The best selling point for this restaurant is the location to the Opera House which we attend frequently throughout the year. The restaurant has been consistent up until this visit. Our waiter was wonderful. We waited a fair amount of time for an easy order - soup and Caesar salad, and Salmon Cobb Salad. The Salmon Cobb is my standard meal - I love it! Soup was good and Caesar was fair according to my husband. The Cobb was below standard; the avocado was black, soft and a meager portion; the bacon was not crisp as asked ordered and a good chunk of the salmon must have been left on the grill. The waiter was nice and when asked, he brought me more avocado. Big difference - a big piece, not mushy, good color and $2.00 extra. The waiter said that there is new kitchen/grill help. We went for an early dinner and the windows were open and the breeze was lovely. This has always been our go to restaurant, but this visit left us wondering if we will go back.

When we informed our server that we were heading to the Boston Opera House for the 1:00pm performance, he assured us we would make it on time & we did! Located a few doors from the Opera House makes the Back Deck a convenient spot. The menu included both breakfast & lunch foods which pleased our group.

We came before a show with kids. Our waitress seemed somewhat annoyed that we had children with us even though it was 11:30 in the morning. The food took a very long time to come out and was just Ok. Not everyone's food was even hot by the time we got it. I have been before and thought it was an Ok experience but was not pleased this time.

Went with my sister and nieces before seeing a show at the Opera House. They had a great menu for kids and adults. Food was great!

Convenient to theater district, and large open windows feel like dining outside - BUT drunken man outside the window, dropping the F-bomb at diners, really spoils dinner for families.

The food was good and the service was excellent. Having recently returned from Italy, I was happy to see they offered affogato's for dessert.

The food is always good at Back Deck, but the service, of late, has taken a negative turn. Be prepared to wait nearly 50 minutes for your order on a Saturday afternoon, and you'll have to flag down your waiter if you want a second drink.

Two weekends in a row my friends and I ate at Back Deck before a matinee.
The menu has lots of choices...I had the grilled chicken livers and loved them!
I hardly find them anywhere. Burgers were cooked as ordered. Potato salad was
good.

Last minute reservation near the theater, we enjoyed sitting by an open window and were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Broad selection for all appetites. Server was very nice but our table was "forgotten" a couple of times- had to hail two other staff before getting wine list then actually ordering and being served (well into our entrees). Despite this, a good meal and we will go back.

Had a tasty burger, gluten free roll, crispy fries. All agreed with my delicate stomach. My girlfriend had trout and said it was good. A bit noisy but v v busy on a Saturday night. Did I tell you they take reservations?

Bottom line- we left satiated and would go back sometime.

My only complaint about this place is that the wait is too long for food. I like the food and the cocktails, but the wait is always WAY too long, especially when it is not that busy.

Once again, the Back Deck was a success. Not only was the food fresh and promptly served, the service was outstanding. We arrive late and were in somewhat of a rush to get to the ballet at the Opera House. We informed our waiter of our problem and he promptly (and cheerfully) took our orders, spoke to the kitchen and had us our food to us in no time. Although we only ordered salads (from a brunch, not lunch menu on Saturday), the salads were lovely...and by the way, the food coming out to other tables, in all directions looked great. I will be back for a more relaxed meal at another time, and recommend others to do so.

Meal accompaniments were a bit disappointing--dry not very tasty hush puppies, broccoli tough and not cooked enough--but the trout and chicken were excellent.

Good, solid fare at decent prices. Gluten free options keep us coming back. Wish the service was more crisp - it tends to be painfully slow and servers seem completely disinterested. Ask customers soon after they sit down if they would like a drink!! Cardinal rule of good service - in 4 visits, it hasn't happened without s substantial wait. Service is the weak link that could be easily remedied for a better overall experience.

Terrible service - waited a long time for beverages and food. Server only came by to take the order, drop off the food and present the check. Food was not hot when it finally came and the bread for the burger was burned. Very disappointing

The green salad with salmon was disappointing. There was very little salad, it barely touched the sides of the soup shaped dish. The piece of salmon was very small. This one looked like a side salad rather than an entrée salad. I have noticed lately that Back Deck is lessening their food portions.

This place was great. I only discovered it because I had been looking for a cool spot for my moms bday which happened to fall during restaurant week and back deck was on a restaurant week list online. Anyways, it didn't disappoint. Cool atmosphere, great cocktails, food was phenomenal and the desserts oh man.

Went to Back Deck after the ballet at the Opera House. It's right there! The place was pretty quiet as it was 3:30pm on a Sunday afternoon. The service was great, the food delicious, and it's fun sitting at a window table and watching all the folks walking by. Will definitely go here again when attending shows at the Opera House.
