Babel House London
Step into this beautiful 19th century townhouse restaurant named after the modernist Odessan novelist Isaac Babel and see where the journey will take you.
Using only the highest quality seafood bought over from Pryvoz market in Odessa. Meats & fresh produce, with a contemporary twist on recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation infusing the rich cultural heritage of the area and its six bordering countries. This is complimented with a vast selection of wines and bespoke cocktails to recreate a gastronomically enhanced Black Sea culinary experience where time does not exist and dinners drift off into the late evening.
We welcome you in to join us on a journey of the Black Sea at Babel House.
The food was outstanding
very moderate pricing in comparison with similar quality.
Fantastic food with excellent service and fantastic atmosphere
On the arrival at the Babel house the front of house was very welcoming. The food was as delicious as it looks on pictures and the waiters made sure you were well looked after and the food was done in good time and gaps between courses were perfect as you had time to let the previous dish settle also the cocktails were tasty. Will definitely go back again and will recommend to anyone who likes fine dining. 10/10 with everything. Well done guys 😊
It was a great experience for Valentine's day! The food was amazing!
Ambiance was great for the special day. I had a late lunch with my friend on Christmas day which was all satisfied. Service and food was also nice. We especially liked duck. Dessert we had was unexpectedly beautiful(picture attached).
It was my first visit to the Babel House and all the family were pleasantly impressed.Food was great and
the interior is very tasteful.pricing is reasonable, so I am sure we will come again.
Magnificent, authentic food, this place is a real gem. Granted, it's not cheap, but for food this good you really can't argue. Recommended.
A nice cosy restaurant with some excellent food from a very comprehensive menu. The staff where very friendly too.
Do try one of their signature cocktails, absolutely fantastic.
Good food and great service. However my
Partner had the oysters and they made her quite sick
Tasty Black Sea cuisine
Pelmeni, Vareniki and Olivier salad are highly recommended
i really enjoyed dining at Babel house with my good friend. the staff was very friendly, food was really tasty and authentic. great ambience. will visit again soon !
Lovely new establishment that I was keen to try as I'm constantly searching for new places to eat Russian food. The service was great: very attentive and willing to recommend things to try. The food was OK: the aubergine caviar starter was slightly underseasoned, and the portions are quite small (except for the dessert, which was massive). The ambience is great.
Were recommened to visit Babel House by a friend and were not disapointed - food is interesting even for people who come from the region (like us), served very elegantly by attentive staff. To my taste a la carte menu is 20% overpriced by a) welcome to Mayfair and b) you actually leave the place not feeling like an overfed pig ))). Had a very nice chat with a somelier who did not push any particilar wines and was very knowledgable. Will surely come back with friends.
Funnily enough speaking to somelier we realised that the mothership restaurant is only 300 metres away from where we live in Moscow so will visit them as well to compare)).
It’s an expensive place but i really enjoyed it! Olivier with salmon and their Chicken borsch are really good
Giles Coren’s review in the Times not withstanding, this was a great meal. He must have been here on an off nite. Service, food and wine were all A+++. The lovely hostess took the time and encouraged me to discover a new limited production vodka with my pike caviar (a must have). Ribeye and duck were great. It’s a chic and beautiful room in Mayfair. I would not hesitate to recommend.
Tasted authentic and good variety. Possibly a little longer menu
Excellent food. Very Expensive wine list - regional wines disappointing. Impeccable service.
Was looking forward to trying this Black Sea cuisine concept in one of my favourite foodie corners in Mayfair. The place is pretty and well designed, however I cannot say the same about either food or wine/cocktail list.
Very confusing mix of dishes, more like Sushi Samba with all the ceviches and tuna tartars, however the key dishes were not tasty at all - Salmon olivier salad too dry and with no salt at all, golubtsy (cabbage meat rolls) as a main came as the tiniest parcels smaller than the squid starter (not crispy and bland).
Overall a disappointment and not a good value for money.
Mari Vanna for instance does the staple dishes of the Russian and CIS cuisines much much better.
A super place for good quality food, drink and ambience. It takes Russian cuisine to new levels, and it is accessible to all - classics along with well cooked meat and fish.
Their house smoked fish are a particular highlight.
Lovely food and service was great. Couldn’t ask for more!
Everything was amazing. Just the music could be less club-type and more relaxed (jazz, etc).
The first genuinely good Russian/Ukranian food place I have eaten at in London. A modern take on many dishes but keep the essence. Their interpretation of Olivie was amazing, closer to the original rather than the Soviet version, but true to itself, despite the fact that it is made with salmon and scallops. Divine.
Only complaint on authenticity would be the tea selection being rather British. The world has moved on, people who know the cuisine will not be impressed.
Otherwise just outstanding.
If you want to try traditional food presented nicely this is the place. We loved every meal, it was delicious!
Great service and food was really good. Hope there will be more people recognising this restaurant!
Excellent new restaurant in the area. Interesting twist
on the Russian cuisine and luxurious ingredients. Will definitely be back
Delicious and healthy food! Everything from loacl starters and to main courses.
