Babbo Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
Must go!!! Not sure how there could be a bad review unless....its NYC and Batali so expext to pay a couple bucks more. Actually thought it was very reasonably priced. Loud music, ok...so now you know. Wasnt like eating at a concert. Ok onto the amazing food no matter what you picked! So I recommend eating there and ordering the ANYTHING!!!. ALL stafg were friendly personable, attentive and helpful. One problem, I live in FL and its in NYC.
This was our third visit and consistent stop on each of our visits to New York. The wait staff was very attentive and our waiter, Michael, was very helpful and knowledgeable, however, we were HIGHLY DISSAPPOINTED WITH THE SOMMELIER. He seemed to be unfocused and disengaged. He may be knowledgeable but he clearly has a bias towards particular clients. Our hope was to have a conversation about wine and purchase something yummy from the extensive wine list. That was not the case and when he finally arrived he was apathetic and arrogant. He seems to be a liability for an amazing restaurant. Our next visit, we hope to have an improved experience.
Five of us lunched and but for one comment from waiter rushing us to order, the experience was devine. The room is small keeping atmosphere intimate, welcoming and unpretentious . Food -pork belly ravioli, calamari, arugula salad were very creatively prepared, novel and delicious. Wine recommendation was excellent. Service was attentive with multiple people swooping in to clear. As we hadn’t seen each other for a while, we lingered and felt no pressure to leave which made earlier ordering comment an anomaly. Highly recommend.
While my husband thoroughly enjoyed his entree, mine, the pork chop, was over cooked and on the dry side. I shared this with the waiter when asked how I was enjoying my meal. Another dish was promptly offered in place of the pork chop.
Other than that, the meal was delicious!
I was pretty disappointed with our experience. My rabbit entree was dry and not flavorful and the olive cake dessert was also extremely dry. This was a definite special treat for my fiancé and I, and I wish we would have chosen to spend $200+ somewhere else.
I took my mother in law to this restaurant for her birthday. The service was amazing they were attentive to our needs. They server was very very knowledgeable of the food and wine and that was impressive. They are very clean they came over to take the crumbs off our table 👌🏽. I love the food I mean LOVE from the appetizers to the dessert. They do coat check free of charge, they give you a ticket as well for your food you would like to take so that everything is waiting for you when your ready to leave. The light music and lighting sets the mood for any occasion. I will go back and refer this restaurant it’s a must go, you will not be let down.
The menu is everything that you expect from antipasto to pasta to main course, it will be impossible to leave someone unsatisfied. Our waiter had complete knowledge of drinks, wine and ingredients, he was always making sure that we were gonna have a perfect evening. The food was great, but the pistacchio semifreddo was awesome!!!!!
Extremely rude customer service. Arrived at 11:25am for a 11:30am reservation. The server/host asked us to stand outside until 11:30am since they were still setting up. There were only two of us and we were by no means in anyone's way standing in the entrance. Found it incredibly rude to ask customers to stand outside in sub 20F temps when we can easily stand in entrance. Would expect this at a McDonald's but not at a fine dining establishment. We took our business elsewhere. This is no way to treat customers (on my husband's birthday no less). Will NOT be back.
Babbo has been on our NY restaurant list for a long time. We finally decided to go during Christmas week, and it was everything we hoped for and more. Beautiful restaurant, outstanding service, excellent and creative food. BEST pumpkin-filled pasta (lune) ON EARTH, and BEST Olive Oil Cake of all time. We will definitely return!
I had tried the most famous Pasta Tasting menu .
which is very good portion and nice
the quality of pasta every dish that i can taste is made by heart and details by the chef and the restaurant staff .
the dessert at the end is fantastic !!!
Overall , its a nice try .
Will recommend you all to try once at least .
This was my first time here and it was amazing. My friend and I were celebrating and shared 3 pasta dishes: orreciette rapini, gnocchi w/ oxtail, and tagliatelle ragu. All of the pasta was the perfect texture and the oxtail meat was amazing in tenderness and flavor. Service was also exceptional as our waiter was very friendly and offered a handcrafted nonalchoholic cocktail when I said I couldn't drink. The atmosphere was great for either a date or meet up with friends. It was really busy when we went and downstairs was pretty lively (a little loud) but we were seated upstairs where it was a bit quieter and perfect for conversation. I will definitely recommend this place to friends and will be back soon!
Visited Babbo's for lunch whilst staying in the city. It was a Tuesday, which meant a special white truffle tasting menu was on offer. It looked phenomenal!! However, a couple of months before when I was looking into restaurants to visit, I saw Babbo's had beef cheek ravioli on the menu. This was stuck in my mind until the day we arrived!! No matter how much I wanted the tasting menu, I HAD to have the ravioli. I was not disappointed. I have never eaten a meal so slow because I didn't want it to end!! Our waiter was attentive and kept our drinks flowing. The only disappointed was when we arrived, we were greeted, our coats taken and then another couple at the bar 'announced' they were now ready to be seated and the manager automatically left us to seat them. I found it to be very rude to be left stood in the middle of the restaurant with nowhere to go (its a very small space!). My husband was pushed several times by staff trying to get through. Thankfully the food made up for the managers rudeness.
Have been to several Mario Batali restaurants around the world. Experience is always similar. Food is always excellent, service is pleasant, but slow. What always annoys me is the sommelier. Every experience I have had at any Mario Batali restaurant, they always try to significantly up sell you to significantly more expensive wines. We had ordered a 2006 Tuscan wine for $300. The sommelier wrinkled his nose and suggested I try either a $500 or $600 bottle, neither of which fit the profile of Italian wine I had said I generally like with the food we had ordered. Again, this has been a repeated experience. It is ugly and aggressive behavior, sadly unbecoming of a otherwise great restaurant.
Babbo is always a complete treat. Going at Christmas time puts it over the top with the festive music and friendly service. Every course was perfect and with a party of 8 pleasing everyone is no easy feat. We were celebrating my daughter's early acceptance to NYU so Babbo will be a staple for us for the next 4 years for sure.
I always really enjoy the food a Babbo's, this time the lamb was outstanding. However I will say that the front of house is never very welcoming and because the reception area is tight its always chaotic. A few smiles, offering to take coats and a drink would go a long way to improving the situation! Our sever was fantastic!
Had a wonderful lunch here, the White Truffle lunch tasting menu. Nothing short but amazing! And with great wines too. They even took into account that me and my girl celebrated our one year anniversary together so the last course had some nice touch to it!
This place was listed as one of the top restaurants in New York; however, I was underwhelmed by the boar ragu and the paparadelle was under-cooked. I would not recommend this place over some of the other Italian restaurants; such as Nino's 46th and Sandro's on the Upper East Side.
