We ate here before seeing The Lion King! Close to the theater and delicious. Will go again!
Perfect spot to get a bite before the show. Great, very knowledgeable wait staff. Drinks and food priced right. Not like everywhere else in the theater district. We will definitely come back.
Family night out.
Perfect pre show dinner
bartender very rude
Absolutely awful food. The worse food I’ve had at a restaurant.
We had dinner before going to a performance at the Boston Opera House. We chose the Back Deck primarily because of its proximity to the theatre, and were very pleased with the ambiance, service and the food. They had a traditional children’s menu which pleased our grandchildren, and the adult selections were varied. When we mentioned we were attending The Lion King our server made sure our dinners arrived promptly and had our check ready as soon as we finished our dinners. I will definitely return to the Back Deck the next time I attend the theatre. I highly recommend it.
Very good food and service did great balance of checking in on us but also not checking in too often. Went at lunch and the prices were reasonable, food great, and everything went awesome!
Attending Lion King
Had been looking forward to eating here but over all were disappointed. The waiter was fine and the setup of the place is fun but the food is were it is severely lacking. First we ordered a dish with no vegetable but it still came with it. The pork chop was fatty and the grill sweet potato was not cooked enough so they were very hard. The other dish of soup and a salad were both good but not remarkable. We saw a s’mores dessert on the menu and it sounded great. It took a very long time to get. Were told when we got it that the kitchen was backed up but oddly the restaurant was not very full. The dessert in the end wasn’t even very good. Will not be back to this mediocre place.
We had a reservation at 5:30. We got their on time and were seated. We ordered a drink as others filed into the restaurant as it was getting busy. Our waitress said sorry your drinks aren't here yet the bar is backed up. We received our beer and glass of wine a half hour later at 6:00. The food we ordered took 45 minutes and we received it at 6:30 (mind you we had a 7:30 show to catch) My husband ordered a burger and myself a turkey burger. He liked his and ate most of it but my turkey burger was awful. It was freezing cold and the cheese wasn't even melted on it. I wasn't sure if it was even cooked. The waitress got me a replacement but once I go that, I was extremely grossed out and lost my appetite. The waitress was very nice but no we would never go again. People that were seated after us got their food before us. I understand that a lot of people had a show to catch but I thought this was just crazy.
My daughters birthday
Excellent food, great service. The only thing that wasn't particularly great was the dessert. That's skippable, but everything else was really great.
It was great to have something close to the theater before dinner and we were in an out efficiently. The food was OK it was way too noisy and the coffee was pretty awful. But the service was good and we couldn’t beat the convenience that evening.
This was a fabulous location for dinner after going to a nearby theater production. Reservations were absolutely necessary, particularly on a Saturday night. We were seated immediately and the other 2 members of our party were seated when they arrived. Having reviewed the restaurant recently for lunch, we were just as pleased with our meals for dinner.
Great spot downtown for pre-theater dinner. Delicious food. Great service!
The food was delicious. One member of our party could not have cheese and the server asked if it was an allergy or a preference. An error had been made regarding the kind of hot tea served and the server was quick to correct the mistake which she herself recognized before actually serving the tea. I wanted bacon to be added to my chicken sandwich and it was easily added. It impressed me that these three things were promptly taken care of by our very gracious server. The open windows added to the atmosphere of the restaurant too! All in all, our adventure to Boston was terrific for the Back Deck was a great beginning to our day. The proximity to the Boston Opera House was an additional advantage.
This restaurant was near a conference I was attending. We were there twice, a dinner and a lunch... both were good and I like that there was a gluten free menus. Portions were nice sized and the homemade fries were very good. The pork chop was done perfect! I recommend eating there!
Enjoyed the idea of the glass panels open to the outside air, but the road noise could be quite loud at times.
Date night with ye old ball and chain before Kevin James at The Wilbur. Great night. Nice location for a decent meal. Food was good though it’s “look” wasn’t as appealing. Drinks were strong but the bar was a bit slow for a half filled restaurant. Overall I’ll give it a B+. Thanks
The servers are so friendly
Food was good and varied for brunch with the exception of the corn bread which tasted stale. This was my second visit the first of which was for dinner. Food for dinner was also primarily good but not consistent (eggplant appetizer was not flavorful at all). S’mores dessert was very good.
Definitely a noisy place, so not for an intimate date-night. We've had better servers. This one was thorough but not attentive. Probably the best time to eat would be when the theatre was not performing. Limited menu, not many appetizers, few burger choices.
Service was great as usual. The food was a bit disappointing this my aunt ordered a burger and there was green mold on the roll. They comped her meal of course which was appropriate and appreciated. The hummus I ordered was a bit dry but okay. We will be back but will probably check the plates first.
The food was good and we were seated quickly. It very much had the feel of being a tourist mill.
Food was good, decent prices, good service and overall good experience. I picked this restaurant for its proximity to the Opera House. Haven't been to downtown restaurants in years so this was a quick last minute choice. Only con was the noise level so it was sometimes hard to carry on a conversation.
We had the best waitress ever this visit. I hope to be able to sit in section again.
Opera House night
My daughter and I enjoyed brunch at Back Deck before seeing a play at the Opera House. This restaurant’s location was ideal and its kids’ menu provided plenty of options for her as well as the gluten free menu for me. Our server was very courteous and attentive without smothering. Eggs Benedict with spinach was excellent, I thought. My daughter was pleased with her grilled cheese. We’ll return here, definitely!
Turkey burger was pink and obviously undercooked...then 15 minutes to get another! Ordered a hamburger instead of waiting....oh well. All other meals fine. Service was a little casual and not so attentive. French fries are awesome.
Took my self to theatre and dinner. My go to restaurant in Boston for such an occasion
Server was outstanding and the Nonna burger was awesome.
Great place to a have a pre theater meal... staff is very good at moving you thru.... I love the burgers and salad! Nice cocktails too!
Great pre theater meal. Food was good. Good beer and wine list. Would definitely go back.
Amazing place and the staff is great!
My Cobb salad was mediocre, dressing was incredibly bland. My daughter enjoyed her steak tips and the appetizer wings were good.
We were promptly seated...it was extremely hot in the restaurant because the windows were all open. The waiter took our drink orders and we asked for a few more minutes, we placed our order and waited about 20 minutes, our waiter seemed to have way too many tables to manage...but he was kind...after our meals came, we basically never saw him again until we wanted dessert, he never asked if we wanted refills of anything which was weird. The food was okay, we went because of the gluten free menu as one of our diners was celiac. She loved her meal. Turkey burger was decent, def over cooked and way too much rosemary, the others all had beef they looked good, nothing really notable about it honestly. We ordered dessert, strawberry shortcake was very dry, the "Adult" pudding was just pudding, the s'mores were terrible and the brownie sundae was delish. Overall a pleasant enough experience. However I don't think I will be back
Service was great and fast. Food was delicious. Would definitely go again.
We made advance reservations. Out table was ready, our server attentive and pleasant! We were disappointed with our burgers. Seemed like frozen patties. Huge buns, more bread than burger. The salads were all drenched in dressing, and soggy. We won’t return.
We had theater tickets at the very nearby Boston Opera House. I wanted to get the car parked and eat nearby. There are some fancier places in the area, but we were looking just for really good food but nothing over the top. This place hit the mark perfectly. I had the lamb Kafta and it was excellent. My wife had a shrimp dinner and the other couple just went for a salad and burger. All of us were quite happy and would return there again -- especially if going to the theater.
