Babbo Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
This place was listed as one of the top restaurants in New York; however, I was underwhelmed by the boar ragu and the paparadelle was under-cooked. I would not recommend this place over some of the other Italian restaurants; such as Nino's 46th and Sandro's on the Upper East Side.
Simply a sensational, casual albeit elegant place just off of Washington Square Park, so easily accessible as well. The service is exquisite, the culinary selections quite esoteric, yet delicious! The only faux pas was a side dish of swiss chard instead of what I ordered - Brussel sprouts! All good. I'll go back - the service was worth every penny. And by the way, it was a bit pricey, but not at all out of range. It's a pearl in the village. Joanie xo
Wonderful place! From the second we walked in we felt welcomed. Everybody was so sweet. Our server was excellent. She gave us time to check out the menu and offered to answer any questions we might have. The food was great and they surprised us at the end by making the dessert we ordered a bday dessert. It was a nice touch and my gf loved it. Thank you Babbo for a wonderful evening. We will definitely be back.
Very good food, very crowded i. A small space with no place to wait for our table, entire ac/dc album blaring the entire time. Love rock and roll but more than one ac/dc song during dinner is a bit much and the entire album killed our experience. The service staff and host were very gracious and offered complimentary champagne and first course.
One of my favorite restaurants. The food was amazing, as always, and the staff were excellent outside of one who was exceptionally rude. I would go again, but will follow up with the management and let them know about this past experience.
Was last at Babbo just after opening. Mario was still hanging out there back then but now
is most likely off somewhere in the world and it shows. Service was excellent and the meal was
delicious (the lamb tongue was YUMO) but not sure Michelin Star warranted. We ate a Rafele a couple of weeks ago and the food was just as good and interesting.
Great Experience but I no longer a WOW.
We love Babbo and have consistently dined there for special occasions-- anniversaries, when I received my PhD, etc. This was our first time taking our two teen sons, their introduction to fine dining. We were very excited. Unfortunately, it became clear that lunch and dinner are not the same. The quality of food and service in the daytime did not compare to dinner. We ordered and never received one of two glasses of wine. The pasta was ok- not the stellar dishes I have had in the past. The little extra touches that make Babbo such a wonderful experience were missing: the offer of a special olive oil, or discussion of what dishes we were choosing, or wines. Usually the service and quality greatly exceed the price but $55 a person for lunch without even a glass of wine each for meh service and food did not feel like a good deal.
Batali said this was his gem. He was correct. The food was amazing. The music was really kool, old school rap hip hop mix. The setting formal and classy. The food was a rustic new school Italian. Me and my fiance thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Our server was great in explaining things simply to my fiance when she asked a question. I loved the lamb and our deserts. I would go there every week just for the deserts. I wish there was something similar near me in Westfield Ma. Even Amherst Ma. Come on Batali come to Western Mass!!
Excellent restaurant. They have great attention for detail starting from the beginning to end. The staff make you feel welcome. The food is excellent, some of the best I have ever had. The flavour combination are inventive and of a high class but still has a rustic Italian feel.
Traveling from SF and eagerly anticipating this dining experience, we were seated in a cramped upstairs table with a large wooden service table poking me in the back. Service was prompt and attentive, but each course registered as lacking flavor and inspiration. It’s not acceptable for this level of restaurant to serve a wild boar ragu with firm chunks of meat. Where was the finesse? So sad to have to write this review as I have enjoyed fine meals at many of Mario’s restaurants.
Tuesday night. We arrive perfectly on time. We wait 45min to have our table!!! We got the food after 25 min. The pork chop has been served cold and we have to return it so one person eat 20 min later. So food average... there are better places. Not recommended.
