Bacchus - A Bartolotta Restaurant - Milwaukee
This was a fun date night restaurant. Pricey but it's worth it in the ambiance and service. We were there on a busy night so service may have been a bit slow, but everyone was very polite and eager to please. This was also the Bartoletta restaurant with the most vegetarian options. Good cheese plate too!
We've been here many times and the food didn't wow me at our most recent visit. We had an awesome server and it's always a nice restaurant but I don't think we'll be back for a while.
Another fabulous restaurant in the Bartolotta group. We have been to all of them and would consider this one the most elegant of the bunch.
Our waiter and the som were wonderful. The food was tasty and well presented. The ambiance was tasteful and good for a variety of occasions.
Unoriginal ambiance and menu. Food not prepared as ordered.
The wine list was very good. We found the dinner menu limited and stagnate. The specials were a welcome addition and, for the most part, priced reasonably, but the Steak for Two at $120 was a fail. All steaks were sliced when served which we do not appreciate. We like to see the full cut ordered upon delivery to table. Some of the starters were better than others. Service was attentive at the start and lagged noticeably upon delivery of the entrees. Our meal for 3 was over $500 and was not up to that standard.
This is my favorite restaurant in Milwaukee, and a reliably good place to bring foodies visiting from out of state who don't know that there's excellent fine dining to be had in Wisconsin. I'm incredibly difficult to please when it comes to steak because I want it to be tender and juicy but also completely cooked. Bacchus has never let me down in that regard. The only thing that can make this place better is if they added oysters to their menu.
For this particular meal, my table was very impressed by the fact that in spite of a hectic Dec 31 dinner seating, the service was nearly as good as on a regular night. Definitely must visit when in MKE.

The food was perfectly prepared and the service was outstanding! Our waiter was well versed in the menu and gave excellent advice to my dinner partner when asked his opinion between two selections. My fillet was a perfect medium rare and my guest had the Black Sea Bass which she found to be terrific. There was a full house but we had no problem conversing, the ambient noise was very subdued. I highly recommend this establishment!
Top notch from the time we arrived until we left fully satisfied, may I add. Delicious cocktails at the bar with engaging staff. Appetizers, soup, salad, entrees and dessert were all superb, as was the team that attended to us on a busy Saturday night. The recommended wines for our entrees were spot-on perfect. My new favorite fine dining restaurant in Milwaukee!
We were entertaining an old friend from Chicago who was a very successful restauranteur. Our choice for dinner needed to have delicious food, impeccable service, and relaxing atmosphere. Baccahus was the perfect choice! The octopus appetizer was outstanding, pasta Bolognese was perfection, and crepes Suzette with Uplands cheese filling showcased the chef's dexterity with sauces, as well as an award winning Wisconsin cheese. Thank you to the Bacchus team for another memorable meal.
This is so far the best restaurant and best dining experience we have had in Milwaukee. If any restaurant is to be considered for Michelin candidate I would sincerely recommend this one. Nice atmosphere, nice seating environment, fabulous cheese selection and the waitress Amy was very upbeat and amicable. We enjoyed chatting with her and she made excellent recommendations. We had foie gras and grilled octopus for appetizers; scallops and filet mignon for entree. Everything was delicious. We were too full so we had to skip dessert, despite the fact that menu was so attractive. Definitely would recommend this restaurant and would like to visit again.
Fabulous. Food and service are always outstanding
We were celebrating my husbands birthday and after dinner going to the theater. Service and food were exceptional! Would definitely recommend it!
The restaurant is beautiful. The service was great - only mishap, the waitress mixed up the take home boxes and the rest of my $110 steak went to my friends house.
Speaking of the steak, got the porterhouse, the filet was cooked great, the strip side was rough and overall the whole steak was not seasoned. Disappointed. The cheese app was great as was the seafood dish my friend ordered.
It’s a one and done for me.
An amazing overall experience. Ask for Nick as your waiter, fantastic service. Delicious filet mignon and wonderful craft cocktails. Arguably the best meal we have ever had. Even though we had a gift card my wife and I both agreed we would come back for a special occasion, though the prices are high they are so worth the cost.
