Aside the dificult of booking a table before 10:30pm, even a month before.....and when you get to Babbo the guy that welcomes you is a little rude....the food, ambience and waiters worth it!!!

This was a very nice experience. Special but not stuffy. We chose the tasting menu and it was a fantastic way to try the offerings. I preferred the pasta dishes over the secondi dish.

Batali said this was his gem. He was correct. The food was amazing. The music was really kool, old school rap hip hop mix. The setting formal and classy. The food was a rustic new school Italian. Me and my fiance thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Our server was great in explaining things simply to my fiance when she asked a question. I loved the lamb and our deserts. I would go there every week just for the deserts. I wish there was something similar near me in Westfield Ma. Even Amherst Ma. Come on Batali come to Western Mass!!

Excellent restaurant. They have great attention for detail starting from the beginning to end. The staff make you feel welcome. The food is excellent, some of the best I have ever had. The flavour combination are inventive and of a high class but still has a rustic Italian feel.

Traveling from SF and eagerly anticipating this dining experience, we were seated in a cramped upstairs table with a large wooden service table poking me in the back. Service was prompt and attentive, but each course registered as lacking flavor and inspiration. It’s not acceptable for this level of restaurant to serve a wild boar ragu with firm chunks of meat. Where was the finesse? So sad to have to write this review as I have enjoyed fine meals at many of Mario’s restaurants.

Tuesday night. We arrive perfectly on time. We wait 45min to have our table!!! We got the food after 25 min. The pork chop has been served cold and we have to return it so one person eat 20 min later. So food average... there are better places. Not recommended.

I always enjoy going to Babbo. It is one of the finer restaurants in New York. I have never been served an entree that I didn't think was wonderfully creative and delicious. Never!

The food is great here—of course. It’s interesting, fairly priced, and has eye appeal
What makes this restaurant standout (and among the very best in NY) is its service. Both headwaiter and main waiter seemed genuinely concerned that the experience was as perfect as possible. I could not have enjoyed it more.

I’ve been to Babbo several times before but this was the best yet for food, service, and not feeling like we were being rushed. The only downside (if there is one!) is that we would love more reasonably priced wine options and music that better fits the cuisine and noise level wanted. Such a wonderful place- I know we’ll be back!

A horrible experience, food he’s overly salty and dry, and great contradiction with reputation of the place and the fact that for three people we paid over $600. That is without wine ,nor desserts.
In the European city, such a place wouldn’t have existed more than a week. It would have gone bankrupt. Somehow, it appears to trick the untrained palates in New York City, but I cannot understand any food savvy person who directed this place positively. It is not in one time failure, because all the dishes were not good and were overly salty. To be specific the octopus was dry, the lamp brain was nothing but salts and pure fat; The short trip was absolutely tasteless and their special of the day, pasta with truffles, tasted more better than truffles. So the chef would even destroy the value of such a magnificent ingrédient. It’s a definite no go!

We were seated for a full hour before our appetizers arrived. Great waiter, but the SOM took 20 minutes to get to our table and the kitchen timing is unacceptable. Interior design is dated and cramped. There are 15-20 Italian restaurants in Manhattan I’d rather visit, most of which are a fraction of the price.

Staff was attentive but unobtrusive. Food delicious. Our table enjoyed the goat special, scallops, lamb chops and pumpkin ravioli. The desserts were just as yummy. Music was eclectic, the waiter said it could be anything from opera to Jimi Hendrix. We totally enjoyed Jimi as it made us feel very festive and casual.

The ambience was nice as it was dim giving a romantic feel. It was busy making it lively. However, the food was not good. We ordered the osso bucco for two, which wasn't tasty and had a lot of fat. I hardly touched my plate and the waiter did not even ask if I liked it or offer me a new plate. They probably knew that I did not like it since it wasn't touched but didn't want to offer me a new plate. I am surprised it is a Michelin Star restaurant.

I love everything. And I love the music choices. I like it that it's a bit louder than just ambient level. But you guys need some kind of volume control on it. The variation in the volume is annoying, and it snaps you out of the moment of being in such a special place.
