Bacaro Kitchen & Wine Bar f.k.a The Devine Affair

We came here to celebrate our friend’s birthday. Several ladies commented the spaghetti sauce was tasteless and the chicken panini didn’t taste good. One positive comment was the salmon on the lunch special was good. Not many choices on the lunch menu. Our waiter was not very experienced, but very nice.
Thank you so much for your review, we are sorry to hear that your experience was not up to the level of our usual standards. We feel that we do our best to offer a wide selection for both lunch and dinner by offering the entire menu, along with a small selection of lunch menu items for those who want smaller portions and sandwiches. Please reach out to owner Bill Loveday if you have any other feedback or questions, we hope to see you in again soon!
The old Divine Affair restaurant has changed ownership and is now named Bacaro. They have an extensive list of wines and champs as well as a Sunday brunch menu they are trying out. Their Kale and Potato soup is amazingly delicious. Definitely a must try for a starter.
The menu has some new additions from their talented chef that I think anyone will find something they will love. During their brunch, they even have an amazing guitarist who plays live music and makes for a very soothing background to an already enjoyable ambiance. Most importantly, for the west side, it’s a local business and restaurant that we don’t have an excess of, so we as a neighborhood should definitely bring them our support and patronage by giving the new ownership a try!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! The Bacaro team is delighted to hear that you not only enjoyed our delicious Kale soup, but that you had such a great dining experience with us as well. We are working very hard to deliver good food and great experiences to the Memorial community and we're thrilled to hear such positive feedback. We look forward to seeing you in here again soon!
Meatballs were perfect as was the Caprese salad! We enjoyed the fried calamari and mussels in white wine sauce too. Pappardelle Bolognese and Spaghetti Carbonara were al dente and full of flavor. Ended the night with delicious Tiramisu and Chocolate cake! Looking forward to coming back again soon!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your dining experience with us at Bacaro, our fried calamari is definitely a delicious staple here. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
We had the eggplant and it was absolute outstanding ! We were waited on and loved the whole dining experience
Hi Tracy, thank you so much for your thoughtful review! The team here at Bacaro Kitchen the menu is delicious and definitely worth a try...or two! We hope to see you again soon.
My wife and I had not experienced 'The Devine Affair' so we tried Bacaro as we for looking for Italian food. We split chicken parmesan and a caesar salad, and really enjoyed our meal, along with a glass of wine. Service was good and attentive, and we plan on returning to this neighborhood restaurant.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review. The Bacaro team is glad to hear that you enjoyed one of our traditional Italian dishes. Next time you visit you should definitely try out our Italian-inspired Sunday brunch. We hope to see you and your wife in again soon!

A great place with really good food. The wait staff is attentive and friendly and the owners are wonderful people. We love going here for dinner, but they have lunch
brunch, and a late night offering too.
Hi Ted, thank you so much for your generous review. We here at Bacaro are delighted to hear that you not only love our dinner, but enjoy our new Bacaro offerings as well. Next time you are in here for a Bacaro late night, be sure to ask for a champagne sabrage (champagne sabering)!
It was all very good and the staff very friendly. Very friendly and they did not rush us or hurry us out.

Not enough food. Small portions, with no options for more
Wine was good, it the noise level prevented some of us hearing the
presentation put on by the wine company rep

We typically plate smaller portions with our multi-course wine dinners, but we appreciate your feedback as we plan for future events. Delightful neighborhood restaurant in West Houston where the food was unexpectedly awesome with great professional servers. Can’t wait to go back

