I eat vegan because of health concerns. At the end of a long week, I wanted my boyfriend to have a meal I knew he would enjoy -- Italian. But as vegans know, Italian food is traditionally not vegan. In spite of this, Bacco made a pasta off the menu with roasted garlic and vegetables, and it was delicious. I also had the orange salad.
We were seated right by the door, so as new groups came in and were waiting to be seated, they mingled right next to and behind me. It was quite distracting especially with the group of 8 that was hanging there for 10 minutes. We made the reservation a week in advance so I thought we would get a nice spot. There was a 4-person table left free that was more sheltered from the storm of ppl at the front door, but that must be reserved for a larger group, I thought- or else they would have sat us there. I was annoyed that the the next couple through the door was sat at the 4 person table.
The wine that the server recommended was mediocre. It was the priciest in the Super Tuscan category, the category I had said I was interested in.
However, the food was the saving grace - it was great. Lasagna with béchamel sauce, octopus salad, meatballs- all excellent. Only complaint was that the meatballs could have been larger.
Bacco is our family's favorite restaurant in San Francisco. It has NEVER disappointed us. The food is consistently outstanding and interesting also. It seems that everyone whom we bring there becomes a devoted customer as well. The owner is gracious, hard-working, and very welcoming. Cannot wait to go back again.
We had a wonderful executive group dinner at Bacco Ristorante. The staff was great and attentive, the owner was with us the entire time and was very welcoming as well. I love that she's been the owner for 20+ years and really likes the neighborhood. It was a welcoming change to the busy and very business-oriented restaurants we have around us on the peninsula. I want to bring my family here now!
This place is always a treat and it just keeps getting better. The food is delicious and they really do an excellent job with seafood. the grilled branzino was perfect! There are a variety of pastas offered and all are quite good. The wine list offers some interesting Italian labels, not always well known.
Bacco is a favorite. A favorite for dates, birthday celebrations and family coming into town! My kids LOVE it. My extended family request it when in town. Just last week we went there with family 2 nights in a row! Went with one brother then the other brother wanted to go there too. :) Delicious! Wonderful service. The owner is really warm and welcoming. Just back from 2 weeks in Italy. The food is very authentic.
Truly one of the best meals I've ever had in SF. The staff were gracious, well-informed and helpful, as well as delightfully Italian ! Each dish had its own special twist on modern Italian cuisine; we especially enjoyed the eggplant crostini , the baccala and the short ribs with gnocchi . We will definitely be back.
