Small facility. Great food. Tables were on top of each other. Hard to hear your conversation. Bread was cold which do me isn’t a good sign. Rest of the meal was very good.
A wonderful atmosphere, great food and service.
Thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
It was delicious! Great time
This is one of those restaurants that you must try when visiting NYC. The food was everything you hear about. Some of the best Italian food i've tasted. Ambiance was very good. I would definitely go back for a special occasion.
Had dinner at Babbo for my fiance’s Birthday - it was the first time we’d been and it was a great experience. I had very high expectations for the food and ambiance, all of which were met. The beef cheek ravioli in particular lived up the the hype - savory in all the best ways, and a perfect portion that left me satisfied but not stuffed. We also enjoyed the prosciutto appetizer.
My only complaint is that the service slowed down much more after finishing our main course, and though we would have ordered dessert, we weren’t able to because we were on a bit of a time crunch. Other than that, the service was great.
Highly recommend Babbo if you’re looking for a varied menu, high-quality food, and reasonable prices for the quality!
One of my favorite restaurants in nyc
Was perfectly fine.
Outstanding food for every course. Had seasonal olive oil appetizer that was best olive oil I have ever tasted. Very impressive “date” restaurant for lunch or dinner.
Fantastic food and great service. One of my favorites when visiting New York.
Amazing as always! The pasta tasting with reserve wine pairings is the way to go.
This was our third time at Babb. We keep coming back because the food and service is very good.
Our first time at Babbo. We sat upstairs where it was a bit more quiet during the holiday hustle and bustle. Susan was a top notch server (as was all the wait staff) and honestly, everything we ordered and consumed was beyond delicious. Probably the very best meal of our trip and we ate at many awesome restaurants. Outstanding!
One of our favorites when where in NYC. Always a memorable meal
I made a late, day-of solo reservation and understand why it is so hard to get into the restaurant. It isn't a big place, and the great service leads to a relaxed (longer) dining experience. I waited a bit to be seated and there isn't an area to wait. I was able to get a drink and stand near the bar though you end up being in the way of waiters and staff as they bring food and drinks to the tables and patrons eating at the bar. Though no staff ever made me feel I was in the way, in fact, they seemed apologetic and would prefer to wait until you noticed them rather than ask you to move. After about 10-15 minutes, I was seated at the bar, which was great. The "bartender", which seems like the understatement of the year, was so friendly and knowledgeable -- not just about the food and drinks but about the regions the food and wine come from and the history of those areas. It was impressive, and I'd go back just for her recommendations and service. The food was also outstanding. A great menu with great options and a reasonably priced tasting menu. The appetizer was so tasteful, the pasta was cooked a perfect al dente, the flavors were wonderful, and the scallops I ordered were good, though not the best I've had. The rice pudding cheesecake, on the other hand, was perhaps the best cheesecake I've ever had. There was so much more on the menu I would try, as well as taste more of the wide selection of available wine and bourbons, and so I'll be returning soon.
Big fan of restaurant. Have been many times and never disappointed
Fantastic food! Best carpaccio di manzo I’ve ever had. Loved the two textures of the beef - thin carpaccio slices and diced steak tartare too. Crab pasta could have used more salt, but the quality of the ingredients was excellent. The prices on wine by the glass were exorbitant. Overall, a great meal!
Really good food, great ambiance and service, but very pricey. Definitely worth the visit, just be prepared to spend a lot.
One of the best pasta I ever tried! Amazing restaurant and the service is the best thing!!
I appreciate the fact you guys did one of my favorite dish that is no longer in the menu ! Thank you !
Servicio, ambiente y comida súper bueno. Vino exquisito
Normal experience for $$$ price
John the maitre d is the best. Thanks for another wonderful meal
Food and service were great. The music was pretty bad and loud. we complained to waiter who said this is how the music has been for 10 years. I’ve been to Babbo 5 times before and never noticed how horrific the music was. The hostess called me ahead of time to confirm the reservation and asked if it was a special occasion and I told her it was a birthday but then they forgot and didn’t put a candle in the desert.
