Loved Bacari and what a great central location! The server was excellent--a bit busy but she knew how to work the crowd and keep us happy. Great food. Very eclectic menu and I loved my Bloody Mary

All of the Bacari restaurants are great noshing experiences. Good food, service and atmosphere. This original location is no exception. On the night of my last visit, I stopped in with a friend at 9:30 after seeing a movie. The crowd was light, and the service was brisk. Kudos to our server, Dakota, who was extremely helpful with wine selection and charming to interact with. The food that evening was slightly below expectation. Lamb stuffed eggplant, curried cauliflower and mushroom pizza were outstanding as usual, but Mac and cheese was under-salted and not nearly warm enough, and the normally delicious scallops were "just ok" and not very flavorful (although the presentation with the pea purée was good). We will definitely return and not write off the location, and hope to find it back "up to snuff" on our next visit.

I've been to Bacari twice, once at the beginning of an adventurous Friday evening, and once at the end of an adventurous Sunday afternoon. Both times Bacari was a perfect element of the day, marrying relaxed ambiance with terrific food and a strong list of libations. The small plates, especially the proteins, are savory and at points exceptional, the wine list is one of variety and nuance, and the vibe is a perfect manifestation of LA's upscale yet relaxed and casual feel. Recently, after a hot afternoon at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, Bacari's sparkling rose sangria and burger both refreshed and energized us. The food was both tasty and photogenic, the wine was complex, and the late afternoon sunlight coming through the windows was idyllic. If you're in this particular part of LA's downtown, go.

This was my second time here and I will be back. I love the small plates. Great for trying new items and sharing. Our server was very attentive and nice. Parking can be challenging, but I have managed to find street parking. It's great for brunch. Bottomless mimosas always get my attention. It's a small place but I think it is worth trying. Good food. Great atmosphere.

Can I give 6 stars? The food is delicious and there are plenty of options but the servers are over the top friendly. I came for a quick dinner with 2 adventurous diners. We ordered 8 plates which was plenty for the three of us. Thanks to the server for suggesting that we start with 4 and then add on if we wanted more.

I had my going away party there with a group of 15 people. They accommodated us very well & our waiter josh was awesome!!! Small portions but for the price really well done & tasty. The open bar for 20 bucks was killer!!! Super cute, quaint inside. Thanks so much Bacari we enjoyed it.

Everything about Bacari was aggressively mediocre. From the unfocused menu to the slow, lackadaisical service, to the execution of specific dishes, I was underwhelmed at every turn. Not the worst small plates joint, but it seems to cater to the naïveté of the nearby USC crowd with its watery sangria and uninformed service.
The glazed pork belly was genuinely delicious and I would recommend it if you go, but one dish alone doesn’t quite save the restaurant from coming off as half-baked.

Our group had a lot of fun. There is free parking in the back and some street parking. We lucked out in both places. The Open Bar Happy Hour is a great deal. The Brussel sprouts were really good and ordered multiple times at our table. The pizza was ok, but the crust was too done.

As people who work in the food/service industry, my friend and I were extremely disappointed by the service here. The food and ambience were decent yet our experience was ruined by the facts that:

- they clearly forgot 2 of our orders after we waited over 40 minutes
- didn't admit or apologize for it after we reminded them
- had the nerve to try and rush us out of our table (despite our reservation and that it was barely over 1 hour since we started eating )

We made a reservation here for the early evening and ordered wine and 4 dishes and expected the service to be a little better for the over $70 we paid for small portions. We ordered our food around 6:20pm yet around 7:30/35pm, one of the servers, who wasn't even our original waiter rushed us out. We could tell he was getting antsy about a group of 4 diners outside so he picked on our table and asked us to relocate to the bar while we were in mid-conversation because he needed to put 2 tables together for the new party. We did not see him ask any other parties to move. We were not even plan on staying for over 2 hours as we had a show afterwards but we very well may have wanted to sip our drinks or order more food at the table we reserved. I could understand this more if our food actually came out on time and if we spent well over 2 hours sitting at a table barely ordering any food but even so, this was absolutely not okay and a big NO for any restaurant/cafe/service industry. You might ask people who just walked in if they'd like to sit at the bar until a table opens up but you should NOT ask paying customers who made a reservation, already sat down, and ate food that they received LATE for about an hour to move. I wish I had gotten the name of this male server/host because I do not want to say all the service was bad. The ladies taking our order and filling our waters were kind and attentive yet this last server (tattoos, brown hair-Fri evening shift) seriously needs to receive more training.

Food was great except everyone got their dish at a different time. Restaurant was small and service was horrible. Coming from someone who works in the industry ... I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed and understaffed, but it’s pretty ridiculous to be sitting down for 15 minutes without being greeted. Had to wave down a waiter just to get the order started and every time needing anything, like a refill. Has potential, but will not try out again. Way better places in the area.
