We had a great brunch before going to the theater.
We all had burgers. They tasted great. Service was excellent. Would effeminately return.
Had reservations to eat here before a show at the Opera House which is very close. We arrived early and took two seats at the bar instead. Bartenders were friendly and attentive so we had our meal at the bar too. I had the meatloaf which was tasty but very filling. My husband had the steak tips which were done perfectly medium rare as he requested. Small but decent selection of local beers. Decent wine options. Very convenient to Opera House.
Wonderful food, great atmosphere, and terrific service by Meghan. We'll be back.
Great service, good food and no hassle when we stayed at the table longer than we probably should have. We had selected very basic breakfast items, so it would have been hard to mess it up, but it was all good. The fruit was incredibly fresh, food arrived hot and the coffee was excellent. The price was extremely reasonable, though we did not order any bar items, so that likely helped to keep the cost low. I would definitely go back, and everybody in the party would do so as well.
Best brunch I’ve had in a while
They have mice running around and no one did anything about it
Food was good. Bar was backed up and they brought me the wrong wine. Other than that - very good experience.
We frequently eat here before the heading to the theater. The service is always friendly and the food arrives quickly. There is a good range of food on the menu. My husband really enjoyed the pork chop, but salads and burgers are also good. Priced well. Will definitely return.
The waitress was rude, short and unhelpful. She acted as if we were inconveniencing her. Other than that, great food.
Terrific experience. Our server could not have been more attentive and the menu was perfect for our needs. I had the Cuban tacos which were AMAZING. We had been told the place was "really loud" but this was not our experience at all. The ambiance is upbeat and enthusiastic but also pretty normal/people having dinner. I definitely recommend.
We went before performance at Boston Opera House and we had the best time. Service was quick, but we didn’t feel rushed. The waiter helped us with drink order and made dinner suggestions. The blueberry vodka specialty drink was super, and my sister in law liked her rum punch drink. The meals were fresh and had new twists on old favorites. I had curried meatloaf with mushrooms and my SIL had the salmon. Which she loved. Definitely recommend!!!
Went for a nice after work and drink with some dinner. Tasty burgers & fries with a few great drinks in a nice casual atmosphere.
The food was fair. We've had better here previously. Maybe it was an off night but the rice with the tacos was dry and crusty. Tasted like it had been cooked a few days ago and let sit. The turkey burger was dry and the coleslaw soso. The waitress called us "girls" which was irritating. Noise level fine, good for conversation. Location convenient but all in all do not recommend.
Our first night in Boston and we went because it was right around the corner from our hotel. It was a very pleasant surprise to find that it was an amazing restaurant. The waitress was fantastic, and her food recommendations were spot-on. The meatloaf was perfect!
The food was good. They had a children's menu that satisfied a picky eleven year old. Our waitress was great and helped ensure we arrived at the ballet at just the right time. I would definitely recommend The Back Deck for a great meal before the theater!
Very responsive device. Nice selection for a casual business lunch.
The service at Back Deck was always impecable. I, unfortunately left my leftovers at the restaurant, but it was wonderful! Stephanie was my server and Tim or Tom, the bartender answered my phone call when I let them know that I would be late for my reservation due to my Lyft getting in the an accident. They both comp’d an appetizer for my friend and I, and checked up on us without being too overbearing. I will definitely be back often and would like to give a special shoutout to Steph and Tom; thank you so so much!!