Not as nice as we had hoped it would be. The music was overbearing and seemed complete unrelated to the ambiance and decor. Not the restaurant’s fault but the person next to us (tables are very tight) was unbearably loud and obnoxious. The service was fine if not a bit rushed. Probably won’t go back.
Impeccable service. Always choose a tasting menu. The whole meal was spectacular.
The place was great. Food and service was great. We were there early so we got a lot of attention. The sommelier didn’t show us a good range of price and diversity of wines.
Amazing restaurant. Love the pasta tasting menu!!
We brought a business friend for his birthday. All first timers to Babbo’s. We had dinner the previous evening at Gramercy Tavern restaurant, and our huge disappointment with GT was assuaged by the brilliance of the whole Babbo’s experience. Great team job! Friendly and faultless.
This was our umpteenth visit to Babbo. For the first time, a couple of our dishes were over-salted. Baby octopus was overcooked and tough. Black spaghetti with crab was perfection. Wine was great. Service was great. Music was great.
I think the food is ”aspirational” and they definitely deliver amazing Italian food. I haven’t been able to get past the pastas on the menu as they are so good. Wine offering is also great. I keep coming back over and over.
The entrees we had were excellent. The arugula salad was outstanding, as was the oriechette pasta. We both shared tiramisu for dessert which I highly recommend.
Wonderful birthday celebration!
Restaurant is good but noisy and expensive.
From the moment the Maitre D' wished my wife a Happy Birthday when we checked in at the podium, I had the feeling that this was going to be a special dining experience. Turns out I was right. We were seated upstairs in a lovely room which was a bit more mellow than the downstairs where the bar is located. For our antipasto, we shared the Grilled Octopus which was served with marinated borlotti beans. The octopus was beautifully prepared and the beans added just the right amount of flavor and texture. For our mains, my wife had the Pappardelle Bolognese, and I had the Duck with figs and baby cauliflower. Not only did we each love what we ordered, we each loved what the other person ordered as well. The couple at the next table had the Grilled Lamb Chops and I made a mental note that on my next visit I might have to try those. Actually, every dish that came past our table looked fantastic.
At the end of our meal, on cue, our dessert came out with the requisite candle but with an additional flourish: 'Happy Birthday Michelle' was written in chocolate sauce around the edge of the plate....awesome. We even got to meet Ray Rando, the General Manager of Babbo who came by our table to wish my wife a happy birthday. Ray, if you read these reviews, let me say that you run an amazing establishment.
Though the food is and has always been outstanding including those chickpeas you get when you sit down, and the service is very good, all this is eclipsed by the horrible music. The volume is horrifying and the music itself is tasteless. Couldn't they play orchestral music or at the very least Italian music? All tghis being said, I'll be returning for the food.
I love Babbo. We have come with friends many times over the years. One thing that was odd this time. I wanted a bottle of Antinori produced wine that you did not have. The waiter suggested an alternative that was a little lighter but was twice the price. Not the best etiquette in my opinion. I was with guests so I paid without any fuss. But, I was surprised and a little disappointed.
Extraordinaria de lo mejor en el mundo
Great place , nice menu and nice size portions which is so nice and rare these days
We went on a Monday night for my daughters 20th birthday. Lively atmosphere, Talking Heads '77 playing, fantastic menu. There is plenty to choose from no matter your gustatorial proclivity. Service was impeccable and the food was beyond...beyond.
The service was poor. We had to ask 3 times for a glass of water. Received coffee and had to ask twice for sugar and never received butter with our bread. We were looking forward to having the wild boar ragu having just come back from Tuscany and we were sorely disappointed. We would never order it again and it in fact gave me a stomach ache. Overall we did not understand the attraction of the large noisy crown of people to this restaurant. This was our first and last time!!
