Back Deck
We told our waiter we were going to the theatre and asked if he'd keep our leftovers (As does that Salvatore's) and he said no problem. He never picked up our leftovers on our table so I went to him upon leaving to remind him - he said no problem. Told he we'd be back after the show - and we were but low and behold the restaurant was closed.
Why just not say "we can't"....???
Already recommended to my son, the sauce on the pork chop was outanding!
Best part of our dinner was Toscanini's ice cream. Our entrees were mediocre. Pork was dry, chicken had too much garlic and rice had too much butter or oil on it. I think the burgers are the best bet here.
We had tickets to a show at the Orpheum theater and made reservations for dinner on the way. We were seated right away and ordered our meal was ready in record time. It was delicious and service was great. A+
We very much enjoyed our meal. The beef skewers initially were undercooked (red, not pink, inside), but when I asked to have them cooked to medium well they came back perfectly cooked and very tender; couscous and Moroccan carrots were delicious. Service was prompt and we were in and out in under an hour (particularly appreciated as we had theater tickets).
Nice restaurant, upscale but casual. We went on a Thursday night. By 6:00 it was pretty busy with a young after-work crowd. The food was good but a bit pricy. There were some reasonably priced entrees, though. The service was very good. The restaurant is very close to the Opera House and the Lafayette street garage, so is a good place to eat before a show.
Location was great. Food was slow to arrive but it was before a show and I think the lunch crowd showed up all at once.
reservations was at 11:30. we were on time. ordered food. never got food. had theater tickets for 1:00.
walked out of resturant at 12:35. i don't think that waiter submitted our order to kitchen as everyone around us including people that came in way after we did had already eaten and left.
Although we were seated right away (we had reservations), it took almost 15 minutes for the waitress to arrive. I informed her that we were going to the 1:00 show (it was 11:35) so that we'd like to order now. We ordered two cocktails and two breakfasts. One cocktail came out, the other did not. When she did bring it (about 15 more minutes later) it was the wrong drink. Our food did not arrive until 12:30 (remember we had tickets to the 1:00 show). Needless to say we rushed through our meal. It was very good and the waitress was very nice. I just feel that you are not staffed properly for the Sunday Matinee folks. I definitely would not recommend for Pre theatre.
We went before seeing a play at the Opera House, we had 6 pm reservations, the show was at 8pm, it was perfect , the service was wonderful and the food was excellent!! Would highly recommend to anyone before seeing a show!!!
The food was so disappointing - cold fries, unmelted cheese on both my luke warm Reuben and my dining companion’s luke warm burger - untoasted roll on the burger - we had theater tix so no desire to mention it to the waiter A. Because of the time and B because the last time we ate there the food took so long we couldn’t eat because we had theater tickets - I’ve been in the industry for years and find it incredible that you can’t get right (or don’t care about getting it right) something as easy as a grilled sandwich or a burger or fries!
Great spot to go before theatre. Food is good. Not awesome but very good. Service was perfect. A bit slow to get drinks. But would definitely go back.
GREAT location if you are going to the Boston Opera House.
Food was very good, service good. Nice assortment of different kinds of food.
Would go back for sure.
We enjoyed a pre-theatre lunch today. Service was excellent- food was fantastic and memorable. Will definitely return again and again.
Perfect place before the movies! Food and ambiance is great. Thank you!
Server was super-friendly and service was excellent - menu had many options which was great. We were seated at the time we had reserved, enjoyed a delicious meal and had time to spare getting to the show. We had been unsure if we had time to eat at all - so I was very impressed with the whole experience. I would definitely go back - and would recommend to anyone going to a show in the area.
This place was very convenient to parking and the Opera House where we went to a show. The food & service were great!
It was a great restaurant before the show they had good vegan food choices
They had good healthy food
Seeing a show
It was fine as a place to grab a quick dinner. Noice level a bit higher than I would like but it was fine
I have never had a bad meal at the Back Deck. I often eat there before going to the theater and the staff are very helpful with getting orders in and getting the check to me in a timely manner. They never make us feel rushed but the do keep us aware of the time.
I would recommend it!
Needed a place to dine as close as possible to the Opera House given the inclement weather. Turned out to be better than expected. Not the largest menu but the food was tasty and quite reasonably priced. Would definitely go back
Yummy!! Everything was fresh and delicious
Back Deck provides good food and a welcoming atmosphere; I consider it my "go to" place when I attend theater in the area. I have gone there for brunch, dinner and to sit at the bar and have found staff to be friendly, prompt in providing service, and attentive but not intrusive. Quality of food and service are consistent.
Convenient spot for a pre theater dinner. Food was okay but the burger could have been cooked less and the fries more. Varied menu and a good selection of craft beer on tap.
Had dinner for 4 with 1.5 drinks each... dropped $ 188 with tip. Waitress was excellent. Food was average as my Salmon was overcooled. Good aelection of draft beer. Ill go back...
I made a reservation since I thought it may be busy for a weekday lunch but it really wasn’t. There were several large parties that came in while our party of 3 had lunch, and they were all easily accommodated. Friendly and fast service, and the food was good. Highly recommend the Brussels sprouts and squash appetizer!
We have been 3 times now in the last year for a pre-theater dinner. Each time we have had excellent service and excellent food. A great value and a great experience.
We really enjoy the atmosphere and relaxed vibe. It's our go-to place for pre-show dinner as a couple of with a group. The service is always friendly and excellent, and we don't feel rushed.
Very happy with our server.
My husband and I had a quick bite before heading for the theater on a Saturday night. Our waiter, Tom, was wonderful - attentive and professional. Food was delicious and portions perfect size. We’ll come again!
Seeing a show
Went to the Back Deck before the Saturday night show. The food and service was fantastic. Our waiter Tom was super friendly and provided wonderful experience for us. The total experience was wonderful. Will definetely be back.
The only problem is most of the desserts contain nuts.
Great go to pre theater. Love the themed menus that match the shows. Great for kids and adults.
Hate the drink refill charges. A bit cheap of a policy.
We took our girls (ages 7 and 4) here before we went to the theatre for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It was perfect for timing, menu, and atmosphere. Family friendly and good food selection for adults and kids alike. Service was fine but our server could have been a little bit more friendly. She never smiled and seemed like we were bothering her if we asked for something extra like straws. I'd go there again for a casual but good meal.
Wait staff was extremely good. Didn’t hover but was there when needed. As neither of us used the dip provided with the burgers she took time to ask us about it. I hoped she was going to pass along that information.
Fries were disappointing. Too much potato not enough fry! Salmon on my salad a bit on the dry side. Our waiter was great. I like this place, pre theater really works
I have been to the Back Deck many times...usually before performances at the Opera House as it is right around the corner. The atmosphere is fun as the decor makes you feel you are in fact on the "back deck." The menu is varied and I have never had a bad meal here. The drink menu is great too. Reservations are essential if you're hoping to eat here before a show. The waitstaff is always accommodating and considerate of the theater schedule. They're also flexible with the menu...swapping fish for chicken/dressing on the side...things like that. Last time I ate there I shared a delicious chocolate dessert with my friend...the best part!
great menu, informal and well served! kid friendly and country music ;-)
