   We always have the BEST time at Bacanora. Each time better than the last, it’s my favorite date night spot. I’d put it over a steakhouse any day. The food, the drinks, the music, and the fun energy from the staff makes me feel so relaxed and welcome. I truly believe anyone who says it’s overrated either doesn’t appreciate the thoughtfulness that goes into the food or doesn’t want to spend the money. Come hungry so you can try as many dishes as possible!

   Hmmm. After reading all the hype about Bacanora, we finally got a reservation after waiting four weeks. Can’t say it lived up to the hype. First, the ambiance. Very small restaurant, maybe six tables? And eight barstools. The music was crazy loud! We could barely hear each other. We were greeted nicely and chose to dine at the bar. The service was good. I had a version of their margarita which was pretty good. My husband is a beer drinker but no beer was listed on the menu. He asked and was given the choice of two beers. Drinks came about ten minutes after ordering. We decided on the steak tartare appetizer. It was ok, not bad but nothing special. Portion was ok for two to share. After we ordered the appetizer, our server asked us to order the rest of our meal. Felt a but rushed because we hadn’t decided but we figured it out quickly. Guess tht they restrict diners to ninety minutes to keep everyone moving along. My husband ordered the short ribs. They were very thin and extremely sweet! As if they were brushed with agave! He also had a side of beans which he liked. I had the mussels which were good. The air was ver smoky, as the kitchen was open. We left feeling very stinky; my hair and clothes smelled awful as did his. Honestly, it was ok. Just ok. Can’t see returning when there are so many other wonderful restaurants in town. The menu is very limited and I don’t want to smell badly after a dinner out.

   The food was fantastic. It was very very loud inside, too loud for any conversation. I would give it 5 stars except for several remarks made by our server noting we needed to be out the door in 90 minutes. These remarks started before we received our drinks and ordered dinner. Not conducive to a relaxing dinner or for us to be open to ordering dessert. This has been noted in many other reviews on many websites, but apparently management is ok getting one-time customers instead of regulars. Comments were especially unhelpful as we arrived at 515 and the place was just about empty when we left at 615 (before our 90 minutes were up). In spite of comments, staff was friendly.

   Great food and service if you can get a reservation. It’s a tiny space with a nice bar. The chicken and the short rib dish are not to be missed!

   Daniella our server was amazing!!! Took my mom for early Mother’s Day celebration and the server was friendly and accommodating to their first time there so I wanted to give her a huge shout out. In terms of food, wow! The chuletas are a must get! But the bean dip was a very pleasant surprise. The drinks are also amazing!!

    Best in AZ, menu is amazing, embered elote is a classic, now served with bone marrow if desired. Bacanora is the king of all restaurants when it comes to mexican cuisine with parental roots, but new flare. Never sleep on the cocktails here either, and never skip dessert here.