Had been before the change of name and menu. Was very pleasantly surprise with the "bar bites" that they offer. The food was excellent. the staff very attentive and the wine list impressive for such a small Wine bar. In all it was wonderful and with all the selection one can spend a lot or not. Will be going back for dinner and lunch frequently.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! The team here at Bacaro is very happy to hear that you had such an outstanding dining experience with us. Next time you come in, you should definitely try the Polenta Cakes on our "Bar Bites" menu, they are delicious. We look forward to seeing you back in here soon.
Fabulous food and great service.
We went here for a team lunch. We were a bit early, but our table was ready for us. The food was overall good, and the server was very attentive.
For starters, we ordered the charcuterie and cheese board, and we all enjoyed everything on that board.
I had the Frutti de Mare with shrimp, scallops, calamari and mussels. All the ingredients used were fresh and cooked very well. I liked that there were more proteins than pasta, and the sugo rosso was spiced just enough to give that kick.
We ordered the Italian cream to share. The cake had a little bit too much coconut flakes to my liking, and it overpowered the flavor. Other than that, the cake was good.
All in all, our collective experiences were good. We all agreed that it was a good choice, and I personally would like to being my husband here since we're both transplants from NY, and it is always good to find restaurants that remind us of home.
I liked the decor and the menu much better when it was Devine Affair.
First time going there. Food was quite good! However, service was spotty, slow at times, they forgot to order our sides so they came out way after the entrees (they did comp the sides as a result). We will most likely go back to give them another shot, but unless the service experience is better, we won’t try a third time.
Me and wife went on a date and we really enjoyed the environment and the staff. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for intimate dinner.
A great neighborhood restaurant...food is consistently good and service is friendly.
The new makeover is quite nice. Cozy feeling.
The meals was excellent. Continue
. Nice ambiance and attentive service. Entrees were delicious. Perfect place to celebrate our anniversary
Great food and fantastic service... A must go to have a great meal. Very romantic if you want to take your spouse or a date.
Lovely ambiance but the food and service were just okay. The food was also a bit salty, regardless of the dish.
Met Bill and his family, the new owners. This was our first meal there any it will soon occur again.
A foot note: if you have a favorite wine, BYOB. Just pay their corkage fee.
Went on a Saturday evening with my boyfriend to celebrate our anniversary and the food was amazing. The ambiance was nice, Jazz was playing and the restaurant is beautiful inside. It’s as if we reserved the place to ourselves! Food is nice and fresh, the chef makes it and it is to die for!!! 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking to celebrate an anniversary or just go out to a nice dinner.
Excellent service! Very attentive. Food was very good. The best filet I have had in a long time!
The poblano soup is always spectacular and the walnut crusted flounder was wonderful. We had a great time.
Went for Mother’s Day brunch. It was a pre-set menu so was a bit disappointed when they had run out of the salad option and one of the dessert items when our options were already limited. The staff was polite and apologetic but would have liked them to make more of an effort by comping some of our drinks or offering an off the menu item. After requesting they did make us a house salad to try and compensate for not having the kale salad option, which I did appreciate. Food overall was mediocre. The pork tenderloin was dry, the fried chicken had more batter than chicken, and the chocolate cake was quite dry. The mimosas and orange juice were good.
We are sorry you were disappointed with your experience. The restaurant has not traditionally done brunch so we did offer a limited menu and misjudged the estimate of preferred selections. We will be starting a regular brunch this Sunday and will offer an a la carte menu with a wider variety of selections. We felt that we had asked what we could do to compensate for the shortfall, I would love to have you try us again and ask for me so that I can extend a consideration. Bill Loveday - Owner
First time at restaurant. Great wine list, great food & service. Planning on going back.
Andrew, was an excellent server. We enjoyed our visit.
I attended a wine tasting with dinner pairings. The food was so amazing! The wine tasting fun & nicely paired with all courses.
Sorry that the business has been sold.
Highly recommend this place. I had the Mahi Mahi special and it was fantastic. Tomato basil soup that my wife had was the best she said she ever had.
Great food. Great service. Perfect date night setting.
So special was our lunch experience. True dining enjoying friends.
Beautiful restaurant, great food and service !
Live music in the evening
Out first time to this devine hidden gem. The service & food was perfect as a celebratory dinner for my birthday with my daughters. The mussels with the lemon butter sauce as an appetizer were very tasty! I had the blackened salmon with gulf shrimp & it was incredibly delicious & fresh. My daughters ordered the basil scallop risotto & shrimp puttanesca. The Tiefenbrunner Pinot Grigio was the perfect wine selection. Food portions were generous & we went home with leftovers. The new owner stopped by our table & fortunately the chef is staying the same. Will be back!
I was meeting with a friend and we wanted to catch up. The restaurant was quiet and allowed us the opportunity to discuss some business and catch up personally. I ordered paradelle with a meat sauce which was presented very nicely. My friend ordered the eggplant parmigiana which was a large portion and he said was very tasty.
Our waiter was great! He appeared periodically, just when we seemed to need service, and he did not disturb us, allowing us to linger.
The Devine Affair is a nice neighborhood place and definitely worth considering if you want a nice meal and don't have want to travel 30 or so minutes into town.
Food is always great. One of our regulars.
We had a wonderful time out at The Devine Affair with friends. Great food, atmosphere, price was reasonable highly recommend.
We returned with pleasure, this time we brought five additional guests with us. Our group of friends includes a variety of likes and dislikes as well as drinkers and non-partakers. The drinkers enjoyed the wines both the couple we brought (BYOB) as well as the ones purchased. Everyone ordered to their own tastes (we may have had one repeat order) and all the appetizers, as well as the entrees received rave reviews. Chef Dean met us upon arrival (always a nice touch) and several people commented how much they like it when the chef steps out to say hello. Hint: if you have a group the small area to the left of the entry door allows you to be set apart which helps with the hearing etc. (people watching is minimized however). My last comment is that the revised menu is a plus sort of invigorating the tried and true items from the past.
Very nice dinner date. Lovely place to have dinner and celebrate our 29th Wedding Anniversary.
