and shown into the Living Room, while the maitre d' checked on our table. We were then shown to our table in the Conservatory with an awesome view of the river again.
Our server was attentive and polite and never too intrusive. The food was exquisite and extremely good value. The other diners were respectful and quiet, so we did not have to raise our voices to talk to one another.
I cannot think of when we have had a such a nice pleasant meal that wasn't in someone's home!
Excellent food and service and the view from the back deck was amazing!!
We had a lovely evening for our anniversary. Our server was knowledgeable, excited about the restaurant’s garden and food, and read our cues about the serving pace we wanted. The ambience of the restaurant itself was warm and intimate, and our food was very delicious and just the right portion.
My husband and I were thoroughly impressed with your service, food and restaurant. I loved the architecture of the manor. It was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back. Thank you.
Lovely restaurant. Very good service