My Husband and I were literally 1 of 2 tables . There was like one other person at the bar. I was gifted a gift card to this restaurant and wanted to try it on our 9 year anniversary date. We both ordered the most expensive item on the lunch menu , a garlic beef sirloin. we were so excited because the price suggested that the food should be amazing! we both took a bite of the sirloin and looked at each other and laughed. nothing special at all. The beef was super bland. but whatever we still ate it and didn't complain. the girl waiting on us was super nice and attentive when she sat us, and then 2 young women came in an she sat them behind us. we could hear them asking her for her name so that they could review the establishment . we found this really odd and kept eating but noticed that all the attention was now being focused on these two girls. she never came to ask how everything was till we were practically done, and then my husband asked for 2 cokes and she only brought one. She then noticed mine was empty and said "oh did you want one too?" I just ready to leave at this point so i said no. She was clearly distracted because she must have felt like she needed to go above and beyond for the other table. moral of the story, don't only focus on the customer threathening to write a review. just provide good service to all and keep it moving
2nd visit to Back Deck. We have Broadway in Boston season tickets and had dinner before the show. The food and service was great again. Definitely should be on your list if you haven't been here
A great place to eat before the show we saw her at the opera house convenient to get to right next-door practically food was great service was fast and friendly would definitely go there again
We enjoyed our brunch at the Back Deck. The menu provided everyone with an option to their liking and service was really good. My omelette arrived but was not egg white, as requested. The Manager personally oversaw the correction and offered free appetizer or dessert took accommodate for their mistake. It was quickly remedied!! We enjoyed ourselves!!
We waited over 40 minutes for our brunch food, very slow kitchen. They said they were out of decaf coffee! How about a trip to the store to pick it up? Tiny slice of pie for $7.00.
Great option for pre or post theater at the Boston Opera House!
This was our third visit prior to attending a show. The food has always been excellent and prompt. The prices are reasonable and the waitstaff is always gracious.
We'll be back
We went there before a show. Service and food were great! We will be back for sure!
Had reservations for lunch in the middle of the recent Nor'easter. Our waitress was attentive even with the 4 of us taking a long time to order. Good selections on menu from soups, different types of salads, burgers, sandwiches. My cobb salad was excellent and generous with the chicken and avocado.
Great place before a show!
This is one of our go to lunch spots. and they never fail to please. This last trip, sandwiches w spicy fries, salads, and veggie dishes were all perfect. Waiter was attentive without being over the top
The restaurant is close to the theater so is a great place for a casual meal before the show. The restaurant was packed and food does take a little time getting to you, not terrible but something to be aware of if you are going to the theater. The noise level was extremely high so conversation wasn’t always easy. Highly recommend reservations. We only made reservations in the morning we were going and couldn’t get the exact time we wanted. Staff were great. Waitress was dealing with a lot of people but still very attentive. Will definitely go again.
Went before theatre. Waitress was great. Very conscious of time factor to get us out in time. Food was great.
Convenient for an evening at the theater. Limited menu but well prepared and delicious. Noise level was high and interfered with conversation at times. Extensive wine list . Have eaten here before and will again.
The food was delicious, the staff and manager attentive (but not intrusive). Seems like reservations are a really good idea - it filled up fast!
We went to Back Deck recently before going to the theater. We were looking for a casual spot that would be relatively quick. Back Deck came through. The service was outstanding! Good cocktail menu, and very good food. The eggplant dip was terrific. Highly recommended.
Very disappointed. The grilled salmon was frozen - dry and watery. We had old brown spotted avocados in our salad. The wings were over cooked black charcoaled only one side. The hummus eggplant dip tasted like cottage cheese. Loved the service and decor, that’s the only thing we liked about his place.
Solid food, and the serving sizes were large without going crazy - the sides were more than enough. Got the pork chop which was a good serving and the 'medium' cook was very good. Tender and not too dry. The sides - sweet potato and asparagus - were both decent portions too. The cornbread was good and one order could easily be shared by up to 4 people - it's too big for two! Had their "Back Deck Old Fashioned" which was good - nothing that special but it was a fine mix. It was good for a post-theater meal after the Opera House - right around the corner and takes reservations on the quarter-hour. Price is fair for Boston - not high or low. We'll go again!
Interesting, delicious, semi-comfort food. Good-sized portions and also small plates. Great for brunch.
Tom makes everything great!
Food was pretty good, really liked the ambiance
Food and Service was Great! Would recommend this place.
