About Bacco Ristorante
"When you pull back the curtain at the door of Bacco, you enter into a decidedly Italian world. Since it opened in 1993, Chef Vincenzo Cucco has been turning out delicious food, some of the best made to order risotto, pastas, etc. In all, Bacco is a top neighborhood restaurant and truly offers a meal to savor." -Michael Bauer, S.F Chronicle restaurant critic

Bacco Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
This place is always a treat and it just keeps getting better. The food is delicious and they really do an excellent job with seafood. the grilled branzino was perfect! There are a variety of pastas offered and all are quite good. The wine list offers some interesting Italian labels, not always well known.
Bacco is a favorite. A favorite for dates, birthday celebrations and family coming into town! My kids LOVE it. My extended family request it when in town. Just last week we went there with family 2 nights in a row! Went with one brother then the other brother wanted to go there too. :) Delicious! Wonderful service. The owner is really warm and welcoming. Just back from 2 weeks in Italy. The food is very authentic.
Truly one of the best meals I've ever had in SF. The staff were gracious, well-informed and helpful, as well as delightfully Italian ! Each dish had its own special twist on modern Italian cuisine; we especially enjoyed the eggplant crostini , the baccala and the short ribs with gnocchi . We will definitely be back.
I have been to Bacco numerous times and am never disappointed. The Italian menu is excellent. They have not changed their basic menu in a few years, but they always have a separate menu with specials of the day and that does differ. Service is friendly, ambiance is very nice. One of my favorites is the ravioli with a creamy walnut sauce. MMM MMM.
As usual, Bacco's is a pleasure. The food is always excellent. I am enjoying their rotation of specials, so there is always something new to try. It's just very well done Italian food. The staff is always friendly and professional. The patrons are always a nice mix of ages and types of people. There are invariably families, older couples, people out on dates. It's just a great place.
Inattentive service (one lovely but totally over stretched server for most of the restaurant). I ordered a special of the evening that was completely flavorless and dripping in oil. Even the panna Cotta dessert was sour and off. The restaurant was loud and conversation was difficult to hear. One of the worst meals I've had in a long time. I don't know how this place has the score that it does.
Always a great meal and service. Been to Bacco a bunch of times with friends and family and have never been disappointed. The braised octopus is outstanding and the pastas are always very well made from a perfectly cooked pasta to very flavorful sauces. The short ribs are very rich and filling and the risotto was excellent. Very accommodating to kids and will make a half portion. Everything is very reasonably priced.
I like this neighborhood restaurant for its unpretentious style and great food. We wanted to go someplace where we could all talk without yelling-- that is a great feature here. But there was an endless loop of brazilian music that was annoying the -- so much italian music to choose form-- someone should recommend a playlist for them. As well service was very slow -- but once we got served she was super nice and professional. I think they needed another server on Friday night. Maybe they were short staffed. Bottom line, the food is lovely and dependable, and it's nice to support a neighborhood business.
one of their signature dishes- the rigatoni with sausage, peas and tomato cream sauce is heavenly. I also love their string bean side dish. lovely wine list both by the glass and bottle.
waiters are just lovely. been there many times and will keep going back!
Our food was very good. The grilled squid was tasty. The presentation of the Eggplant and Burrata appetizer, while attractive in a martini glass was difficult to eat properly. The pastas were fresh and well prepared. Both the Corvina Sea bass and the European (Branzino) bass were excellent. The service while friendly was slow beyond belief. 3 hour dinner. We witnessed other tables with a male server being much better served. One of the smallest tips we have ever left.