This was my first time back to Bacchus in a few years. We all thought the food, service and wine were excellent. I had the Tomahawk pork chop which was excellent, a friend had the sea bass and another the salmon. All very good. The Sommelier was very helpful. A very enjoyable experience.
Went to Bacchus for a business meal after not having dined there in several years. The food was outstanding--much better than I'd remembered. The white pear salad was very good, the scallops were fantastic, and the banoffee dessert was delicious. The Riesling I had by the glass was excellent too. My dinner companions had similar reactions, and we all finished all that was on our plates. The servers were excellent, but the service was very slow. Although I enjoyed the company of my fellow diners, we were seated for about 2 hours for 3 courses.
We found this gem of a restaurant on Open Table while visiting in Milwaukee. We were seriously under-dressed in that we came from our daughter's college basketball game in jeans and t-shirts. However, the wait staff was very cordial and not at all off-putting about this. We chose the tasting menu with the wines to go with each course. Fabulous food, great pairings and nice small portions so that you could try many things. I highly recommend this restaurant for a one time event, a celebration, etc. We were a bit early and thus had cocktails in the bar first -- absolutely gorgeous drinks, fun watching the bar staff work and found the bartenders to be equally friendly and fun.
Absolutely a wonderful night out. Bar tenders vary outgoing and knowledgable about drinks. Waiting staff was just as good. Perfect romantic night for my wife and I.
Fantastic meal; highly recommend the chef 5-course.
What a great place to celebrate my friends 40th birthday. The wine list had at least 400 wines to choose from. The service was too notch and the food was outstanding.
Great food, exceptional service and a historic location make this a perfect destination for a special occasion or anytime. Great wine list too.
We tried the tasting menu and I was incredibly disappointed. The pumpkin soup shot and the homemade Bolognese were delicious along with the extensive wine list. But after a 5-course tasting menu that ended in the most disgusting panna cotta I've never tasted, I hated spending $250 on one meal that wasn't worth it at all. The food didn't live up to expectations.
This may be the best restaurant I’ve ever been to. Ordered the Filet and Duck Breast with the octopus as an appetizer. All were equally delicious. The wine and drink selection are more than what I expected. The prices for drinks were exceptionally reasonable considering the environment.
Food was very good but the service was atrocious, definitely not what you would expect from a fine dining establishment.
Everything was great as usual.
Elegant and enjoyable but the food was not hot enough and portions were quite small for my husband’s dinner.
Great service as usual
Tried the Tasting Menu with wine pairing. A couple dishes were good. The rest were fair.
We’ve come to Bacchus in numerous special occasions and have always found the food service and ambiance outstanding. My wife enjoyed a wonderful cut of filet perfectly prepared Ed. It was amazing. I enjoyed the trout which was also wonderfully prepared with a touch of culinary creativity we’ve come to expect. We also enjoyed a very nice beet salad which had a great seasoning that made it a unique treat. Both my wife and I enjoyed dessert and the restaurant prepared a special dessert for us for our anniversary.
Only disappointment was the menu was quite thin in terms of options . Not sure how often it changes, but need to expand. Having said that, the dinner was excellent, just need more options.
Great service. Great food. Try the cheeses.
Restaurant is great for a special occasion, but can also be casual.
I little louder than I expected. Food was amazing, service outstanding. Wine list is a little overwhelming for a novice.
Everything was amazing.
Celebrated out first wedding anniversary with your 7 course meal. The food was fantastic. Our wait staff was on point. Great restaurant, will celebrate here again!
One of the best restaurant expiernece I've ever had! The food and hospitality it amazing!!
I am never disappointed. The chef's cut for two is a classic meal of healthy portion size that is prepared absolutely perfectly every time. A nice crust on the meat and decadent sides. So fabulous!
We had a wonderful experience at Bacchus! The wait staff was incredible and the food was fantastic! My husband wanted to order a second NY strip entrée to take home! A real gem in Milwaukee!
