A friendly neighborhood restaurant with good Italian food and wine.
Excellent food and great service in an elegant yet relaxed setting. Very warm and inviting atmosphere. We have been coming here for many years and always have a great dining experience. Grilled calamari, risotto and tiramisu are standouts.
Bacco is still our favorite Italian restaurant in town.
This is a great place for dinner! Terrific food and staff and delightfully quiet so conversation is easy. Highly recommended!
A fine Noe Valley restaurant where we had dined before. Since then, the prices have significantly increased but the quality has remained.
Patrons reserving through Open Table should, however, be aware of the restaurant's policy of sending customers with reservations to tall tables in the dark wine bar section, especially at peak hours. We were initially offered a table in this area of the restaurant but declined since it seemed a less than comfortable spot for spending a long, casual evening with friends. The hostess informed us that the Open Table confirmation form for Bacco advised of such an eventuality, and when we checked, we found the warning, which we had not previously noticed as it appeared inconspicuously at the bottom of the first page of the form.
After arriving early, we then were obliged to wait for twenty or more minutes to be seated at a standard table in the main dining room.
The restaurant was unbearably loud, hard to hear a conversation among the four of us. Our waiter smelled heavily of cigarette smoke, on top of being pretty brusque and unfriendly. We are new to the neighborhood, and we thought it might be a great "regular" spot for us. Not so much.
Excellent service and authentic cuisine.
I always enjoy Bacco — its food, ambiance and service never disappoint. Thank you!
Although Bacco is considered by us to be a neighborhood restaurant, we have taken many out- of-town friends there and they were equally impressed as we always are.
Great food and very attentive happy owner. Authentic Italian in a comfortable atmosphere
This is my "go to" place for a special evening out with my husband and remains at the top of my list for Italian cuisine.
The food was great. We had the radicchio and arugula salad, lasagna, thin spaghetti with mini meatballs, and the pork chop. All cooked to perfection. For dessert, we got the panna cotta and the caramel gelato with expresso. It was all great. We'll be back.
Been here a few times now since moving from Scotland to San Francisco last year. No complaints. Food good but usual (for San Francisco), over inflated wine prices.
lots of good choices for dinner, nice atmosphere, might be a tad noisy for some. Went for a birthday dinner and was a bit surprised that no desert was offered.
Food & service were terrific. Sadly the noise level is very high, especially when it is full or nearly full.
Good wine, good food, good service - what else can you ask for from a restaurant.
Service was excellent. Anti pasta was delicious, main good. Waived cork fee when we ordered two more bottles. Stay open late for us to finish coffee and desserts!
We had a delicious meal, everything was perfect, especially the homemade pasta. The wine the waiter suggested was also a hit. We don't get many chances to dine out without our baby and it felt special and romantic.
I hadn’t been to Baccos in many years since my last experience wasnt great but it was really nice this time. I had lasagna -loved it! The service was attentive but not annoying and the environment is pleasant. It’s a great neighborhood Italian restaurant that also has a wine bar. I’ll be back for sure.
We brought some out-of-town visitors to Bacco and they declared it their best dinner in the city so far! The service was warm, friendly, and knowledgeable about the food & wine. We also very much appreciated the kindness of the complimentary taste of Port to end our feast.
Excellent food. Finely prepared. Adequate service but (on a Friday night) rushed because restaurant was full and busy. Good location. Relatively easy parking. High noise level when full
Waiter didn't know menu and after returning from kitchen he still didn't have an explanation for sauce. Way Too noisy to hear anyone. Got one small pat of butter for four of us. Had to ask for more butter and bread. Couldn't find waiter for check. Seated near door and was very very cold. Both table and chairs rocked. Bathroom musty with dead plant. Not enough room on table. It was my friends birthday, I was embarrassed to have taken her there.
Lovely , tasty , nice ambience, quiet so you can have a conversation
Great food, lots of variety for every kind of eater. Lots of delicious veggies and pastas. Service was friendly and efficient and everyone seeemd to be Italian! Fun neighborhood spot.
This is a wonderful local restaurant. The food is excellent; interesting Italian cuisine, not just the standard rigatoni/ spaghetti dishes. Eggplant mousse with burrata was superb! Very nice ambiance and friendly, helpful staff willing to talk about the composition of the dishes.
Great Noe Valley neighborhood restaurant. Very good food and an energetic, knowledgeable and friendly wait staff. My only complaint is that the music was too loud and made hearing difficult.
Food was good. They were understaffed, and having computer troubles. I’d give them another try.
A great place to share, so you can enjoy all the course of a traditional Italian meal.
Felt so welcome! Like family. Great establishment, been around for 26 years, good food, nice atmosphere, looking forward to returning!
Bacco's is warm and friendly…..The owners and staff make you feel completely at home (sort of like going home for dinner). The ambience is perfect for experiencing the delicious/fabulous food that they serve with special attention to presentation….It's a restaurant that makes you feel completely at home….I would go back often…..
Took my kids (11 and 7) here for a Saturday dinner out, they were perfectly quiet and well-behaved, nicely dressed. Waiter looked at us like we were aliens. Forgot our olive appetizer. Cheap pour on the glass of wine. The calamari in the squid ink pasta was overcooked and not spicy at all, as advertised. Kids liked the meatballs, which was a plus. But $14 for plain pasta with butter. Sheesh. I get that you think you're too cool for kids, but you're not. You're a mediocre neighborhood pasta place. Get over yourselves. Next time we go to Lupo.
Food was not served as hot and there was a bit of a wait for the check after our table was cleared.
The prix-fixe menu for Valentine's Day was great. Reasonably priced at $65. We had a nice quiet table in a corner by a window. Helpful, friendly staff.
Wonderful service. Mario was amazing! The food was all excellent and the wine exquisite.
I eat vegan because of health concerns. At the end of a long week, I wanted my boyfriend to have a meal I knew he would enjoy -- Italian. But as vegans know, Italian food is traditionally not vegan. In spite of this, Bacco made a pasta off the menu with roasted garlic and vegetables, and it was delicious. I also had the orange salad.
We were seated right by the door, so as new groups came in and were waiting to be seated, they mingled right next to and behind me. It was quite distracting especially with the group of 8 that was hanging there for 10 minutes. We made the reservation a week in advance so I thought we would get a nice spot. There was a 4-person table left free that was more sheltered from the storm of ppl at the front door, but that must be reserved for a larger group, I thought- or else they would have sat us there. I was annoyed that the the next couple through the door was sat at the 4 person table.
The wine that the server recommended was mediocre. It was the priciest in the Super Tuscan category, the category I had said I was interested in.
However, the food was the saving grace - it was great. Lasagna with béchamel sauce, octopus salad, meatballs- all excellent. Only complaint was that the meatballs could have been larger.
All the staff were very friendly. Had agood dinner. Happy with my veggie pasta entree. Nice neighborhood spot.
Great for sharing. The only way I know to be able to handle all the excellent available courses (it IS Italian, after all).
Hidden gem away from the hustle and bustle.
