Six of us enjoyed a lovely time at Babushka. This was a return visit for two of us and a new experience for the rest. Everything as always was great. Starters included the borscht, salads and Palmeni all of which were great hits. Entree’s of stroganoff, stuffed cabbage, pierogi’s and chicken were all excellent. We did save room for some of their amazing homemade cookies which are not to be missed as well as whatever special they might have. Really wonderful family feel and service it is truly a unique and special place in a city of a lot of cookie cutter dining options.
Absolutely love this place. High marks for both food and service.
We dine here frequently.
We went on Valentine's day, the environment and service are nice. however, the average waiting time for each dish is 30 mins, by the first hour we only had one appetizer. Don't go there if you are hungry.
We'll definitely go back on a normal night. Just tough with a Pre Fixe menu in that not everyone liked everything served. Maybe an idea would be to have 3 or 4 courses but with a choice per course. The food people liked was wonderful!!!
If you want Russian food, don't go on Valentines Day. But the French inspired food on Valentines was delicious.
Valentine’s Day a day early and very memorable
I adore Babushka! My friends and I often have lunch here as the food is delicious, and the service is very friendly and attentive without being overly bearing. The environment is very classy. This time there were several large parties so the noise level was higher than normal. Normally it is very quiet.
I had no idea what to expect. The food was EXCELLENT! We had Piroshki's, Pâté, Borscht, Pelmeni, and Stroganoff; ALL of which were superb and beautifully presented by an attentive and friendly staff.
Tonight we celebrated my son's 12th birthday here. He wanted to try something different than the norm, Benihana or the like. I found this sweet gem on open table. From the outside looking in, it was quaint, simple, and intimate. Walking in I checked in with the hostess told her of my reservation. We were seated right away. Literally no wait time! Score! We all went in with an open mind as we all had never enjoyed authentic Russian cuisine before. I mean aside from my home made stroganoff. The waitress (whom, forgive me, her name escapes me now) was super nice and had some really great recommendations for us new comers. I think we ordered just about everything she recommended for us. We also had a complimentary dish wich was this little square duck piece that was super flavourful! We were pleasantly surprised as well as satisfied with every purchase that was recommended to us by our waitress. My only regret was not taking pictures of the food! 😞 The plating was perfect. The ambience was perfect and surprisingly not as loud as I thought it could be in such an enclosed space. In fact I believe we were the loudest ones in there due to my fussy/teething daughter. Many apologies for that. The food and dessert was perfect. My boys gave it a 10 of 5 they would like your restaurant to be in our regular restaurant rotation. 🤷🏻♀️ I guess we will be back! See you soon!
Service was outstanding; food was so fresh and delicious. Wonderful ambience
Our second visit and it was as good as we remembered. Food and service was lovely. Family owned and you get a true taste of modern Eastern European food.
We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. All the food was very good and presented extremely well. Service was also great.
A Russia Restaurant is hard to find
and most people have never been to one
This one is very good, the place itself, atmosphere
Service quite good
will come back maybe for a special occasion
Will stay on my list as a very good experience
It took over an hour for them to serve the main course. The servers were constantly apologizing saying the restaurant had a large party and was busy. They did bring a couple of small items for us and were trying to sell additional courses. Sadly, it seemed the problem was with the chef and kitchen staff not getting the food orders processed in a timely fashion. The food, however, was outstanding!
It could be a top flight restaurant if they get their kitchen service in order!
Excellent food, service. Sound level was great, they had the forethought to use acoustic tile. This place is a find. Russian deli in back. Don't let the shopping center appearance and age throw you off. This place is over the top delish. Found this place as i was looking for a Russian dessert for our book club. Loved the pate, chicken kiev, dumplings with a wonderful sauce. Prices very reasonable.
Very good food. Excellent service. Prices a tad high. Vodka selection is great. Martinis were a bit short, had to have 2. For what they lack in decor they make up for in the food and service. You can tell this is a labor of love. Everyone should try this place.
Awesome service and fantastic food! Will come again!
As always, flawless!! Chef Zoriy Malkov is amazing. I share the gift of this gastro gem with my business colleagues when I'm in Walnut Creek.
Fantastic !! One of our favorite places !!!
Food, service, TOP RATE !!!!
Excellent Food and Service - a lovely time. Highly recommend. Will go again to try more items on the menu
Great food with creative and unique menu. Great friendly and knowledgeable service. Worth a return visit!
Delicious in every way! Fabulous service, so spotless and lovely. The glassware and silverware shined, the tablecloths pressed and starched to precision. The food was delicious, served piping hot and the flavors were wonderful. This is a gem of a restaurant in WC.
I highly recommend this restaurant. The starters, soups, and entrees are 5 Star. We especially liked both soups on the menu, the liver pate, the peroshski, the dumplings, and the beef stroganoff. The server was personable and professional. Good wines too. We are definitely going back.
Delicious food I had the Stroganoff. The meat was so tender it melted in my mouth and the sauce was also delicious. My husband had the rack of lamb which he described as “the best ever.”
We enjoyed a unique cuisine that was well prepared and well presented. Flavors were deep and rich but the food did not feel heavy. The beef stroganoff was exceptional as were the vegetable piroshki. Service was excellent and the recently renovated room was very comfortable, well lit and spacious. The Hungarian and Croatian wines were very good and reasonably priced.
Russian and Eastern European fare, elevated. Really excellent. Finish with the brandy flight!
A wonderful place to have a quiet conversation and try authentic Russian food. Good food, great service.
It was my second visit to Babushka , and the food is delicious and service is very good as the same experience as my previous dining experience. My favor cuisine are chicken Kiev, and the puffy pastry with citrus carrot by side, and the beets salad. I would go back there for dinner again.
Excellent service and delicious food! Decided to try this restaurant and it delivered.
This was our first but certainly not last dinner at Babushka. The lovely amuse busch was an early tip that this meal would be special. The specialty cocktails were a nice accent to the appetizers of dumplings and a lovely eggplant dip. The mains of stroganoff and cabbage rolls were traditional dishes presented with a modern twist. They were truly well designed, prepared and presented. And please be sure to save some room for the dessert especially the honey cake. Service was friendly, helpful and attentive. This was a real treat and we look forward to returning soon.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Bay Area. The food is consistently delicious.
This restaurant is close to where I live and have always wondered about eating there. It was such a pleasant surprise. I had beef stroganoff it was excellent. They have a nice selection of east European wines to try. A group of friends try a restaurant we have never gone to, once a month. I took the opportunity to finally try this one. Will return.
Great customer service and excellent food. Great for birthdays and/or special occasion.
Great food and excellent service. A very fun and tasty evening.
Excellent Russian appetizers, main dishes and dessert. The piroshki are so good, and the stroganoff is the best.
Chicken kiev, beef stroganoff, peroshkis, kavaas, and duck all tasted exceptional. First time there for a birthday celebration. Prices are on the higher end but totally worth it. They also serve rye bread with butter on request; also really good.
Sneaky good spot - unassuming but solid in every way that counts!
Amazing restaurant and great food from pickled appetizer to borscht soup we were thrilled with this local choice... First time here but won’t be our last..
I had wonderful cabbage rolls and dessert was chocolate mousse with berries on bottom..delicious! All in all a perfect meal..
Our waitress was a delight and explains everything to you... my friend and I are gluten free and such a wonderful experience and many choices for us..Thank you..
Babushka is a delightful, neighborhood restaurant with an almost hidden location in a secondary shopping center. The light and interesting Russian entrees and wines are lovely. I highly recommend Babushka for either lunch or dinner. Service is also impeccable.
We loved Babushka Restaurant. The server was gracious, friendly and wonderful! Food was top notch. Will definitely return and recommend to friends.
